It does crack me up that the manufactures are so worried about "brazed fittings" being leak points, when most evaps leak anyway....it must be the lawyers setting the directions

The pressure on R-290 is low compared to the blends we have now. R-290 pressures compare more to R-12 .

I need this, i hate pinching and opening the ports. And then closing them.

Again, I live in Louisiana, and almost All R-290 coils leak for us. I throw a saddle valve on it just to see, and sure enough, the r-290 is shit. Everything seems to be going to that. I guess it's good for us techs. I leak check, bubble check, have old school tools to check for leaks. I haven't had one saddle valve leak so far. My first one was about 4 years ago, and I still do preventative maintenance on it, and it hasn't leaked out yet. Not really a fan of the r-290. I know saddle valves shouldn't be put on the system, but we as techs do what we do with what we have. Great video, brother.

They said not leave access valves it depends on the equipment.l leave them on no leaks l see in some equipment from the manufacturer they do have access already on them .

Good video ! interesting Fitting ! Push connect ? That's a Big fitting. wow. for a little unit. looks like a expensive fitting. i would just weld on 2 access fittings at that point. you already had to dump the charge of 290 to put on that fitting.
you can also buy weld in ball valves. stand alone & weld in access valves before them too. weld in ball valves were pretty cheap last time i looked before covid. probably not cheap any more since covid.

Like the slip ons so I can nitro hard before torching

That looks like a lot of mass on the end of a long, unsupported, curved line. I bet a serious harmonic vibration is set up on that tubing that would cause a leak from metal fatigue alone.

I generally don’t leave these on tiny systems like this. Just wanted to show that valve specifically given I was just discussing it with some guys. I do use the regular slip ons cuz they all me to flow nitro hard before I have to torch permanent ports on.

If the restaurant burns down, the insurance company might love to sue the hvacr company if the r290 units have service pprts

If the restaurant burns down and they can 100% trace it back to the r290 cabinet they’re gonna have me on the list of folks they’re suing anyway. Manufacturers recommendations and best practices purposefully leave ambiguous language.
