    In my Moment camera app review I find out whether Pro Camera by Moment is the best all in one photo & video app for iOS, or whether it's just another 'jack of all trades: master of none'.

    Great honest and thorough review without being 40 minutes long!! Would love a follow up now, a few years later to see your thoughts on any new features that have been added and if they’ve fixed any of the problems you had with it.

    I just ordered two Moment lenses and a case for my iPhone 11Pro Max. They arrive in several days. While waiting, I downloaded the Moment software and immediately felt overwhelmed. So I went to TH-cam and found tutorials and your review. Your review was reassuring that it is good software and once learned, it should be a great tool to capture good photos.
    So, thank you. You got my ”like” and subscription.

    Pisicul, thanks for taking the time to deliver a very thoughtful in depth view of the Moment App, much appreciated! I too have the Filmic Pro app. I agree with your comparison points. I haven't probably tested it with the necessary rigor, but my initial thoughts are shared with your insights. I've been keenly interested in the Moment lenses, yet my budget has other priorities, so I haven't taken the plunge yet. But, I was excited about the app, just curious to see what it's about. The Moment app seems to have a lot of the very practical iPhone video shoot challenges covered to raise the bar on what I'm trying to do. Thanks again for sharing your take on this app! I have other camera gear yet I have a passion for photography and videography with my (currently) iPhone 8 Plus.

    Liked your review a lot. Very definite especially on the section concerning lenses. Given the technology and increasing capabilities of mobile phones, it still remains that, if you're going a little further in taking photos and videos, use of lenses certainly open possibilities in the hardware department. The built-in lens settings in Moment app marries the app's capabilities with lens installed (to spare users' learning curve about just the right settings). Your review is very much appreciated. Kudos to your channel!

Only problem for me so far is that when using this app vs the mimo app for the OM4 i will lose live tracking, so i dont know how much different or if its going to be noticeable to change from one app to another just for a couple of tracking takes, other than that imma give it a try, thanks man!

    David, I recently went to a concert and tried to record it with both native app and moment app. I found these issues.
    1. With native app, even if I choose 3x zoom, it doesn’t switch to telephoto lens until I zoom like 3.5-4x or sometimes more. I used the moment app to hard select the lens.
    2. I see that even after selecting hevc format, it is still shooting H.264. I do not see HDR and Dolby atmos as well. The native video app is much brighter and the difference can be seen.
    3. I turned on stabilization on moment app but it doesn’t look like it is being stabilized. There was a lot of movement and the footage looks really bad. But when I shoot with native app, the stabilization is extremely good and the video looks smooth.
    I am not sure if I’m facing this or this is an issue with the app.

I want to be able to take photos of my artwork but I find the photos have a horrid harshness and are not true to colour which was never an issue with the Huwawei camera. What lenses are you using that you mentioned are cheaper than moment lenses?

  • @jao_uy
    @jao_uy 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Pisicul, watching the video of the developers of the app, they says that the functionality of lenses is just to add information to the data of the image not to correct de image in order of distortion. And another thing that I notice is that long exposures are also a lot of images not lot of time the diafragma open. A petty. Thanks for the great review!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

      Yes, phones can't expose for longer than 1 second at the moment so long exposure or 'slow shutter' effects are many images stitched together.

    Can you remote control the moment app with an iPad ?

    Can you set raw as the default setting for iPhone 12. Can’t stand missing a raw shot because I forgot to switch it🤬

    Very informative , am a beginner , using iPhone XR , and would like to do you tube videos and posting stills, suggest me which lens is to buy

      For TH-cam videos and stills I'd recommend sticking with the built-in lens. Just press record! Good luck!

    I’m confused between ProCamera. and Pro cam 8, which one is better for both photo & video shooting and editing?

      The ProCamera app I meant is by Cocologics

    • @David_Addison

      Thanks! It's a tough one. For photo and video they'll both do very well but if I had to pick one it'd be Pro Cam 8.

    How can chang aspect ratio of the image

  • @Norway68

    Hi! You are the reason I got Ulanzi lenses! 😀 But, I have a question for you. That is’ when you use the Moment App and shoot in Raw. And transfer too the picture folder on the IPhone, and downloading the pic too the Lightroom app. Are they still in Raw? So I can use them in the EyeEm app? Since EyeEm only except Raw picture and File size. (That was the question of the year I imagine.) 🙈😉 Regards Alex

    • @David_Addison
      @David_Addison  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Alex, yes they will be DNG. In the iPhone Photos app you’ll see JPGs but when you import them into Lightroom they will be DNG 🙂👍

    • @Norway68
      @Norway68 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pisicul Meu Okey, means also that I can use them in EyeEm too.. 😊 Maybe that’s a vid you should make.. import RAW files from app to app? Like’ Moment app, too Lightroom app edit, then over to EyeEm? Anyway! Great work, and like you’re vids because you do it honestly. Like that! 👍

    when you use your phone for shooting picture or movies you have it in landscape or portrait mode?
    Yes like I tought you would so it's dam confusing that you need to look sideways or turn your phone into portrait to work in menus.

    great! is there also a halide II compared to moment video?

    • @David_Addison
      @David_Addison  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They’re 2 very different apps, a comparison wouldn’t be fair. Like comparing an SUV to a Ferrari, both do the same thing but have different purposes.

      Hey dude, thanks for such a positive comment 😊 Yeah while you’re getting started focus on composition instead of settings. I have another video about the Ulanzi Anamorphic Lens that goes in detail about cinematic video using the Moment app as well. You should find that useful!

    I’ve also experienced crashes. But it just needs all the Ram in your phone to run all those functions in one app. Any iPhone with more Ram should be good to go with the app. Less crashes were reported with the iPhone 11 because of that extra 1GB of Ram. 😅, I guess apple needs to up their hardware specs a bit more.

      Pisicul Meu yessir! The grading for the pictures and videos you took in the moment app

    • @David_Addison
      @David_Addison  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dwayne Brown Aw well thank you. I grade the video and time lapses with luma scopes in FCPX just by bringing the highlights up to around 100 and the shadows down to 0 then I’ll make the blues more teal-ish and might adjust the hue curves if needed. I’m really impressed Moment’s log footage responds so well to grading. And the photos I edit in Lightroom on my iPhone with Adobe’s Vintage profiles and curves adjustments mainly.

    • @DwayneBrown
      @DwayneBrown 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pisicul Meu wowww, so simple huh lol... thanks much!Too bad I don’t have FCPX, I’ll try to mess around with other apps though.
