As a North Eastern Indian, who have visited Malaysia (KL, Langkawi, Mellaca). Me and my wife actually planned a trip to Malaysia next month (Oct 2024). But because of budget constraints, we cancelled our plans and instead went for Thailand. Although we plan to visit Malaysia on Jan. And yeah, i agree with whatever you said here. Malaysia is not very budget friendly for tourists.

Honestly, I don't know enough to comment but based on a study, Malaysia was the most visited country by tourists in 2023.
