I wanted one , but thought that I have so many parts cars with bose speakers, and amps, so I should just build my own with more watts and on the super cheap. Your video opened my eyes to using the switch panel and amp with built in Bluetooth. Looking forward to this. I'll probably use the oem amp that I have, then find a Bluetooth solution

I just built one with a 4" driver and passive radiator directly from scratch uploaded it to my channel, Turned out pretty well. It's interesting to see other people's go at it as seems popular to build Bluetooth speakers out of ammo cans lol.

Great video! I use this to complete all of my wiring for one I just built. I built mine out of MDF, used an old Alpine radio, two 5 1/4 inch coaxial speakers, and an 8 inch woofer. Have you ever built any of these units using a subwoofer?

What size ammo box would be good if I wanted to use 5 1/4 or 6.5" speakers? Also, would I need a stronger amp (which one)? Is there a simple charging board which would regulate charging and allow only connecting the cable to the box, rather than needing the external charger?

Do you have a video of installing the amp with the control knobs sticking out between the speakers. Also do you use screws with nuts to hold the speakers and controls the the can?
For the amp mount: drill 3 holes, take careful measurements to get the locations right. use cardboard to make a template if you have to. The amp comes with three nuts threaded down on the three knobs, remove the nuts, stick knobs thru holes, then twist down nuts, it will be secure...yes I use 6-32 1" machine screws with nuts for holding everything to can
I’m planning on using a pelican case soon, they appear to be perfectly sized for something like this.. the speakers shown in the video (4”) should fit , and I will look to go even larger with a slightly larger pelican-like case I have
@@TheCounselingGamer I use the speaker grills and eyeball them to center it as much as possible, using a pencil to mark the holes.. then I use a tape measure and measure the hole location marks and make slight adjustments to get them perfectly centered then remark holes
What demerl tool would be good for early beginer to cut hole on plastic ammo box of fishing box for either 6.5 speaker or 4 in marine speaker to fit side by side on front ?
@@KyleWilliams-x8u I used rotozip and recommend it for beginners.. I like the sound deadening material.. takentcell battery comes with the charging cord and charger, it uses the dc5521 connector (aka 5.5mm x 2.1mm connector)
I'm a beginner and am planning on making a Bluetooth speaker. I've been watching a lot of videos on how to make a Bluetooth speaker but none of them have step by step instructions. I've seen many videos that say you need a BMS (battery management system) board which will protect the battery from overcharging and discharging. Also, you didn't have an LED for battery charging and complete indicator. Does the switch panel that you've installed have those built-in? If you can make another video showing on how to connect those items I mentioned or just reply to my comment, that would be great. Thanks.
@@BobbyTube808 the battery I linked has a BMS integrated into it, so you don’t have to worry about that.. as for battery charging indicator, the charger I linked has LEDs which light up red or green to tell you when it is charging and full .. you can check the description of this video for those links.. let me know if you have any other questions
These batteries are probably oversized for this application because I never really have to charge them, I do so every couple weeks just to keep them in good shape
yes, that is correct.. you can see this at 9:35 in the video. It is displaying 13.2v which pretty much means full. around 11.5v or so it is basically dead
Slightly different amp, for the Skar sub I used an amplifier with this description: (Nobsound NS-15G Mini Bluetooth 5.0 Digital Amplifier HiFi Stereo Audio Class D Power Amp 100W x 2 Treble Bass Control) ..... I used a 5.75" hole saw attached to drill to cut the hole for the 6.5 inch Skar sub... I also put a voltage booster between the 12v battery and amp to get more power out of the amp

This 50 cal ammo can is fitting 4” speakers.. 6” speakers would be too big. I’d say like 8 hours

@@caseymoto built one with the 6.5” speakers I have from the utility ammo can from harbor freight they fit kinda perfectly but i have two more questions if you don’t mind what did you use to install the 12v plug effectively I used a drill bit then kinda ran it in a circle till it cut out the hole big enough then slid all 4 of the into it to get them to fit there’s gotta be a better way do u use like a 1” hole saw or something and also what was the way u got the amp to fit securely bc I made it fit kinda like u did by drilling 3 holes then pushing the amp through and sliding the caps on but it doesn’t seem that secure on there
@@TheOGNuke1 I only use hole saw for speaker holes , all the other small components I use “stepper bit” because it has several hole sizes which get progressively larger, so you stop and check as the hole gets slightly larger until the component fits perfectly… for the amp mounting , there are three small nuts tightened all the way down on those three knobs, you wanna remove those nuts and thread them back onto the knobs after you stick them thru the three holes, it will tighten up nice and secure , then stick the plastic knobs on
Could I use a dewalt 20v battery being that the Bluetooth mother board is rated between 12volts to 24volts? Just curious before I connect it together haha
@@nitorena7042 usually I increase the voltage to 20-21v (using a voltage booster) when using 6.5” speakers.. for the 4” speakers I like the power output with 12v thru this amp so I’ve never tried higher voltage on these speakers.. but it should work and I’ve been wanting to try dewalt 20v instead of boosting a 12v
I wanted to know if 14” 1409 dry marine box would fit PLMR60W speaker fit side be side on the length side of Box or should I go with a plastic ammo box that length is 17”Lx10.13”Wx13”?
I don’t have a solid number because it depends on volume level, but it’s a 10 amp hour battery and it lasts a really long time for me, so I might say 10 hours rough estimate
I built it using the same parts exactly like you did. Every time I connect the battery the cable connection to the battery sparks and I get no power to the switch.
You may have a problem with your switch wiring. Are you able to hook your amp up directly to the battery, like I did at 6:00 in the video? If that is working it would tell you the problem lies in the switch. You may have damaged that component if hooked up wrong to the battery.
@@alrightry7129 I would make sure all your connections are tightly secured.. you don’t want any of those wires loosely attached, which could create static

