Adam, I hope this gets to you. I want to thank you for creating these videos, they're an inspiration. 4 years ago you did a video where you woodturned a bowl. The video intrigued me, it turned out my grandad was a woodturner, so I asked for some lessons. Since that day I have been woodturning and I enjoy every minute of it. In fact in my second year of visiting a woodturning club, I won the Novice Turner of the year award, the youngest recipient since the start of the award. I've recently been making pens and giving 20% of the profits to a charity I volunteer for. I just wanted to thankyou for inspiring me to try something new, it changed my life. Keep up the good work
Bit of felt lined foam on the top(for protection), with the paper _slightly_ indented so it doesn't wrinkle. So 5 pieces of foam. 4 for the edges, and one for the paper which is slightly shorter
I love this build! One minor nitpick on the weathering job though: I think it's some cosmic rule of the universe that oil bottles leak... so I'd think it's bottle or at least the spot it sits would have oil spots or smudges where it rubbed, or at least be the most heavily weathered/darkened spot

Beautiful. This is gonna look fantastic. Especially when the oil can leaks a bit and the felt there turns transparent brown. The Samaritan will leave creases and lines in the felt and oil will wick out of it too. This gets more and more dope with every video. I hope there's plenty more in the future.
I know Adam is just getting work done by going to the saw half a dozen times in like 10 minutes, that's fine. But I appreciate the editor for cutting the video to minimize the noise and just have Adam talking. That would get old to go loud quiet loud quiet loud so much. XD Kudos yall.
I think this particular build is where a CNC machine would be Adams best friend. Perfectly fit and machined compartments in a solid thing of wood/lightweight materials.
It's hard to put into words how much joy Adam brings me. I love everything he builds and how much passion and excitement he brings to all his projects. He shares so much with us and I believe he inspires not just the next generation of makers but their children as well. Thank you for sharing with us
There aren’t many TH-cam channels that can hold my attention for an hour and a half video. I love watching your mind work out little things here and there and seeing how you would do things differently than I might. Watching the pure joy and satisfaction on your face bringing an idea to life from scratch is amazing. What I wouldn’t give to spend some time in that shop creating things along side you.
One thing I thought you’d do differently was with all the empty space under the display area of the case, I thought you might make it pull out and then have storage below for your spare parts bin, or a new one made to fit, possibly even storage for the cartridge belt. All of your Samaritan goodies in one place!
The song during the felting part was real this old house vibes. Very nostalgic for me. Reminded me of sitting on the floor watching it at my grand parent's house.
The most tragic part of this build was Adam not realizing Hellboy would never have been able to pick up those bullets with his left hand because of the tight space.
His right hand is the stone one. And besides, he doesn't need to fit it in there, he can't fire the gun with the stone hand but he can easily hold it with his right in order to load it with his left
Tuff call on the ammo, the "engraved brass" looks awesome as well as the bullets. Tough call to go tail or heads up but the tube is a neat way to go also. Nice work Adam!!!
I love the big long one day build videos! Nothing better than stacking them all up in a playlist for having on in the background when I'm working from home
The narration over the time lapse at around 33 min seems to finally solve people wanting to hear the way Adam talks his way through his brain while not making the video 4 hours long. Good job!
Looking great! Maybe you can put some kind already "dirty" cleaning rag in there. Or a cover cloth over top, something you'll see in older gibson guitar cases.
The entire interior isn't historical, if you wanna talk military.😅 So might as well. Presentation cases regularly had felt in the lid as well, so wouldn't be THAT odd.😊
@@MichaelBerthelsen Not just that - many had little (felted) wooden blocks to ensure there was firm contact with the items inside so they didn't move around when actually carrying the carry case
It's just a gift to be able to build things exactly how you want it and it come together perfectly and vision what your making before you make Adam is truly a Savage at craftsmanship
"Glue Nernies" - nice ref to the Blue Meanies. Not sure your younger viewers will get it, but we oldies appreciate a good Beatles reference! I was shouting at the screen "You've forgotten to account for the thickness of the felt!" You made the liner box so accurately that just that was enough to stop it fitting. Luckily you were able to rescue this outstanding piece of work! Well done! Once again proving that the difference between a professional and a hobbyist is the ability of the pro to recover from an error.
At beginning he said he was going ot make them fit while loaded or unloaded, but did not. Plus to no lid to the "loose" tools. I think the bare metal of the lid is a touch unrealistic to me as as well. He said the project is still on going, and he'd revisit the case in a bit. I hope he takes consideration for these "issues" and other I may have missed. He has motivated me to want to make my own case for something as well.
Id like to put a big shout out to Adam Savage here... What a year its being, so much has gone on, but coming to your videos and you've put plenty up has being such a welcome break from what seems the norm these days, many times ive being down or just fed up, then i see you posted a video and my spirits have being lifted, and stay lifted for many hours after, and even inspired me with your joy and generally just being a nice guy, Thanks Adam

