From Japan BAND-MAID is a five-member girl rock band. This year marks their 12th anniversary. The members have not changed. They are a hard rock band and are considered by fans to be one of the best hard rock bands in the world. They usually have 23 songs and 2 hours of live performances. They were formed in Japan in 2013 by side guitarist Miku Kobato. Miku had experience working at a maid cafe in Akihabara, Tokyo, and came up with the idea of playing cool music in maid outfits. That's why the band was named BAND-MAID. "Thrill" was their first music video in 2014, and six months later, it suddenly achieved 2 million views in two weeks, avoiding disbandment and deciding to become a hard rock band. They have also performed overseas and are gaining more fans. Currently, they write, compose, and arrange all of their songs themselves. They have 140 original songs. They have 60 songs published on their official You Tube, and all of them are killer songs.

Yes, it's what made me become a massive fan of this band. They are intricate and heavy instrumentally but they are accessible because of their lead vocalist and their catchy choruses. It's the perfect combination.
"Puzzle" is a compositional masterpiece with many layers. It's one of those songs where each time you listen, you hear something you didn't notice before. That's pretty much a Band-Maid trademark in their songs. Rosie might prefer something from their catalogue that's a little more simple in structure like "Freedom" or something slower paced like "Daydreaming".

They do use a good bit of English in their songs and they have toured the U.S. a few times and for me, I am 55 and I believe that they are the best band ever. They take their music seriously,and their look is from Japanese maid cafes. The thought was having a cute look while playing rock music.

It's something that started decades ago, and continues to today, popular with Japanese listeners, and, of course, it helps make the song a bit more accessible to those who speak English. And for those writers who are good with it, this allows them some greater options and depth with they lyrics. First listeners to BAND-MAID are happy and confused at the same time. These ladies are tight, awesome rockers. If you like rock & roll, these 5 ladies from Japan (Saiki-vocals; Miku- backing vocals & rhythm guitar; Kanami-lead guitar; Misa-bass; and Akane-drums) will change your life. Try some of their staple songs like "Thrill", "Dice", "Hate?" "Choose Me", "Onset (live vers)". They are incredibly hard rocking maids I believe you will really enjoy. Other MAIDIACs (like me) have suggested great songs as well so check them out. IMO, this is the band most of us have be waiting for!🎀
This is what happens when a pop singer recruits a metal power trio as their backing band, and then they decide they need another pop vocalist to break though the pounding drums, grooving bass, and shredding guitar. "Puzzle" is among my favorite Band-Maid songs, but they've written so many good songs over their 12 year career and they seem to get better every year. It's common to hear, "I've just found my favorite Band-Maid song" after just about any Band-Maid reaction video, no matter what song it was, because they've released so many great songs. The ladies of Band-Maid will astound you with the width and breadth of their endlessly deep catalog of music. Like many Japanese rock groups, they mix and match genres: rock, pop, punk, funk, groove, metal, rap, fusion, folk rock, and anything that floats their boat: their songs can be a three ring circus at times. They do tour internationally. Based in Tokyo, they've toured Europe and North America. I caught them in 2023 when they played played a small club in Detroit, Michigan and then at an outdoor festival in Columbus, Ohio. They do not disappoint: you won't find a more engaging touring band anywhere as they interact with the audience during set breaks. They have a wicked sense of humor and their mostly family friendly show leaves a smile on your face.
It sounds like your Mic is picking up your Speakers and the Noise Gate is ducking the music even without you talking. It sounds like it's being squashed by a Brick Wall Limiter. You should fix that. BAND-MAID is best enjoyed with full Headphones anyway to get all that Low End that is generated by Akane & MISA. If it's too heavy they have a soft acoustic version of this song as well. Is this their biggest song? This isn't even the best Official LIVE version of it, but it was taken off of TH-cam ahead of a DVD release. Since you have your daughter reacting with you I think you should try the Music Video for 'Unleash' next, in which the girls appear in anime form. Kids like Cartoons, right? Sure they do!

Rosie needs to take up piano then transition to guitar or drums in high school. That's how Band Maid makes it look so easy. They have been playing since 3 or 4 Y/O, Po! "Manners" and "Sayonakidori" are very good. "Thrill" was their break through video and it's more classic rock. I love all their music though. Just don't pick "Don't Let Me Down" unless you're flying solo. It's pretty risque!
I am seriously hoping that the sound I hear in this video is not the sound Channon and Rosie were hearing when they when they reacted to this song. You kind of need a respectable sound system to hear Band-Maid in it's full glory. Alternatively, respectable headphones would do the job. Nevertheless, there seems to be much appreciation for this performance, so I am hoping that they really heard it much better over in their studio.

