A guided tour of the mighty Concorde at the Brooklands Museum just outside of London, including technical briefing, internal video and fun facts.
G-BBDG was the third Concorde built in Britain and this country's first production Concorde.
Her maiden flight took place on February 13th 1974, and thereafter she carried out a large
part of the certification work that saw Concorde flying in commercial service between 1976
    and 2003.
Delta-Golf was called a production aircraft, but she never went into commercial service
because the final version specified by the airlines was different yet again, although not in a
way that affected handling or performance certification. The aircraft carried many tons of
test equipment to monitor hundreds of aircraft parameters during this certification flying.
Delta-Golf was the fastest production Concorde and, on August 17, 1974, she became the
first aircraft ever to carry 100 people at Mach 2 - twice the speed of sound. Later in her
flying life she was used to test performance modification that would eventually be fitted to
the British Airways and Air France fleets, allowing increase range for the aircraft, thus
enabling British Airways to operate scheduled Concorde services to Barbados.
After her final flight on Christmas Eve 1981, Delta-Golf was put into storage at Filton. With
the official end of the Concorde development programme, she was subsequently acquired
British Airways in 1984 to provide a much-needed source of spare parts for their fleet of
    seven aircraft.
To protect their investment and to keep her out of public view, British Airways constructed
a special hangar at Filton for Delta Golf in 1988. In 1995, Concorde G-BOAF's droop nose
was damaged in a ground handling accident at Heathrow and BA replaced it with the droop
nose from Delta-Golf. (The nose from Alpha-Foxtrot was later repaired at Brooklands
Museum and fitted to Delta-Golf in 2005.)
In 2002, long after Delta-Golf's flying days were over, the airframe was used to test fit and
certify new, strengthened cockpit doors required by the authorities after the September
11th atrocities in the United States.
In October 2003, British Airways offered Delta-Golf to Brooklands Museum for restoration
and public display. Dismantled by a specialist contractor, her major sections arrived here by
road in May and June 2004. Over an 18 month period contractors and a team of over one
hundred volunteers restored the aircraft to her former glory.

Just for anyone else the moment the audio cuts off they play "Don't stop me Now" by Queen, it is wonderful for that song and aircraft to link
