  • This could be one of the highest mileage turbo vr6 setups in existence, with approximately 170,000km of boosted mileage and counting. In this video we find out our cheap MK4 VR6 turbo GTI had more wrong with it than just timing codes.

Funny seeing this vid while my vrt just started knocking. Has a bit more than 120 000kms of boosted miles on it and more than 12 years of use at 630whp. My car has JE's and IE rods tho. Still don't know what the knocking is. Gave up after hearing it. This video makes me want to work on it again, lol. This is the only other vrt with high boosted miles other than Danny's car. Pretty cool they last a while tho !

How much power are you pushing? How much do you think you spent on the turbo charger and supporting mods?

You guys definitely did it the hard way, would have been easier to just pull the engine lol
    Good job tho!

Is timing these BDF engines any different than the other 24V's? We can't seem to get ours running right after a head replacement.

AUE is the different one, lacks one vvt gear, usually coilpack and plug wires like 12v. Recheck your timing.

awesome! almost looks easy! great job man! question... did your car already came with a plug T14a behind the batery or did you have to adapt a T10a on the waterfall wiring part? how did you go over that? im having this trouble cause my 99 golf mk4 came with a t10 pin plug but my vr6 24v BDE came with a T14 pin plug...
    Keep pumping!

Are you referring to the engine harness? This particular car is natively a 2.8 24v, not a swap.

@@thirdgeargrind yes i was refering to the harness more specificly where the car wiring meets the engine harness but that helps a lot being the chassis already an r32... Those I think already had a T14a ...

Timing isn’t right. Should start first turn

question. I really want to boost my 2.8 24v. The stock motor can handle boost?? What psi is safe to run on a completely stock 24v?

About the wheelspin comment at the end. I have a bt GTI that used to wheelspin into oblivion. I dont know if youve ever noticed but the motors rock like crazy on stock style mounts. What you can do on the cheap, because $400 performance mounts are too much. You can order some 85 a duro meter rubber and cast your own. I swear the ones I made are just as good as any performance motor mount all for $35. Throttle responce is improved since you dont have the whole drivtrain rocking around like a hammock before it puts the power down. And best part about it wheelspin is drastically reduced. No mor third wheelspin and only a bit of second. Power to the road. th-cam.com/video/PG5A-uGO44g/w-d-xo.htmlsi=xkHYPDXN5juACPdA
