All rights to this production belong to Nat Geo. I respect their creative property, but this video isn't able to be viewed by the public in its purest form. The DVD was produced in limited numbers and isn't in production any longer. I upload this with respect to Nat Geo as I feel this should be able to be seen by the world, as it is truly a fantastic documentary.
I am NOT monetizing this video, any ads seen following or prior to this video are placed by "TH-cam" and I have no control over this.
I up sampled to 1080p and corrected visuals and removed distracting foreign subtitles. Any tearing or visual effects are all original to the production. I went to great lengths to track down this documentary (2 Years) and make the corresponding updates to share to the world.
NAT GEO PLEASE DON'T STRIKE MY ACCOUNT. I love this video and I want the world to see it.
There was a guy that had one local from. As a car enthusiasts, it always caught my eye seeing it drove around. One night after work, luckily, I was next to him at a red light but i was in the turning lane. I roll my windows all the way down and the dude took off!! Like launch it from a dead stop and man, that was the sexiest sound i ever heard from a car. Talk about eargasim. This was like 10 years ago lol
You know this car is so good that the engineer didn't know to make it again. Yamaha is the GOAT
I wish they sold so many of these when they came out, that they were still in production today and I can buy a used one thats slightly depreciated.
Royal
Only reason why it " failed " is because by the time it came out all its features were in other production cars. They wanted this tobe the ultimate perfect car that they lost in the time to release it where it could have made headlines
So sad it come after the GTR 😢
Turbos are cheap way to get more power. Lexus doesn't take shortcuts or cheap routes because it effects the engine in the long run. GTR has higher maintenance costs. Unfortunately, people who can afford these cars don't care about reliability.
It’s so sad that this car was under rated when it came out
This car's not worth the asking price when it finally came out. Considering other supercar performs better in every aspect at the time (thanks to series of delay this project has experienced)
@@hectornecromancer5308That’s what happens when you allow everyone on the team to keep changing the design and function of the car every year. They should’ve stuck to the first LFA design and sold it the first year.
Yes. But nowadays it's an investment, no one will sell one for less than 500k.
@@hectornecromancer5308 that’s a LOAD of shit. The LFA beat a lot of cars when it came out stop spreading false information. The LFA beat even Ferraris and Porsches around the track and had a better engine than every other supercar on the market.
@@Toyota4Lifetalk about being wrong and indignant . The only person spreading misinformation is you, fanboy. I like Toyota as much as 5he next person but the LFA was a car that when it finally came out, it was outpaced by same class competitors (e.g Nissan gtr, 997 turbo S, 458 Italia). LFA also out priced them as well. Yea it sounds good but it's not outperforming the others. Save you rage
Best choice they ever made was to collaborate with Yamaha....best sounding production car engine EVER!
Lexus build the LFA so perfect even they don't know how to re-create it :: Jeremy Clarkson
No,Lexus
People and engineers from Toyota and Lexus
Bstd, Jer. Clark
Dear Lexus
Please restart the LFA factory and build the LFA Mk2. This time they will sell like no other car because we now know what the Mk1 is and what it is worth.
Add a DCT please
Ps....no hybrid assisted propulsion please
This is not all about making a pay check, but building DREAMS 💯
When the LFA first came out, I was in complete astonishment Toyota & Lexus dropped such an incredible vehicle.
That lost millions.....lol
@@jaredoldhouser3301it’s a drop in the bucket for the worlds best and largest Automaker
The thing that struck me was the comment by the factory manager (the baseball guy) when he said that their goal is to please their customers. Compaer that to. other supercar makers, where the goal is to make a car that is the ultimate performer. Customer focus vs. Glory focus. THAT to me is what makes this car so special.
Jeremy Clarkson - Best car I have ever driven.
Now we know it is the best built car ever.
the greatest car ever built . i’d take this over a cheesy ferrari any day .
Oh and second but related fun fact, it was supposed to be aluminium but took so long to design and build they started again when carbon composites had improved and moved to carbon fibre instead
This car cost 750K to build and was sold for 325K when it was on showroom floors each car lost 425K , but atleast it's getting it's recognition it deserves now
It is incredible what people can do when money no longer becomes an object. The LFA, along with other legends like the McLaren F1, will always have a special place in my heart, since it's a true passion project overseen by people with genuine passion and love for engineering, not money. As an engineering student I really appreciate and value that
I agree. Sometimes cars need to be made to set presedences.
greatest car ever made . period .