Adam, I love when you walk out of frame to go digging for something and we can hear you rummaging around and talking. I do the same thing when I'm talking about my work. Because I'm a writer and a world builder, I'm usually looking for a book or a piece of concept art I've collected. But I do the exact same thing. It makes me giggle.
I would have put the gun and bullets and "magic devices"( those silver things with rings? I dont know what they are) on one removable tray on top and put all tools and gun oil below on another tray

I *think* they showed up in one of the movies, but regardless, they're one of those ideas that always makes the rounds when people try to "seriously" discuss how to kill vampires with a gun. Intoxicants may be involved. I may have participated.
Way overbuilt!! I love it!!! Just one thing - Felt the top!! I have a vintage camera box that is built like this.... all the felts are stained and the outside fabric is wearing off... it's Amazing.

I feel like Hellboy's gun case would contain a variety of different types of charms and protective wards, especially since his Right Hand of Doom is probably too clumsy for him to do much maintenance on the Samaritan himself, especially in the field. In the comics, he does canonically carry a bunch of items like that around with him
i love these in depth build. this whole samaritan build is so good. i hope you do more big projects like this and I hope you keep this format of being alone in the shop, I really like it
This really shows how gifted your mind is. you literally created a jig saw puzzle just by put some peaces next to each other and seeing the space they took up. You are an amazing person would love to meet you one day. Not just watch you perform so to speak in San Francisco. All though that was amazing in it self.

I absolutely love watching these videos! I think playing lofi hip hop or jazz during the fast pace parts would make it that much better. I just feel that those genres would fit your aesthetic better. You’re the man! I enjoy your videos and I hope you have a wonderful day 😁
Never apologize for doing something that you truly enjoy doing. We can choose to watch or not :). I personally always love your builds, so no matter what you are building I find it soothing to watch, and/or keep me company at work. At the start of your pin nailing I was wondering how the heck do you always hit that 1/4 inch plywood and not blast through. Later to find out that you do in fact miss every so often. I find it hard to line up my eye properly on blind screws/fasteners. Excellent video!
OMG!!! @ 58:27sec, when Adam was cutting the green felt, all that I could think was ... "your a mean one, Mr. Grinch" when I saw him with his big scissors cutting the green felt. Just Awesome! Loved this Hellboy build series.

Please, add a felt covered top to the inner box? Something with a leather pull or hinges. That will keep the items from banging against the metal lid.

I was just thinking that. Could also use some grease staining too. Cleaning a gun is messy work.
Was thinking he should have put gun oil in the airbrush instead of paint.
As I was was watching this I had the exact same thought when he mentioned the weathering. Maybe a thing to fix up later.
Possible addition for weathering/storytelling, some cigar burns and ash stains...Hellboy loves a good stogy
This. Plus , the gun would NOT be oiled enough to leave a big stain, but certainly would leave a few oil rubs.
The overwhelming joy I felt when I saw this video is an hour 23 minutes long.

Very cool! The only thing I would have changed was having the tool area be able to lift out and have storage for the gun belt below it.

Well usually some of those cases were two tiered so you could store extra ammo and such on the lower tier

I have to say, as a carpenter for the last 20 years, your accuracy with that Brad nailer in 1/4 plywood is most impressive.
Loved the section between 33:00 and 34:00, with the fast video and normal speed audio. It went together seamlessly.

I also find it slighlt odd to put an old style weapons case inside a more modern metal army box.
Gun, holster, speedloaders and ammo top tray. Screwdrivers, lubricating oil, solvents and cleaning rod in bottom tray.
The hot glue speed loads make me so happy, like the action hero of making things is coming to save the day
I'm concerned that the initial time lapse never showed Adam testing to see if the plywood box actually fits in the case :-).

This really shows how gifted your mind is. you literally created a jig saw puzzle just by put some peaces next to each other and seeing the space they took up. You are an amazing person would love to meet you one day. Not just watch you perform so to speak in San Francisco. All though that was amazing in it self.

I absolutely love watching these videos! I think playing lofi hip hop or jazz during the fast pace parts would make it that much better. I just feel that those genres would fit your aesthetic better. You’re the man! I enjoy your videos and I hope you have a wonderful day 😁

Never apologize for doing something that you truly enjoy doing. We can choose to watch or not :). I personally always love your builds, so no matter what you are building I find it soothing to watch, and/or keep me company at work. At the start of your pin nailing I was wondering how the heck do you always hit that 1/4 inch plywood and not blast through. Later to find out that you do in fact miss every so often. I find it hard to line up my eye properly on blind screws/fasteners. Excellent video!

OMG!!! @ 58:27sec, when Adam was cutting the green felt, all that I could think was ... "your a mean one, Mr. Grinch" when I saw him with his big scissors cutting the green felt. Just Awesome! Loved this Hellboy build series.
