HP ENVY 6055 Printer UnBoxing and Setup HP Smart App

- This is a newer type of a printer which is an all in one, but does not have a display built into the printer. For me - that's my first printer of that kind. Your PC or Smartphone is the control panel and display for this printer! New and cool! Looks very good.
One thing I didn't mention in the video is the POWER BUTTON is located right next to the power supply on the back if the printer.
In the video we take the printer out of the box and go through the whole setup process.

I came across this video while searching for a new printer. You made it look so easy I knew the HP Envy 6055 was what I wanted. So I bought it and set it up. This is the first time I've set up something with NO problems! I'm in shock and have to say thank you, thank you, thank you! No tears for me this time!

Great video. Just got one of these myself and I'm very pleased. Interesting how everything regarding the setup involved the HP Smart app (and the plug-in for printing from the phone). Guess that's the new normal. But I found the onscreen prompts from my MacBook very clear and detailed. Pairing it to my WiFi didn't seem very problematic. It did disconnect one time since I got, but it was still recognized and I was able to reconnect it easily (HP's online customer support was very good in this regard). It's all dependent on your WiFi speed, no doubt (and mine is rather snail like). Like you, I recommend this printer. It is a bit of a shock coming off an old HP All-In-One model from several years ago, but I found the change to be a fun learning experience. For the amount of printing I do at home, this should suffice.

I just picked up one of these last night. I haven't taken it out of the box here. I did a Google search and your video was the first one I clicked on. I cannot believe I did not realize it didn't have the computer screen for the functions on it. I didn't know that my cell phone has to do most of the work. That really is not eternal to me I'm just wondering how it will work with my laptop.
This was a very useful video thank you for taking the time to show us how easy it was to set up. Fortunately for me my last printer was an HP so I already have my account. My printer broke last year after 8 years of service. Like you I was having a difficult time finding a affordable printer with decent features like front and back printing which I loved and feature.

Did you have to go through a set up procedure from each device you are printing from, or do you only have to do it once though the HP Smart app?
@@paulrevelli u only do it once in hp app u may have to download it on every device but u do not have to follow a procedure for each device hoped that answered hour question

Omg, I just purchased one last week and had no clue on how to install. There was no manual attached and didnt know what the lighted keys were for. I spend 2 1/2 hours today with Virtual chat and then with virtual agent. Problem was I had a bad ink cartridge. Seeing your video is a God sent HELP. Now, I have to wait for cartridge to arrive😥

Thank you! It took me about an hour because I couldn’t figure out how to “connect” with WiFi. MAKE SURE THE PRINTER LIGHT IS PURPLE NOT BLUE. It’s straightforward from there. I’ve connected to every device in the house almost (like 8 in total).

I got hp envy 6034 & I don't have home internet! I've printed off my phone before but can't work out why it won't print again also tried to to print off HP laptop & couldn't work that out either
Well, had to returned the printer, I was so frustrated, how still waiting for cartridge that I had to reorder for the first printer. I reorder the same printer and I purchased a USB cord and guess what my printer worked. So the problem for the first printer...there was ni problem. I just needed a USB cord but apparently Virtual Chat didn't know that and 4 weeks later, I received the cartridge I had ordered.☹
I bought this for a friend of mine who is not computer savy. I was able to hook it up using her iPhone. Within the past 3 weeks her printer continues to go offline. I decided to buy a USB cable and hooked it up yesterday. Again, it went offline today. Should I start the whole setup process again? What do the various color lights on the right side mean (other than the Bluetooth). Thank you.
Does this go into sleep mode? Does one have to turn the printer back on physically before printing anything say in a day or 2 later after being left on?

I’m having trouble getting mine to connect to WiFi it keeps saying to go to wifi setting in my phone
@@mariarodriguez-mg4uu whatever wifi you're using is the one you need to select.
You will be sble to print from your phone as long as both the printer and phone connects to the same wifi.
@@Aynotel4987 I got it working. I guess I had to hold the wifi button on the back of the printer for it to pick up a signal!

My HP ENY120 suddenly bit the dust. Just won't turn on. Lately the display had become quirky...leads me to think the mother board has failed. This one looks very similar to my existing failed ENY120 (profile wise) only my 120 is black and has a clear lid to see through to the document which I loved, small footprint and sheik look almost like a DVD player in my AV console. This review is about 6 months old now and just wondering how your printer is holding up? Also, seems the ink is less expensive on yours compared to mine. Does it seem more efficient compared to your last printer as far as ink use? I'm used to the ability of my scanner on my 120 to scan and have the option to save as a PDF to save in the chosen folder on my iMAC. Thats very important for me. If I would still have that option, I may get this printer?
Do you know if the ink injection ports dry out after a long time of no use? I had an other printer a while ago that was not used for several months and it stopped working because the ink dried inside the injection ports and I dont want this to happen again thanks!

Hi. Check the cartridge nozzle quality by printing quality report. One of the colors may be going low or you may just need to clean it manually like in this video below:

Does the Tray extender open and close automatically or manually??. Didn't show in the video and having trouble finding elsewhere. thank you.
It should be automatic for the output, but lower tray is manually adjusted. There should be a tab that you press to extend it.
Thanks for such an informative video. I just ordered a 6055 after watching your review. Two questions what is it your pushing down behind ink cartridges at 3:30 of video. Also did you say to enter my wifi password when asked. Thanks again great video. My printer doesn’t get delivered until September 25th . I’ll definitely use your video to get set up.
Hi. Thank you so much. At 3:30, that is just a paper jam access cover. You dont need to do anything to it when you get your printer. I just wanted to point out that access cover for whenever someone has a paper jam in the future. Hopefully not, but just in case. The password that you need to enter is your home or office network password. There is a password on the back of the printer, but I didn't need it for anything. It may be handy for something else. 303 Electronics::: Thanks for getting back to me the HP 6055 is due Tuesday 9/15. Definitely going to rewatch your video before setting up. Just returned HP3830. Lousy ink cartridge set up. HP 6055 is similar to HP 4520 I’m replacing. Do you think the 3X ink cartridges are worth the extra money? Just talking about black ink cartridge which also are hard to find. Thanks again
@@dpm5519 I do not know of 3X cartridge, only XL. Regular HP 67 cartridges have a page yield of 100 pages. 67XL Black has a 300 page yield and 67xl color cartridge has a 200 page yeild.

