@@dlrmon1 Right... the price of a "toy" these days! A KTM... oh my! In 1977 I bought a "demo" from a dealer. So I was the first owner. $1,140. You can see that bike in various forms and videos here on my channel. A 1974 TR5MX. (google TR5MX avenger) It was my dirtbike for years until I bought a new xr500r in 82. You just can't fly down a dirt road unbridled with a bike that has only 3" of travel! I built it up as a plated bike for use as a dual sport bike. Ride to the mountains and continue on through the rough to the destination. And I made trips on it, did camp-outs, club rides, ect. It gets more discussion at stoplights, stations and stores than my BSA. The tr5mx avenger is a rare bike. There were 600 of them made. I remember going to the dealer for some parts and I saw their big bore kit for it... on sale $40!!! (piston, sleeve, wrist pin) I had to have that! I installed the kit in a different engine and it made a big difference having a 570 instead of a 500. I need to begin that refurbish again. I stopped riding it because it had the original clutch and it needed that serviced. It's just been at the end of the list and been projected to happen, but then there is always something else getting in the way with it's own urgency. Truthfully, I am finding it difficult to get enough riding time in on the five plated bikes I have up and current now... Plus the registration fees. (did a 120 miles yesterday on the xs650d and the "need to do's" piled up in the back of my mind) For the first time ever, I have considered selling out all my British bike stuff. 5 bikes worth of parts. I have had them 45 years or so, been through a lot, kept them going. But... it's time to pass the torch. I will have a hard time letting them go, but if the price is right...
That’s awesome...never had the privilege of a Triumph. Many bikes I wish I had kept. I had so many at once that maintenance was not fun anymore. I’m down to 11 bikes. Ones I tend to ride most are a ‘03 XR400R Dual Sport and living in the PNW Rainforest (Tight Trails) I have a ‘14 KTM300xcw. I’m ready to trade a few off and get a nostalgic street bike again. Gawd damn fine piece of history goin on right here. Bikes these days are gay 😆I have a 93 650l
Benny, I remember you, I remember one of your videos where I agreed with your technics. I think I wrote to you.
Yes certainly a time capsule here! This video is a more modern re-edit and post before it that was done 12 years earlier when all my equipment was worse. This is still capture footage from the old video 8 days, but with the new edits and altered for today's wide screen viewing. The one it surpasses has something like 75,000 views and is my top video of all time views wise. One guy said I make weird videos. That may be true!? I think you get it. Thanks for commenting!

I bought a new 250 in 88 from Carmichael Honda, after being in business for many years at a few different locations they sadly closed down, that being the last location they were at.
One of the counter guys said to me at roseville honda that they are the former carmichael honda
Hola Tuve la suerte de comprar 2 XR cero km!
Una 250 y 600
Actualmente conservo la XR600RR año 1994
No la cambio por ninguna otra !
No existe en la tierra máquina igual !!
Hello I was lucky to buy 2 XR zero km! A 250 and 600 Currently I keep the XR600RR year 1994 I do not change it for any other! There is no such machine on earth !!
Bueno, entonces lo has hecho muy bien.
¿No KM? ¿Compraste nuevo? ¿Y todavía tienes el 600?
Well, then you have done very well indeed!
No KM? Did you buy new? And you still have the 600?
@@2manyrides si si aún la tengo
Que época hermosa!!🤙
Edwardo, supongo que te gusta este video.
Es para llorar de emoción este video.
Te gusta mucho el xr600 entonces
@@2manyrides Yes! I Love it. Man, and I appreciate your kindness to respond every comment in his own language! Greetings from Argentina! Long live to XR600.
@@ChuliRacing De nada y gracias por comentar. I
My 98 dipstick is exactly the same
They all are that way, hard to position the first thread. I still have a tough time to this day sometimes.
Felicitaciones
Thank you, thank you...gracias
Does yer xr350 sound like mine? Line em up
I bet the 250 would have been a good bike
I don't know... I have my personal opinions. One is how magnificant the low end grunt is on a 600. It's even more thank ya feel on the xr650L from what some have said.
Sweeeeeet!
✏Glad you commented, Thanks!

Not fair now that I have the $ they don't make the bikes I want anymore.
Ya know, you're right. For me, the newest bikes are not usually attractive. I guess you need to have a crystal ball to look ahead 20-30 years. In this video, early on, you see us checking a few NX250's. Looked to me to be a girls' bikes! Turns out they were ahead of their time and I now own a NX650.

I had never had a bike with a fairing before.
Me too exactly, the newer bikes have different ergonomics too and to me they feel totally uncomfortable.
@@2manyridescool old video, me myself I don't look a day older than I did in 1992............yeah right 😂
@@williamsherman1089 Not much I can do about it...
Honda still sells the XR650L and Suzuki still sells the DR650. Both are virtually unchanged from 25 years ago.
th-cam.com/video/D-MaIu14ot0/w-d-xo.html a tak było u nas . Jako 13 letni chłopak marzyłem wtedy o Jawie TS 350 he-he
to bardzo dobre porównanie! i taki STARY film. Dziękuję za udostępnienie tego.
Wróć do dawnych czasów. Wtedy też to żyłem!
"carmichael"
Ah crap! you caught me! I just noticed that last night and have not fixed it yet. But I admit, I've done that before.
