if have hundreds of files in that folder... do i have to do this for each file or there is a way to add a user to multiple files all together? if i select multiple files i do not have SECURITY tab as an option...
Select Folders > Right Click > "Give access to" > Specific People > Enter Username > Click "Add" > Click the Down arrow to the right of their name under "Permission Level" > Select "Read/Write" > Click "Share" > Approve any prompts.
@@yourpststudios well that is how i can SHARE that file, but i have folder filled with folders and files from my Win7. Now i am using that HDD on Win10 and me as Administrator do not have Permission Rights to access them. So I have to add me an OWNER and than add me as USER. I have thousands of files and it will take me hours and days to do that one by one. How to automate or speed up changing the owner on multiple files?
@@ktm640lc4BGD Go to the root folder, right click on empty place in the folder, go to security, make yourself owner, go into permissions inside of security, set it to go to all folders within the folder. Give me a little bit and I can find a quicker/easier method of doing it for you.
@@ktm640lc4BGD I was bored earlier so I made a program that can do it for you. Download/Product Page: tstp.xyz/software/permission-changer/ Video/Demo: th-cam.com/video/UY5S_oOxZvM/w-d-xo.html Has a tutorial in the help menu, the demo video pretty much explains how to operate it, and it has a log of files that saves when you perform the changes so you can check to ensure it got all the files/specific files. Also lets you select which ones you want to change the permissions for and has an option to revert the changes. Should get the job done. Let me know if you still need help after that or if you want to try a different route instead. We can always do it through Windows by adjusting the owner in the security permissions on the properties, but if you have multiple folders and they all aren't in a parent folder you can take ownership of, it will be a bit longer of a process (The program above lets you select multiple folders or files or both at once).
@@yourpststudios wow thanx man! i will save the program just in case but i managed by doing what you wrote, but after half an hour because it wont work unless i check two checkboxes "Replace owner on subcontainers and objects" and "Replace all child object permission entries with inheritable permission entries from this object"... it looks like now it is all ok. Anyways thank you for the right direction, you saved me hours of selective changes!!! you da man... do you have some way to receive donations.. id like to buy you a beer...
