    For me, the most interesting ones are those that, after being removed, are repurposed somewhere else on the model.

    If I recall correctly, the Pirates of Barracuda Bay also uses a temporary brick-built support under the rudder to help stabilize building of the stern hull section. This support is removed in step 524 before putting the hull in island mode. That was my first experience with temporary bricks. We haven’t reconfigured the wreck into a functioning ship yet - we also have the smaller Pirate Ship set which we use for getting around.

  • @icedo1013

    The guitar set actually has some real life correlations too! When you open a pack of strings they've got different colored ends that end up getting hidden away or cut off that help you differentiate the strings there too.

  • @Hugo-ju7nm
    @Hugo-ju7nm 2 ปีที่แล้ว +179

    Similar to the Ferrari build, the colored studs for the Fender guitar represent the colored Ball-Ends that sit on the end of each guitar string. When installing new strings you sometimes have to cut them off just like you do in the build.

    • @TehBIGrat
      @TehBIGrat 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Yes was going to say that. Most if not all guitar strings are color-coded.

    • @dinoschachten
      @dinoschachten 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      It does seem like a reference to that - nice nod (though usually the ball-ends are at the bottom). Curiously, colour-coding is far less common on strings for acoustic guitars, perhaps because depending on the guitar built the ball-ends are visible, or perhaps because acoustic strings are less flimsy and thus easier to distinguish... so historically colour-coding strings may only have become a thing with electric guitars and their typically thinner strings.

    Come to think of it I still need to track down that creator expert Ford Mustang set but i don't think it's retiring for now so I still have time to get it. It looks Great on display and makes for one solid car build the engine detail for starters is sick and the overall shaping of the car is spot on. I didn't know so many sets had these steps in builds and it's cool when a set has you build something for stability and then that gets removed and turned into something else it's clever and adds to the build experience giving you some new building techniques/ways of using pieces.

    I remember that the 2014 heavy load crane had you build a small rig out of lift arms for the steering. The steering was assembled with the gears not engaged to the racks because 4 of the 5 axle steered, and that rig is used to align the racks to then slide the gears over to engage. The lift arms are used in the cab afterwards i believe.
    There were also a few technic set that did this to accommodate the PF addon set. The Volvo EW160E get the chassis cleared out for the battery, the parts of which get used to secure the battery, you'll also have to disconnect the supply tube from the hand pump, and stick that onto the rotor pump operated by the motor.
    I modified that though to add a T joint so i can use hand pump and motor at the same time, also put in that switch so i can have the lights and not annoy anyone with the motor.

    Can we just appreciate that in the case of the supports on the emerald night they could have placed the 1x4s in the other orientation, but decided on the way they did because the other one would have been stupidly hard to take back apart?

    the new delorean has a similar techinque, you place a orange 2x2 brick to stop the "lever" that later turns the car into flying mode

    Actual guitars also use little differently coloured dots at the ends of strings, but rather than being for avoiding tangling the wires it is for knowing which string is which in EBGDAE

    Set 8421 also has a part where you remove studs or parts.
    of which 1 support is to keep the wheels straight, due the gears used. to combine the wheel hubs

    The 4x4 offroader also makes use of this. It's a cotraption that stabilizes the axles

    The lego technic 10×10 crane set has you construct this bar to hold the steering in place while you put the giant ass steering axle in

    It would be awesome if those Fender Stud pieces were the Guiter Hero note colors

    The Lego 42009 mobile kraan MK II set has quite a lot of bricks you have to take Apart, and i believe it even happens multiple times

    "Lego uses vibrant studs to make sure the builder does not get the strings tangled or out of order"
    Actually, Fender uses those ball colours on it's strings in the real world, it's not a random decision for colours :D

    I have a lego halo elephant. That one came with a bunch of red 2x4 bricks to put at the bottom that were later removed and used for nothing.