The fact this car was misunderstood when it first came out just adds to its legendary status.
Kudos too Lexus & Yamaha .. the sound of this car will always be the quintessential…. It’s a Work of pure art ❤
The best car I have ever driven
NO reason the new supra shouldn't have been this good.
In my honest opinion the real MK5 Supra is the Lexus LC500 and not BMW Z4.
Your a moron this car cost way more to build than a bmw Supra
@@audiquagaming*you’re, genius. You’re. You are. Back to kindergarten champ.
No reason?? Try a couple hundred thousand reasons. You may want to re-watch the video?? Production and development for a vehicle like the LFA are not feasible for making vehicles to sell. No company in the world could stay in business with this philosophy.
The Supra is a great sportscar but the LFA has no contemporaries. There are no other cars in the world built to the LFA standards of performance and quality that aren't priced in the millions...period. It is the car that was made to be a statement by Toyota and an indisputable one at that.
Fun fact, they lost money on every single one they sold.
They didn't built these cars for profit. They created a masterpiece for branding
the only missing option was true manual gearbox. otherwise, damn near the Perfect Supercar!!🇯🇵 👍
This is that car that goes down in history not because of its performance, but because of its sensations
Any car manufacturer can make their cars sound great like this one, whether indoor or outdoor noise. However, Lexus has managed to make itself the pioneer in providing this kind of sensation in the industry... If they had made it in mid engine layout like what Ferrari does, it would've been the most sensational car with the best performance.
The car had great performance. This car was beating Ferraris at the time. I hate that people make this car seem like it’s all sound. It’s not this car was a legit performer.
@@Toyota4Life You might have forgotten that handling is also considered one of the aspects of driving sensation. Cars with mid engine layout can help you rotate your car better, this aspect can even make driving difficult in an interesting way that tests your ability. 👌
@Toyota4Life and who said the car only has sound? I talked about performance just for the numbers that don't stand out compared to the competitors of the time but also don't overpower, the car is great in handling and chassis balance, it's great in driving sensations, one of the best of all time, sensations are just about sound , get it now?
Love the bosses attitude, take as long as you need to make it right.
My favorite car! I would love to have one..... I've worked for Lexus for 20yrs....
I wish they use that awesome v10 in a bunch more cars. They should make an lc500 with that v10
I hope to drive a LFA one day
Correction: something not mentioned in the video is that The LFA was made of Aluminum in the beginning and they switched to carbon fiber at the 11th hour and after the cars were already produced. They had to convert every car and that decision caused a big financial constraint and delayed it's official debut date. But it was the best decision which contributed to the cars weight loss and safety.
Edit: I rushed to comment, the switchover is actually mentioned in the video at 9:04.
Engine Of Lexus Was A Masterpiece By Yamaha❤️
Beautiful cars they are and because they arent a ferarri or lambo they will last 😂😂
Best sounding road car on the planet !!
i still remember watching this when i was a kid on tv
One of the best sounding car ever made✨🔥 work of art🙌🗿
I'll start working on processing the Lamborghini Aventador documentary. I'll have it done in a couple of weeks. Subscribe to see it soon.
Thank you! I was waiting for this LFA vid. Thank you very much.
@@elayda93 All these videos are copyright protected so I get hit with Copyright when I post these. So I have to space them out over time. Please give me time for those who want all of these documentaries remastered.
@@Mikey6048 No problem man. Much appreciated all your efforts.
Please do upload the highest quality format. I think back in early 2010 nat geo uploaded a lambo documentary but then deleted. Cant find it now with higher quality
@@CC-tk9xw I'm working on it currently. It was the Lamborghini Aventador documentary.
The holy grail of v10s
That would be the Dodge Viper
E60 m5 ftw
Every single dual overhead cam v10 has reliability issues. Also there is no replacement for displacement.