@@beastmode2990 I think you will be fine with the 2 12v 12ah batteries, I usually just use 1 battery 10 or 12ah , sometimes I boost it to 20v.. last time I boosted I used a 20ah , always lifepo4 too.. they all have great battery life
@@caseymoto update if you want to know 2 speakers 40w RMS 160 peak with a car audio and one battery 12v12ah lasted 4 hours and it wasn't full empty i wanted to add 2 more speakers but its over kill honestly
@@caseymoto ye sounds better i got 2 hertz x130 speakers and with the car audio they sound fantastic even at max volume tomorrow ill get some mdf 60x40 and some 40x40 panels and i will make a box cause the 12ah battery is bigger than the 7 or 9ah but i am impressed with the time it held i thing 2 smaller speakers at 25w would work really nice but for now ill stay with those 2 ill keep you updated if you want on how it will work out with the box

The voltmeter should not stay on when turning off the switch. It should be connected to the same power line as the USB charger, 12v socket, and amplifier - which all go off with the switch.. maybe you have it connected directly to the battery, which is on the same line as the charger and having constant power.. let me know if I can help
at 1:01 in this video, you can see one of these has a subwoofer.. the subwoofer has two sets of terminals (+ and - wires), you can wire one set to the left channel and one set to the right channel.. you can then wire in a tweeter on each of those channels... @@kylewilliams3306 I would go with the larger box that you listed.. the smaller box is going to be very close and is better suited for smaller speakers like 4".. I've been on amazon trying to find the hardware put I don't know the correct names of any of it. What are the multi connectors that's hook to the battery? Charger port? Everything used to chage the battery, how can I find that? Only thing I've found is the amp, battery and the on andoff switch. Please help me with the rest.
Some of the links comes up as "sorry, page not available". But really the only thing I'm having trouble finding are the positive and negative words you have hooked to the battery that allows you to connect multi things click on them and it might do the same to you. And I wanna build a box that holds 4-6x9s. Will that amp be enough or should I get the 200 watt?

Do you know of a way to put a shelf or something inside the can for your phone to sit inside? Like to cover the inside. Ive seen some like that and was wandering if you knew of a way.
I use velcro to secure components inside the box (like battery and various electronics), so you could adhere a piece of velcro to the inner-wall, and use another double-sided velcro piece to stick to that and act as a strap for phone... I have secured a charger inside the box using that method.. not really a shelf, but you could get more fancy with thin wood to create a storage zone... you would want the phone secured and unable to rattle or move with music bumping

Thanks man.. yes, you can have it on while charging with no problems, you can use any of the components while plugged into the wall.. you don’t need a step down, the usb charger and other components work off 12v, just like the amp
You can wire one tweeter to the left channel, and another to the right channel of the amp.. even though the other speakers are already occupying these left and right channels, tweeters can be shared on the same postive and negative wires.. when I did this I included 33 ohm resistors on the positive wire to the tweeters, as I read these tone down the tweeters so they don't get too loud, here is the link to that, it worked well for me : www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0B7MRL5S5/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1
I’m looking to build one for myself, and if it works out…maybe sell a few. How much did it cost you overall, and about how many hours? I just got the idea after an ad popped up in my news feed. It looked cool, then I just about 💩 when I saw their blowout price of $1,000🇨🇦. Surely I could do one justice for $3-400 or so.
It’s going to cost you about $225 in parts.. the first one you make will take most of the day, but you can make a template on cardboard for the hole drilling positions and make the future boomboxes in less time.. If you paint it, it doesn’t add much cost but does add more time and looks awesome.. I only sell them to friends and family because I don’t have enough time
Your video is great and easy to follow. I plan on building one soon with 2 5.25's and an 8" Skar sub. I was thinking about using the TDA7498E amp. Do you think amp will be good enough for build? And also do you think k I will need a voltage booster? And how is it wired in.
That sounds really cool.. it looks like that amp should work.. Have you done a plastic ammo can build wild 6.5 1/2 marine speaker I wanted to know what plastic ammo can to get that fit those speakers on the front 40mm & 50mm box ?
I’ve never done plastic, there’s lots of hardware mounting components to the boombox and I wouldn’t wanna break the plastic walls, plus it vibrates a lot when playing music.. I did two 6.5” speakers on a 40mm metal ammo can and it fit great, check my latest shorts video
I do wrap the battery, but not completely. The bottom and back are touching walls so are not necessary.. I have never had a problem with heat, but I also don't think you will notice a difference in sound quality with or without wrapping battery.. I have seen the mat used in minimal coverage on some applications and still works, and I am more concerned with covering the metal on the box

