    3:33 considering Tiago Catarino's explanation of why some technics are illegal, I actually doubt this is considered illegal, because it isn't really stressing the pieces

    • @Nio744
      @Nio744 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Those pieces were not made for a pole connection. They stress them.

    • @horadetodososlegos
      @horadetodososlegos 2 ปีที่แล้ว +37

      @@Nio744 if I'm not mistaken, in the past they weren't, but now they have those holes intended to make in fact a pole connection

    • @kailahmann1823
      @kailahmann1823 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      very early versions of that "boat stud" had in fact slightly smaller holes, but still big enough for a pole. This is different from for example very early inverted slopes, where the holes where in fact way to small.

    • @ENCHANTMEN_
      @ENCHANTMEN_ ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Even if the hole isn't the right size, you could put four 1x1 circle plates with holes on each to get something similar

  • @zed2653
    @zed2653 2 ปีที่แล้ว +32

    just cause its not an "official" technique that lego hasnt used doesnt mean its illegal as long as the pieces arent stressed or put through more pressure than usual

    What I constitute as illegal is how much stress is being put on the peices and how likely will something break

    • @krzysiekchinbeard4442
      @krzysiekchinbeard4442 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      This is also how Lego defines what is and isn't legal

    • @ENCHANTMEN_
      @ENCHANTMEN_ ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@krzysiekchinbeard4442 There are certain techniques which don't apply stress to parts, but still wouldn't be allowed in an official set due to either being too loose or just not being a very good connection.
      There's also the various techniques using minifigure arm, leg, and hand pieces which have been separated from their original parts. Those don't apply stress in and of themselves, but removing them requires a bit more force than is normally acceptable.

    the one you say is illegal at 3:30 is surely not illegal; open studs are designed to hold bars, and no pieces are being stressed. What am I missing here?

    • @sbsbsbdhsbs2293
      @sbsbsbdhsbs2293 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I don't know this for a fact, just something I've noticed but older versions of this piece have thicker plastic around the open studs and it takes quite a bit more force to fit a bar in them so it might have been illegal at one point.

    - Robotic muscle fibers
    This build would make any build a more ‘organic’ appearance.