今買おうとしたら1億円位かな?(当時3750万円)
You can definitly see the first gen GT86 took some visual inspiration from the LFA.
i think my GR Corolla is assembled here
The quality is like having a hand built bugatti but more scaled-down we may never see this again in a gas engine from lexus
Try buying one today probably a million dollars
Cane here after playing GT7
1 of my dream car FOREVER, LEXUS "PURSUING PERFECTION"
One of the most amazing vehicles ever produced, let alone cars!
This in my opinion is the best car made so far its so amazingly complex that its pornographically orgasmic for how this magic of design and practically that you almost feel like you are made for the car unlike how it normally is done where the car is made for you 30:22 the sound and way its feel 31:41 it can completely pit you into automotive ecstasy is what i think all supercars are made for but this car is a dream with wheels i have never been in one and i hope that one day i might just be able to see one and possibly sit in it this is my dream car from the second i saw it in a fast and furious movie its been interesting to see how people didnt think much but it now become one of the more sought out cars on the market. Anyways i love it and want it going especially the nürburgring edition its a dream but one thats real and exist🎉 39:25
Lexus Proves That Profit Is Not Every Brands Priority Some Brands Just Want To Make Masterpiece ❤Lfa
I went to the LA Auto Show when they ended production of the LHA and the pretty show girl said one left for $150 K. I should had got a loan. They are now greater in value by a bunch.
500 limited editions... LFA = legend.... Great episode. Thank you NatGeo & Lexus❤
It's a icon already. The price it's skyhigh. If you are lucky and have enaugh cash,. you can find some one in Europe, presume some other parts of the world.
Dream built club remix this car solution your needed remote controle with brain mix by LEXUS. Then youre in headache an Alcohol spectre good bless the Japanase Cars be handsome and start to engine. Why to like an SAKE not LEXUS..? just prep for the remix in the horse power.
Mr. Alpha keep uploading these iconic Car Megafactories video... i literally wastched the GTR one yesterday which u posted 9months ago and now the LFA even better... Thank You
Will go down in history as one of the most iconic cars ever made. Hands down the best sounding car ever. Funny enough, the company that made it lost millions building it but the owners will make millions reselling it.
39:53 Only a Japanese would say that 😂😂
They should've kept building it. They had a winner and didn't even know.
The said will build 500 and built 500. Toyota is that kinda brand that promises and delivers exactly what they promised
They are not built a car, they make Make an Art ❤
You forget about the toyota 2000 GT from the sixties, it was a car like this, just from the 60s.
It's rather sad people look at power rating when judging a high performance vehicle. Look, I drag and track race. My drag car can carry the wheels at a stop light. Useless when on the track with half the power, its about balance, and control. No need to rag on the vehicle.
The first time a saw her was on that old nfs most wanted game that came out in 2013 , she was the best sounding and best handling car imo in that game, absolutely would love to see her irl on day 😍
underrated and thanks to the Hirose to bring his last beast and redefine GR sport to toyota
the reason why the LFA sings beautifully, is because yamaha got involved in developing it. not surprising considering yamaha has experience in musical instruments for a long time at that point onwards
You have used many footages from Top Gear 😅
right!? I noticed that too. i mean its god footage
the LFA is so pretty
we have been tracking you sense you came back
Excellent documentary. Amazing effort by the Japanese. LFA is certainly a very special car.
WOW!!! Yamaha is the best...
Thank you for posting this!
39:40 HAHAHAHA
The sound alone tells you everything and makes it a super desirable supercar.
How ironic a company that started in the loom business over a hundred years ago is now weaving cars from fabrics...😮
Lopez Frank Harris Laura Brown Edward
wish i would have bought one before the prices went out of sight great car and engine
if you look at this car It's not about top speed, It's just not about quarter mile or half a mile....it's about art and perfection....good job Yamaha and Toyota Lexus ...🫡
Say the same thing about a Porsche or the GR86 and people will literally do a black flip and shit a brick where they stand.
Team Yamaha for life😤 Also we waiting for LFE🤞
Nice 👌🏿 first indept documentary on the LFA .....thanks
Lamborghini Aventador coming in a few days.
shows how overrated those junks are
The closest you can get to the LFA these days is the Lexus LC500. Like the LFA it is worth every dollar and much more.
Overrated lexus, it doesnt deserve its price.