Oh yea way louder and better sound quality, plus the battery is a lot larger. I really like the three knobs on the amplifier allowing you to fine tune bass, treble, and volume.. it sounds so good in person
I’d use a 40mm metal can and remove the cross braces.. you can also fit those on a metal 20L gas can.. I wouldn’t recommend plastic , but if you really want plastic it should be about 17” (length of 40mm metal)

I would say the dual 6x9 build sounds better, it has more volume of speakers also requiring more space to mount them.. my Jerry Can boombox has dual 6.5" Rockville Speakers, which come pre-wired with LED lights that flash to the beat, and it sounds really good too, similar to the 6x9s... both have more power than you would ever use.. those were all sealed enclosures
@@pyromonkee2510there are a few companies selling this same amp online under various names that I have purchased , some come with the cord and some do not, I believe the one I linked does not.. but it is a standard cord that I bought for cheap in bulk so I had them on hand

Similar to the general plan outlined in this video.. the talentcell battery should be hooked up to positive and negative electrical connectors so you can hook up other things to battery.. from those connectors you hook up push button switch and charge port, as these two components attach to battery. the push button switch would also be connected to the plye 4ch amp because the switch can control when the amp turns on and off.. then the speakers attach to amp

@@kylewilliams3306 the Apiele latching switch can be confusing to wire, because there are multiple ways to wire it which do different things with the LED light .. I like the option where the LED light is only on when the switch is on.. they use different color wires so it’s tough to answer that.. I would recommend studying the diagram that comes with the switch - and testing it on a simple setup using only the battery and a small light or something.. then once you get it working properly you can wire in the other stuff.. I believe for that option there are two wires connected to each other going to the positive side of the device getting switched on, one wire is unused, one wire goes to positive of battery and one wire goes to negative of battery.. if you can’t get it, you can buy a more simple switch with only three wires without all the options with LED on the switch

For the amp mount: drill 3 holes, take careful measurements to get the locations right. use cardboard to make a template if you have to. The amp comes with three nuts threaded down on the three knobs, remove the nuts, stick knobs thru holes, then twist down nuts, it will be secure...yes I use 6-32 1" machine screws with nuts for holding everything to can

@@TheCounselingGamer I use the speaker grills and eyeball them to center it as much as possible, using a pencil to mark the holes.. then I use a tape measure and measure the hole location marks and make slight adjustments to get them perfectly centered then remark holes

I'm a beginner and am planning on making a Bluetooth speaker. I've been watching a lot of videos on how to make a Bluetooth speaker but none of them have step by step instructions. I've seen many videos that say you need a BMS (battery management system) board which will protect the battery from overcharging and discharging. Also, you didn't have an LED for battery charging and complete indicator. Does the switch panel that you've installed have those built-in? If you can make another video showing on how to connect those items I mentioned or just reply to my comment, that would be great. Thanks.
@@BobbyTube808 the battery I linked has a BMS integrated into it, so you don’t have to worry about that.. as for battery charging indicator, the charger I linked has LEDs which light up red or green to tell you when it is charging and full .. you can check the description of this video for those links.. let me know if you have any other questions

Yes, I usually put it (a 30a fuse) between the battery and main connector box, you can see this at 11:15 in the visual on this video

What’s the battery life on that setup
These batteries are probably oversized for this application because I never really have to charge them, I do so every couple weeks just to keep them in good shape

yes, that is correct.. you can see this at 9:35 in the video. It is displaying 13.2v which pretty much means full. around 11.5v or so it is basically dead

Slightly different amp, for the Skar sub I used an amplifier with this description: (Nobsound NS-15G Mini Bluetooth 5.0 Digital Amplifier HiFi Stereo Audio Class D Power Amp 100W x 2 Treble Bass Control) ..... I used a 5.75" hole saw attached to drill to cut the hole for the 6.5 inch Skar sub... I also put a voltage booster between the 12v battery and amp to get more power out of the amp

