Brilliant video and really the best judge if it’s a smart purchase or not is if it gets you the result you want, not the costs of the materials or anything like that which we may be tempted to evaluate the value-for-money on. A tiny extra bit of productivity will more than make up for the cost. Thanks for sharing!
Yesss. Love this video Fanch! Great energy, shots, animated graphics, and you know I love the Analog. Love the fact that you covered what you don't like as well so it's not just a commercial lol.
I can't justify the price of the ugmonk analog for me. So I ended up finding a pen holder with a smartphone stand attached to it. It can hold to atleast 3 inches in width and it's made out of acrylic. The Analog is such a stupidly simple but highly efficient system.
Sorry for the delay. Sure, I've added it to my gear page on my website. It's the "18 Hour Template". I load the cards in my printer (which supports printing on thicker paper) kelifancher.com/gear/.
i liked the idea but found the product very, almost offensively, overpriced. here's what I did in case anyone else is thinking about trying this: I went to the dollar store and bought a pack of 200 ruled index cards, a dry erase board, rubber bands, and binder clips for a total of $4. I hung the dry erase board next to my desk and wrote my "Next" and "Someday" tasks there, then I collected 30 index cards per month, hold them together with a binder clip, and use one per day for my daily tasks. when a month is done, i plan to bind that month with a rubber band, store it away, and move onto my next 30 cards. been working great for 3 weeks now.
@@KeliFancher thanks, it's been a couple months now, and it's been working well. i actually love Ugmonk for giving me the idea because the system is truly good. i recommend anyone who's skeptical to really do what i did just to give it a shot, and then if you really wanna spoil yourself with a luxury item, go for Analogue. personally, I've gotten fond of my index cards + binder clip and think it looks nice on my desk (in a utilitarian kinda way).
It took me less than an hour to draw the cards on Onenote and use them as needed with either a keyboard or a pen ! Bonus, the "Notes" on the back are next to the "Todo", thus I can relate directly to them. I link my daily card to a monthly calendar, and voilà, done deal, for free !
@@KeliFancher Well it is actually working like a charm. I still can write directly on my screen and with OCR it searches anything I may ask it. So no need for a 100 $ overpriced pile of cardboards in a leftover piece of wood. :)
Great review. Got yourself a sub. I've been using Analog for a few months and really enjoy it. Looking for inspiration on how others implement it and your timeblocking sparked some ideas. I never knew what I could use the back for and I've left them blank so far. And nice to know I wasn't the only one let down by the feathering. Love my fountain pens and it pains be to grab a ballpoint or fineliner. But a small inconvenience for a visually great product.
🎉 Thanks for the sub Kunle! Unfortunately Nock Co (maker of my favorite index cards) shut down, so I'm not even going to be able to use plain index cards in it (unless I find a different source). But like you said, it's just a small inconvenience. My rollerball is also a joy to use.
Thanks for watching Rahul! Right now my template is pretty bare-boned, I want to make it nicer looking. But for now I just created a chart in Apple Pages and printed it on my laser printer which has a card feed slot.
I forgot I use fountain pens so paper quality is a must...y did mention it too...sadly analog is not friendly towards ink pens...maybe they can check that out I hope...
It says that Analog is a “physical companion for your digital tools”. I will not be using any digital tools. I will not use websites or online resources. I will not use any electronics or apps to assist me writing down my daily task on the cards. I want to keep everything strictly offline and ONLY use the cards to help me with my daily task. Only the cards and nothing else at all. Does analog work this way? Will it still be beneficial for me to use like this? I will not use analog as a physical companion for digital tools because I will not be using any digital tools.
It absolutely could be, but it depends on how you're keeping track of projects. Do you have any ongoing projects or tasks that you need to keep track of? I keep all long term planning digital and then move over my daily tasks to the Analog. I see no real reason why you couldn't keep those long term plans in a notebook instead. If you want to give it a shot though, just go buy a pack of cheap index cards and write out a list of 5-10 tasks for that day. Only consider upgrading to Analog if you like that system and want something a bit more premium.
Err excuse me! EXCUSE ME! Unbelievable Keli! Who the hell enjoys an analogue system and picks up a damn Sharpie to write with! What are you thinking! 🤷🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️ Get a fountain pen and enjoy writing 😂 Enjoyed the video. I love the ‘Analog’ system and really want it. Am in UK though so it’s a big import cost so I’m procrastinating right now about it……..
Haha! Well, if you haven't yet be sure to check out some of my pen videos (one on a Spoke Axle and another on a Sailor). I love fountain pens and use them 95% of the time - but the Analog paper really doesn't work well with them. I only went with the sharpie vs. a nicer ballpoint though b/c it makes clear strokes which are visible on the video.
:-) Yep, that‘s exactly what I did for a long while to see if I liked that approach. Once it stuck, I decided to treat myself to the nice card holder. To each their own. Thanks for watching.

100% true. Thanks for watching and the constant support!

Haha, yeah, I feel ya. I love talking about products I love, so it's hard not to switch into commercial mode.
One of my favorite videos of yours. The graphic titles per section, the graphic effects at the end, more broll. 😎 very in your element
Wahoo! That's great to hear - I love the encouragement!

Very good, yeah the Analog is ridiculously expensive. You can duplicate all the functionality at a fraction of the cost.
@@KeliFancher yea I just built one, and grabbed some index cards from the dollar store. Got colored ones and white ones, no specific purpose.
Thanks for the honest review! Glad you dig it 😊
Absolutely! It's a terrific product!
Love this video Keli!
Thanks!
Cool channel, I have the Ugmonk Analog on order. Should be getting in a couple days. It is pricy but the simplicity of it is perfect.
Wonderful! Thanks for watching! After you get a chance to use it for a couple of days I'd love to hear your thoughts.
Thanks! Hope you enjoy it when it arrives. I'm always open to feedback :)
The timeblocking on the back was 🔥
Could you share the template? Or how you did it?
Thanks!

I'm glad you found a solution which works for you and doesn't cost a ridiculous amount of money for such a simple solution.

@@kebbotnet4170 I started off similar and then decided I liked the wooden holder enough to spoil myself :-).

I think it would be nice if the papers are the same as rocketbook's where you can just erase and use it again

i have this one and asked a carpenter to customize me one cause it is not available in my country
That’s a great idea, it is a pretty simple concept and way to roll your own.
Nice video. question - how did you print the time calendar in the today cards?

Yeah, it's the paper that kills it. But I'm happy for just the dock - it can hold my nice cards just as easily :-)
Well... what's the verdict? Smart purchase or... not?
It's personal right? Only you can be the judge for you.
I'm going to try a prototype with sticky notes myself first. :)

Ok write ure task on a 3x5 card just like they did 100 years ago, why cause it works.only now it comes with a box. Oh 3x5's are about 1$ a pack.