@@farisgamer5557as awesome as the car is, i think i agree with you
My friend, can you find if there's a Honda S2000 or NSX documentary that you can upload? 😊
Nat Geo didn't do anything on those unfortunately. But I'll look for other documentaries.
wait, 30:42 I hear song "Cartoons - Doo Dah"😅but it's exactly from 1850 song "Camptown Races"🎶cmiiw
Even if i don't get to own one i will definitely drive this masterpiece.
I still wished they put a manual transmission in by far THE SEXIEST CAR TOYOTA/LEXUS MADE TIL THIS DAY
Audio engineer: 95% of the audio is just the engine... Wtf guys...
Director: Yes.
Thank you for posting these! Very inspiring!
Now that's called ENGINEERING WORK OF ART.
If we exclude all the expensive and time consumed parts and components, for example: the multi layers carbon fiber and the 10-cylinder engine, the design of the center and the middle console which is high...
and we went for a full aluminum wheelbase, chassis, and structure, a 6-cylinder engine with twin turbos, extending the length slightly to fit two additional seats (will not fit more than childrens, or suitcases) in the back to make it a proper GT.
We came out with coupe and targa top models, marketing them at traditional toyota competitive prices (at least in their class or category), maybe tens of thousands of these cars can be sold every year, and the waiting list could stretch for years...
the design, despite its simple lines, is sporty and combines the low profile body with a wide wheelbase to improve the grip and enhance the sporty performance, the design is streamlined and very elegant...
the proposed model based on a more austere and humble version of this Lexus LFA would have become a real competitor to the Nissan Skyline GT-R R35 and to all nasty european sports cars...
Compared to the current Supra project, which in my personal opinion is considered a huge setback in the evolution of the Supra series...
and now this car is a 1 million euro icon with insanely good sound
This is absolutely incredible how much care and time they take to make an LFA. I was fortunate to ride in one and they are incredible cars. It's a steep price tag to get into one but it is definitely on the level of entry-level supercars. IMO, of course. It doesn't beat a Ferrari but is on par with an R8.
I think it beats a California easily
@@xsbgtr Really? Why?
That must have been a hell of a ride. I’ve always wanted to ride in one. That sound is incredible
@@rogermoreno1152 It was almost scary the send itself but it was so damn smooth. Trees were flying by and seriously planted my feet and grabbed on to just ride it out. If only they were affordable to normal people!
国宝ですね。
I would be proud of such an achievement as well. It's definitely one of the greatest cars ever made.

Goosebumps throughout the video. Phenomenal car and story. 😍
Toyota for life 🫡 until my Father in Heaven calls me home 😊
Excellent! Wish I understood how remarkable it was sooner. Glad to understand this now.
A truly amazing car.
@AlphaVR great vid bud. Some wordings remind of the vid editing days of circa 2002-2008 . Upscaling came out great ; no jitters or block pixels . That said, on to the vid, and how great this car truly is/was . Hope all the owners enjoy them very much, and the last 2 that are sitting in some dealership across USA to find new homes. Sadly $'s matching wont make it possible but we can only hope. Owner of 2012 ISF and 2022 IS-500 Launch Edt 2x/500 .

Priced in the US at prices nearing 500K (if you could get one) each car sold was losing Toyota money. A car built simply for the love of raising every bar from design to production. A rare care indeed. I wonder if anything learned made its way into Toyota's newest NA plant in Huntsville, AL? Would be nice to know every car produced since the pains taken on the LFA somehow makes all Toyota/Lexus cars even better. If I could own a LFA it would be really cool even though at day's end it's just a car and it will rust. This car, however, has so much passion and precision in its DNA that, along with the seriously limited production, make it so special I think it could be my personal dream car. Actually, I am seriously not jaded by material things (all of them rust like I said) and drive a Porsche Cayman S because it gives me enough of the experience and, for me, is exactly my dream car. Still, this is one unicorn of a ride I'd like to experience.
I've only seen one LFA in the wild, back in March 2023 in Sebring, FL, where the super cars gather for the annual Sebring 12 hr race. I"m sure it belonged to a sponsor or team owner. it was beautiful.
I’ve only seen two in person, a white one with a Texas A&M license plate, and a dark gunmetal one. Both in Houston TX at different cars n coffee events. They are absolutely stunning in person. This is a car that photos and video don’t do justice to it
My absolute dream car. I’d do anything to own one
