- Coming up on the 20 years of ownership. We had gone to the bike shop 12/31/91 to look at bikes. Having logged 10 years on an 82 XR500R, the upgrades on the new thumpers were just too much to ignore. There was a biting urge to renew with the upcoming year.
Indeed I wheeled a brand new XR into my home on 2/3/92, in the midst of a 3 week rainy pattern that thwarted my desire to put this machine in action.
At least I had ample chance to look it over closely. Now you get a chance too...
Super 90's video. I just acquired a 92 XR600 w/ a seized engine and am 1/2 done rebuilding it.
How did the rebuild go? Still running?

Yes, yes! /My most viewed video of all time with over 73,000 views. But then, I reissued that video footage in a more up to date production utilizing new treatments with equipment than what I had back then. This alternative video also spends more time on the other bikes that were at the dealer back then on december 31st 1991. Edwardo, you are not going to find many out there that have save footage of the bike they bought so long ago... And still owning it!

Just got done putting the original motor back in this bike. It spent the last ten years in my 91. As a plated xr, the motor got a bit tired. Sometimes billowing smoke and down on compression a bit. Yet she still runs very stong. No rebuild yet, still ready for the trail.

@@2manyrides Raced mine for 3 years in the senior veteran class with great success a few firsts and one overall. I started racing in 1978. I my opinion xr600r was the best bike. Good luck and ride safe

JoshKing530 Glad you like that one Josh. I had gone down to the bike shop just to LOOK at bikes, but by Feb I had the 600R at home. It replaced my 1982 XR500R. So nice to have the disc brakes over those drum units!

I bought mine used in 2000 with fresh a Xr's only rebuild I just keep up on maintance and a rear tire every year. I ride the LA B 2 Vegas ride with it....Just keeps on running...STRONG Its a little heavy but that helps the tracking in the miles long sand washes we have here. It will still top out in the triple digits if needed. Thanks for the vid

My 1992 xr600r motor is now in a 1991 I bought that was plated. The 91's motor was smoking and has a worn 3rd gear. The 1992 now has the 91 motor in it and can be taken out for a run anytime. But I bought a 1996 green stickered xr600r for my current main trail machine. The 92 is all together and could handle any task. She has seen her hey-day and gets lots of rest now. LOL Glad you liked the video.

Picked it up in early feburary and then it rained for a couple weeks. There was time to let it sit and admire it. When we went to look at bikes at the honda shop that day, I wasn't expecting to buy...but then the bug hit me!

I have two of these. A 91 and a 93. The 93 has a big bore kit making it a 660cc. Bitch to crank. Don't do it... :)

Since my last post, I've sold both of my XR600R's. My 57 year old, 2 surgery right knee said ENOUGH! I now own two Honda Foreman 4x4's... :)

alani... I'm sure that the original tires on a 1992 xr600r are IRC. That's what they came with. Now that I have 3 xr600r's and they have all had tire changes over the years, No, I can not remember the different tires I have mounted.
I always mount my own tires, but I throw the old ones out as soon as I get a chance.
Maybe I can help with what's on them now? Are you trying to figure what will fit your bike, or just wondering what I have used and liked?

I always hope that poeple like my stuff. I am happy you spoke up. There are others who dig my music. I am amateur all the way around and on a shoestring budget. Useing antique equipment. And I have gotten it done.
