7:03 The reserve setting does not cap the amount of resources in a building, but instead it will only take the resource if there are more than the reserve available.
This is such a good series, it's a very different vibe from the normal content but so fun to watch, this is the best city builder channel I'm loving the content.
Seriously digging Manor Lords! Stoked to see how far this game will go when it’s completed/keeps receiving updates. The idea of forming an entire kingdom from scratch is just so dope
It has its early access hickups, but there is a lot of depth already and many cool mechanics to explore. There is a regular 25% off every now and then.
A few things to note: on Taxes, while it seems like you can only go in increments of 10 you can highlight the number and make it whatever you want. So instead of 10% try 3 or 4%, that will lessen the impact to happiness. This is something I think needs to be more intuitive. The berry patches continue to spawn from March to July I think, meaning the plot will continue to add berries up to the total. So if you build two foraging huts and fully staff them in March you will collect far more than 64 berries as you deplete the available stock so the regrowth (around 40) can refill the plot up to 64. But if it's at say 50 it will add 40 but anything over 64 will be lost. On combat make sure you're always keeping melee units between the enemy and your archers. The AI seems to always want to attack unguarded archers as they are easy to kill and rout. Form kind of a C shape with your melee units and the archers behind them, that will help stop a flanking attack and allow your archers to work to kill the effectiveness of enemy units.
"This is something I think needs to be more intuitive." - The box around the number with brighter background clearly looks like an input field. Why else would there be that box? A number that you can only change via controls is pretty much always shown on the same background as the controls, whereas a number that you can also directly change via typing has a box around it, typically with brighter background. That's how it is in any decent UI. It should be totally intuitive already to anyone who spent more that a day around a PC. What else do you need to tell you that you can edit these numbers? A tutorial text that you skim through and forget already five minutes later?
A morgen was the amount of land a peasant could plow in a single morning. He would tend to his morgen before working his lord's fields for the remainder of the day. What was harvested from his morgen was his to keep, after the lord's tax and church's tithing was deducted from it. He could then take it to the miller to be ground into flour, at the cost of a small amount of said flour, which went to the miller.
Little tip I found out while playing today, when a fire breaks out the workers in the manor and maybe others come out to stop it. They have to go to the well and run to the fire multiple times to put it out. If some houses catch fire due to lightning it could take awhile for them to reach the well and back. I started placing them speraticly around the city just in case
Bro this is my first time seeing your face 1:09 after all these years subscribed to u lol. Keep up the good work! Love the vids! This channel brings out the architecture student in me lol
It's always amusing (and very touching) when, at the end of his videos, CPP thanks us for hanging out with him instead of doing something else. There are precious few things I'd rather do than watch a competent and kind man build a world while keeping his people's best short- and long-term interests in mind. So, thank you for your imperfect little utopias. I'll choose them over anything else every time!
Flax, wheat, and barley fertilities are tracked separately so when one is growing the other two are raising fertility. if you have fertility for all three under one field you can set the rotation and never have the field be fallow.
This is such a weird mechanic? I can't remember seeing this in the game's guides that you can find in-game. Is this supposed to be like this? Or a feature that is bugged?
1st episode:"i'm gonna place lumbermill down here because i want to keep these trees up on the hill, they look nice" 2nd episode: places 3 hitching posts destroying several trees in the process love it xD
I only JUST started playing Manor Lords, and hadn't watched any videos on it until I took a drive on the ol' struggle bus! Thanks to your videos, I've learned SO much and feel like I am getting better
I am quite fond of this play-through even in the second episode. Not only loaded with tons of great ways to progress the game, but also with amazing visuals ideas for a more medieval look to our cities. Excellent!
One piece of advice - add the extra living space to all the burgage plots you can. It's an easier way to get another worker family as well as ensuring whatever they are doing in their back yard is producing as efficiently as possible
Also the double plot only uses one fuel, and counts as a single for the tavern and wells, so its more efficient as well 99% of the time. Only for very specific reasons, like some of the artisan buildings where you don't want to "trap" too many families in jobs, will you want to build single plots. On the other hand. if you are going for form over function then sure. And I'm not sure if he knows that building bigger plots for vegetable/orchards will yield way more food.
I somewhat agree, some of the things could've been more slow and with more time to enjoy the look of the gradual growth of the city, instead to speed up everything.
Just found and watched the last episode yesterday and loved it! Came again into the channel looking if a new episode dropped and it actually did! You're doing amazing videos man, i'm loving the series so far, thanks!
I watch a lot of other people's videos on Manor Lords and have watched a ton of your tutorials on City Skylines. But have really enjoyed how you explained the reason behind the building mechanics of the game. Keep going with this series. And your video editing makes it great to watch.
Absolutely loved this latest video on Manor Lords, Cityman! Your insights and gameplay strategies always make it so enjoyable to watch. Keep up the fantastic work, and I can’t wait to see more content like this in the future!
I'm really loving this series. I'm new to city builders and your first ep made me buy this game though, I'm finding it very difficult! These videos are not just enjoyable to watch but also useful as a learning resource.
Hey Phil. Loving the series so far i'm loving that you've returned to Manor Lords! One comment on your military strategy... It takes a bit of micromanaging, but you can easily rout bandits if you position your archers behind the enemy while your melee troops are in combat with them.
Dude, your voice is so soothing. Like I never lose interest in the video while just melting into my chair for the entire thing, just listening to you explain things. Mad jealous man and great video!
Just a little thought: with things like stables and storehouses, you can play around with them like you would with assets in CS to create what look like linked buildings. Like it's fitting to have a handful of stables and a store house in a linked little cluster with an inn at it's heart
My new fav series! Such a beautiful looking game, mixed with your skills of developing a great looking town. Love seeing the upgrades being built and the workers in the fields, amazing details.
Experiencing this game vicariously through your series, once again the nostalgia creeping in, getting reminded of playing Stronghold, especially 2. Setting up the "Bread chain" is a staple of those games and seeing it here made me smile. I adored watching the whole process from field to mill to bakery to granary and I'm curious if we get to see the people actually take their respective produce over to the next station. Also is it just me or does our character feel a tad too big when walking around the place? Excited for the next part!
I started a village on this same zone. The starting camp was on the bluff, but the hunting area and the fish were on the bottom, so I set the village at the bottom and it took until December to get the houses built

For the well one person from each family will have to go to the well to get water, and if buildings are on fire they need to reach the well quickly so you should make multiple wells around the community.

One chicken coop produces one egg per month per family. So, having two families per plot is beneficial.
That’s great info! Will add to them in the next one!
Yeah, they really nerfed chicken coops. It's seems useless now.