To answer your question, Channon, a lot of Japanese bands sprinkle in English with the Japanese lyrics. It's something that started decades ago, and continues to today, popular with Japanese listeners, and, of course, it helps make the song a bit more accessible to those who speak English. And for those writers who are good with it, this allows them some greater options and depth with they lyrics.

First listeners to BAND-MAID are happy and confused at the same time. These ladies are tight, awesome rockers. If you like rock & roll, these 5 ladies from Japan (Saiki-vocals; Miku- backing vocals & rhythm guitar; Kanami-lead guitar; Misa-bass; and Akane-drums) will change your life. Try some of their staple songs like "Thrill", "Dice", "Hate?" "Choose Me", "Onset (live vers)". They are incredibly hard rocking maids I believe you will really enjoy. Other MAIDIACs (like me) have suggested great songs as well so check them out. IMO, this is the band most of us have be waiting for!🎀

This is what happens when a pop singer recruits a metal power trio as their backing band, and then they decide they need another pop vocalist to break though the pounding drums, grooving bass, and shredding guitar.
"Puzzle" is among my favorite Band-Maid songs, but they've written so many good songs over their 12 year career and they seem to get better every year. It's common to hear, "I've just found my favorite Band-Maid song" after just about any Band-Maid reaction video, no matter what song it was, because they've released so many great songs. The ladies of Band-Maid will astound you with the width and breadth of their endlessly deep catalog of music. Like many Japanese rock groups, they mix and match genres: rock, pop, punk, funk, groove, metal, rap, fusion, folk rock, and anything that floats their boat: their songs can be a three ring circus at times.
They do tour internationally. Based in Tokyo, they've toured Europe and North America. I caught them in 2023 when they played played a small club in Detroit, Michigan and then at an outdoor festival in Columbus, Ohio. They do not disappoint: you won't find a more engaging touring band anywhere as they interact with the audience during set breaks. They have a wicked sense of humor and their mostly family friendly show leaves a smile on your face.

It sounds like your Mic is picking up your Speakers and the Noise Gate is ducking the music even without you talking. It sounds like it's being squashed by a Brick Wall Limiter. You should fix that. BAND-MAID is best enjoyed with full Headphones anyway to get all that Low End that is generated by Akane & MISA. If it's too heavy they have a soft acoustic version of this song as well. Is this their biggest song? This isn't even the best Official LIVE version of it, but it was taken off of TH-cam ahead of a DVD release. Since you have your daughter reacting with you I think you should try the Music Video for 'Unleash' next, in which the girls appear in anime form. Kids like Cartoons, right? Sure they do!

Being a family reaction channel, you should watch the best family teen rock band in the world now. Missioned Souls. A male drummer age 10 and his three sisters on guitar aged 12/14/15. They have many many great covers but check out their Band Maid Cover of Bestie. They rock. I promise u will be blown away by their skill at such a young age. New sub Cheers!!

Thank you for trying the Maids! Your first question was about the English lyrics. Miku 🌹 usually adds English at the end of verses and in chorus chants to engage a larger audience. She even finds ways to rhyme English with her native Japanese!
As an old blues rock musician, my playlists probably look a lot like yours, except for the 60+ Band Maid songs. They really do have that many bangers!

Having said that, I do advise you to craft your messages with appropriate punctuation. Who wishes to read a comment that has no punctuation? If you, the author, do not care about such things, then why would most people give the time of day to read your comment? It's such a pity, since the points you make are food for thought and should have more people mulling over them.
Rosie needs to take up piano then transition to guitar or drums in high school. That's how Band Maid makes it look so easy. They have been playing since 3 or 4 Y/O, Po! Welcome to the "Down the Pigeon Hole We Go, Po!" journey. They are definitely an inspiration for aspiring young girls who want to play music with their best friends, Po! 🦍🍌

"Manners" and "Sayonakidori" are very good. "Thrill" was their break through video and it's more classic rock. I love all their music though. Just don't pick "Don't Let Me Down" unless you're flying solo. It's pretty risque!

I am seriously hoping that the sound I hear in this video is not the sound Channon and Rosie were hearing when they when they reacted to this song. You kind of need a respectable sound system to hear Band-Maid in it's full glory. Alternatively, respectable headphones would do the job.
Nevertheless, there seems to be much appreciation for this performance, so I am hoping that they really heard it much better over in their studio.
