I got 10th gen ipad half a year ago and it’s great for me. I work with a 3000x3900 canvas that gives me 41 layers, but I use 18 at max. The screen is not laminated and it’s not noticeable at all but it gets really dirty from fingerprints and dust. I think every ipad that supports apple pencil is enough for art.
I had the iPad Pro 2018 11 inch for 6 years and found I never really take it anywhere. I got the 13 inch m4 and wow, it makes such a massive difference having,the,extra space. I can actually use stage manager and keep reference photos up without feeling it’s taking up valuable space. I don’t think I can ever go back to 11 inch. But keep in mind 13 inch really is big. It’s not quite as comfy to use it in bed.
I just found your channel and I love how informative your videos are on iPads from an artists perspective. There aren’t enough videos on iPads from that POV. It’s so rare to find. I have iPad 9th generation and I love it! I bought it one year ago and I enjoy using it for drawing. I mainly create game designs so I enjoy using apps like Procreate and Affinity Designer.

Hello, sorry to say this but your information is incorrect. With my 5th generation 12.9-inch iPad Pro, 16GB of RAM, for an A4 document at 300 DPI on Procreate, you get 210 layers.

I feel exactly the same! I have an xp-pen tablet but the cables are annoying and it's huge af... Now I'm just debating if I should get a samsung tablet or an ipad. I do think procreate is really cool so I'm leaning towards that 🤔
This is really very helpful. I own iPad 10th with 256gb storage. I'm a new learner, so I'll stay with this iPad for now. Once I become better I'll upgrade. I can take this position because I also have a Tab S9, if I didn't have the Galaxy I would automatic upgrade. Thank you for your great insight.
You can draw on any iPad with any Pencil but I recently switched to the iPad Pro m4 13inch with the new Pro Pencil and i would definitely recommend going for that option if you have the budget available and btw nice Video 🫶🏻
Loved the insight! You're right, the Air is probably the best choice, my only desire was to have that 13" screen, so i just went for the bigger Air. I am so glad we got the bigger screens on cheaper iPads

I do take it with me to other places and it does feel harder to carry, so if that's something you plan to do, the smaller sizes are a lot more appealing. But that's a sacrifice i'm willing to make (it's also heavier)

Thank you for this thorough breakdown. I have the IPad Pro first generation, which is 12.9inches and the price has doubled since then. I personally like to work big and I’ve never had an issue with travelling with the bigger screen. In fact I originally upgraded from an 11”iPad air to the pro because the size didn’t suit the way I draw. Based on that and really both 13” iPads are more powerful than the original pro I don’t think I can lose out.

I'm planning on sticking with the new ipad air '24 11th inch model with the new Apple pencil pro (purple edition) for my art and hobby lines like using it for drawing and photography and i saved up for both so I'm hoping to get it soon probably I'm thinking about getting it in September soon
The problem with the new iPad Air 6 is that only works with the new Apple Pencil Pro, so if you already have an Apple Pencil, it won’t work, and you will need to pay 150€.
glad i found this video, i almost made a mistake with the pencils. i think iam gonna grab a pro, even if i will just draw / read manga on it its gonna be worth it. i will grab a used one tho, because this is not something i do for money i think ill fine value in refurbished.
@@Anastasiaberry thks i did, my mistake was the sensitivity, i though the cheap gen2 was pressure sensitive. you saved me on this one. the compare tab is kinda hidden and only feature the pro and the cheap gen 2, this is bad actually, when you shop, since apple sells 4 pencils you should be able to compare all 4 T_T
My iPad 9th is 2.5 years old now. I’ve been using it without protectors. The screen got severely scratched. A lot of time the Apple Pencil can’t complete a stroke. It gets broken in between. So it’s frustrating. And sometimes the application just couldn’t take any more because of only 3 gigs of ram specially after the updates. I’ll get the m4 13 inches. I play competitive shooter games as well. But the iPad 9th started lagging on them as well. It sucks now. Time for an upgrade. The m4 is going to be my first iPad Pro.

I think the 11inch air is the best price to performance/gain ratio. out of all of them. For non artists/video-editors etc. etc. The standard iPad is also very nice.

It might sound crazy but Ipad Pros actually have one important thing for Art, and that is 120Hz screens. I have an old Ipad Pro, from 2017, and I try to upgrade to a newer Air model, but I just cant go back to 60Hz

i think it’s important to know that ipad pro is the only one with 120hz. the animation is smoother. ipad air has 60hz, it’s slower, the feeling of drawing is less organic, because the lines appear with delay. unfortunately ipad pro is always a better option for drawing. i wish i knew it sooner myself😅

@ I have 256GB. My canvas sizes are not usually big, I typically just choose screen size which gives 180 layers. The 4K canvas lets me have 120.

Wouldn't the amount of layers increase with doubling of RAM for the iPad Pros? And if so, how would that affect the cost-benefit distribution between Air - Pro, and then within the Pro versions?

Im notice that in m4 13 inch when using procreate ipad is hot on center after 5-10 min idk maybe it because it new chip and it still not much optimized for new chip?
