    • @PinkSwirlsSoap
      @PinkSwirlsSoap  3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Hello , your welcome. I used a plastic jar, but it would last the same time in both jars. It can last 8-12 months unopened. Six months once opened.
      I personally don’t like the idea of packaging with glass because when using the product with wet hands, the jar can get slippery.

    • @irishamericanpinupdoll

      Stephensons crystal opc comes in a 2 lb containers (and up) and you can add up to the same weight in sugar (though I’d stay in the 1/2 to 3/4 the amount) then the fragrance bc oil amount will depend on which one you purchase…. Essential oils have usage rates and so do fragrance oils. Most places where you would order an oil will have safe usage rates. Color is mica, which is strictly added to your liking in color.
      * The oils used in this (other than fragrance to achieve the desired scent) are completely unnecessary to a great successful scrub, but everyone including this lovely lady can use oils and other additives to enhance it. Certain additives will change texture or even foaming/bubbling (adding honey in more than tiny amounts will kill bubbles in soap products) The OPC base contains a preservative and the Tocopherol can act as another preservative so she in essence triple preserved this batch. Unless you wanted to add the oils to give further moisture (keep in mind it’s a wash off scrub product, so they aren’t needed), they will actually hinder the lovely perfect stuff whip intended by Stephenson with this base, that you would get without it. This was her choice but not needed, and she’s very aware that it changes the outcome of the OPC sugar scrub mix. Making whipped foaming soaps and sugar scrubs are so much fun, and once you build some familiarity with the chemistry and how ingredients all work in a formulation, it’s really fun to make your own bases and it can really save money while giving you quality control and perfecting your product. I hope you enjoy your journey and I hope this helped !

    • @irishamericanpinupdoll
      @irishamericanpinupdoll ปีที่แล้ว

      You saw many recipes with m&p added to the Stephenson base specifically? That’s so strange! Stephensons crystal opc is the cheat for the scrubs because you literally have no formulation…. All you do is whip it, add sugar, scent and color (and if you have a preferred additive) and Voila!!
      The only recipes I have seen with the m&p used (which isn’t in all of them, but I have seen it) were actual formulations where the presenter was making it “from scratch” I guess an analogy would be baking a cake with a cake mix versus baking a cake from scratch if that makes sense… I hope that makes sense?❤

    Looks great so I have one question. How do you calculate your weight of each product?

    • @PinkSwirlsSoap

      I just weigh each jar on the scale.

    • @verneshial684
      @verneshial684 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      So do the Calculation equals 8 oz exactly?. I have problems where when I add product to contain it’s full & scale is less than 8 oz.

    • @PinkSwirlsSoap
      @PinkSwirlsSoap  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@verneshial684 no not every product added to a jar is going to equal the same size of the jar. Sometimes it may be over or under. I place my jar on the scale, tear it out then weigh the actual product that’s going inside. That’s what I put on my labels for the customers to see. I want them to know how much product their getting. Not what the size of the jar is. TO ME, that’s deceiving.

      It depends on the preservative that you use, every preservative has its own usage rate. • @PinkSwirlsSoap
      @PinkSwirlsSoap  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Have you ever made it before? If not you need to take it slow and start small. Get a 5 lb for practice to make samples for people to try it first. That would also be the best way for you to determine how much product you will always need to purchase.
      If this isn’t your first time, I would go with 10 lbs to be on the safe side for 30-40 scrubs. It also depends on the size of your jars?