Hi. Thank you. Yes, the 6055 and 6052 are pretty much the same printer. 6070 series also has an ADF Feeder on top, but is also the same installation and setup process.

Hi. Yes, you can connect this printer to multiple devices. You will need to have an HP Smary App on all the devices.

Yes. You can use one printer off different phones, tablets, and other PC devices. You just have to make sure you install the app or printer on al devices you want to use the printer on.

It may be different in each region of the world. For US/Canada it is part number A9T80-60008 :

do you know how to get the password for the printer?
Yes. You find this on the left hand when you lift the lid, where the cartridges were. It is a white paper where the PIN or Password appears and also a QR code.
I have an Acer Chromebook CB3-131 and I do not own a cellphone (to download HP Smart) so am finding it impossible to print on my new HP ENVY 6052....should I return the printer?
Go to app store on chrome book. You should find the app there.
Can I use different kinda of paper including sticker paper, glossy paper, cardstock, etc.
Some. Make sure glossy paper us compatible with inkjet printers. As fast as thickness, most cardstock should work as long as it is not too thick.

I have a question, can I buy ink from other places after I buy it?
Yes
I did this before with my other device but am having trouble with my new one. I connected to the printer's WiFi "setup" to my phone's Internet and it's setup in the HP Smart app. I tried connecting to its Internet (not the setup part) like I always do when I print, and it said incorrect password. It's the Printer PIN that's on the back of the printer and on the Info page. I really don't know what the problem is but once I'm able to connect I'll be able to print again 😕
Try uninstalling the printer and install again. If you had a similar model printer, you may be sending the print jobs to your old printer which is same name. Make sure you select the correct printer. Thanks for the comment. Let us know if you got it to work.

@@uglyheadmasks4295 I wonder why it's doing that. I didn't have that problem, so the only thing I can recommend now is to contact support on the app. There may be an answer there. I will look into it later tonight. Im sorry I'm not much help.

why is .e disconnected my HP printer when I am going to use it is disconnected and I have to reconnect it how can I do it so that it remains connected
I am not sure, but usually in the settings is where I'd look. I'll try to research the problem and let you knwo how that can be fixed if I figure it out.

What ink in this printer do you use for heat transfer paper ?
I'm not sure, but I would think that original ink would work. You will need special paper for heat transfer, though. I have read about heat transfer for inkjet printers and found that you do not need to modify printer in any way, just use heat transfer paper for Inkjet Printers. Thanks. I hope this helps.
Might be a dumb question but can you print bussines cards (cardstock paper) with this printer.?..i ask because i was told at bestbuy you couldnt...
Cardstock should work as long as it is not too thick. If the cardstock is too thick the printer will most likely jam.
@@Killian_P. its alright i went for the office jet pro 8035....couldnt be happier with it AND is very much capable with cardstock for long term use and normal use so...it was a much better buy in the end.👍

It usually does that by itself. Check settings too. The light will probably stay on unless you turn printer off. The power button is in the back of the printer.

How to get an enlarged copy?
Hi. To make an enlarged copy you will need to use the app on your phone or computer. You can still use the glass on printer to make a copy.
My ink cartilage isn’t working so upset I have tried taking it out and re installing
Hi. Try taking the cartridges out and clean contact area on the printer ink carrier and on the cartridges. Also, make sure you have correct cartridges and set the printer region properly.

You only need to download "HP Smart" app on desktop or laptop.

The ink won’t work in mine
Does anyone know how to check the ink levels on the app? It only alerts me when it’s low on ink but I want to be able to always check the levels and to know whether it’s the color or black ink that is low
Hi. The ink levels should be on the main page of the app. Press on the printer and it will show ink levels.

Can this be added to a desk top rather then to a smart phone? I don't have a smart phone. I print from my computer often, I really need it. My old one needs replaced, but only need a small one for personal use. Thank you.
Yes, of course. You can download the smart app software to your computer. The only way to connect is wireless.

The Canon sounds like the HP. It says wireless. I'm lost, I'm afraid. Do I have to give all my info in order to get a Canon? I don't want emails every day or the machine telling me what or where to go. I just want a printer/scanner. No interference from the company.

I do not think you need to connect your phone to wifi. Just as long as you have service on your phone, you should be good to print.

I haven't tried to connect this printer model using Bluetooth, but when I did try to do it on a Canon printer with similar concept, it basically used the Bluetooth connection to connect the printer to your wireless router. Ended up using the wireless router connection instead of Bluetooth anyway. What I like about new Canon printers is that they still left a small screen and few buttons to be able to use printer and maintain without a phone or computer. Hi. If you have "inkjet printable" transparency film, it will, if not too thick also.
For some reason I can't find the ink cartridges nr. 67 for this printer ANYWHERE. What's the point of buying a printer if you can't even buy ink for it??
go in the hp website and order it there, thats the only place you’re guaranteed to find it