It depends what volume you play for how long it stays charged, but it lasts a really long time.. I’d say like 8 hours

@@caseymoto built one with the 6.5” speakers I have from the utility ammo can from harbor freight they fit kinda perfectly but i have two more questions if you don’t mind what did you use to install the 12v plug effectively I used a drill bit then kinda ran it in a circle till it cut out the hole big enough then slid all 4 of the into it to get them to fit there’s gotta be a better way do u use like a 1” hole saw or something and also what was the way u got the amp to fit securely bc I made it fit kinda like u did by drilling 3 holes then pushing the amp through and sliding the caps on but it doesn’t seem that secure on there
@@TheOGNuke1 I only use hole saw for speaker holes , all the other small components I use “stepper bit” because it has several hole sizes which get progressively larger, so you stop and check as the hole gets slightly larger until the component fits perfectly… for the amp mounting , there are three small nuts tightened all the way down on those three knobs, you wanna remove those nuts and thread them back onto the knobs after you stick them thru the three holes, it will tighten up nice and secure , then stick the plastic knobs on
Could I use a dewalt 20v battery being that the Bluetooth mother board is rated between 12volts to 24volts? Just curious before I connect it together haha
@@nitorena7042 usually I increase the voltage to 20-21v (using a voltage booster) when using 6.5” speakers.. for the 4” speakers I like the power output with 12v thru this amp so I’ve never tried higher voltage on these speakers.. but it should work and I’ve been wanting to try dewalt 20v instead of boosting a 12v

I don’t have a solid number because it depends on volume level, but it’s a 10 amp hour battery and it lasts a really long time for me, so I might say 10 hours rough estimate

I built it using the same parts exactly like you did. Every time I connect the battery the cable connection to the battery sparks and I get no power to the switch.
You may have a problem with your switch wiring. Are you able to hook your amp up directly to the battery, like I did at 6:00 in the video? If that is working it would tell you the problem lies in the switch. You may have damaged that component if hooked up wrong to the battery.
My speakers a kind of static noise when the music is playing. Anything able to fix that?
@@alrightry7129 I would make sure all your connections are tightly secured.. you don’t want any of those wires loosely attached, which could create static

@@beastmode2990 I think you will be fine with the 2 12v 12ah batteries, I usually just use 1 battery 10 or 12ah , sometimes I boost it to 20v.. last time I boosted I used a 20ah , always lifepo4 too.. they all have great battery life
@@caseymoto update if you want to know 2 speakers 40w RMS 160 peak with a car audio and one battery 12v12ah lasted 4 hours and it wasn't full empty i wanted to add 2 more speakers but its over kill honestly

@@caseymoto ye sounds better i got 2 hertz x130 speakers and with the car audio they sound fantastic even at max volume tomorrow ill get some mdf 60x40 and some 40x40 panels and i will make a box cause the 12ah battery is bigger than the 7 or 9ah but i am impressed with the time it held i thing 2 smaller speakers at 25w would work really nice but for now ill stay with those 2 ill keep you updated if you want on how it will work out with the box

The voltmeter should not stay on when turning off the switch. It should be connected to the same power line as the USB charger, 12v socket, and amplifier - which all go off with the switch.. maybe you have it connected directly to the battery, which is on the same line as the charger and having constant power.. let me know if I can help
How could you add a small subwoofer to this?
at 1:01 in this video, you can see one of these has a subwoofer.. the subwoofer has two sets of terminals (+ and - wires), you can wire one set to the left channel and one set to the right channel.. you can then wire in a tweeter on each of those channels... I've been on amazon trying to find the hardware put I don't know the correct names of any of it. What are the multi connectors that's hook to the battery? Charger port? Everything used to chage the battery, how can I find that? Only thing I've found is the amp, battery and the on andoff switch. Please help me with the rest.

But really the only thing I'm having trouble finding are the positive and negative words you have hooked to the battery that allows you to connect multi things click on them and it might do the same to you. I have used this amp with two 6x9s and it worked well, four 6x9s might be pushing it, but I know of a similar cheap amp with a little more power which I sometimes use for big speakers, I’ve also used a voltage booster to increase the power going to it - let me know if you want links to those two parts

Do you know of a way to put a shelf or something inside the can for your phone to sit inside? Like to cover the inside. Ive seen some like that and was wandering if you knew of a way.
I use velcro to secure components inside the box (like battery and various electronics), so you could adhere a piece of velcro to the inner-wall, and use another double-sided velcro piece to stick to that and act as a strap for phone... I have secured a charger inside the box using that method.. not really a shelf, but you could get more fancy with thin wood to create a storage zone... you would want the phone secured and unable to rattle or move with music bumping

I just got the idea after an ad popped up in my news feed. It looked cool, then I just about 💩 when I saw their blowout price of $1,000🇨🇦. Surely I could do one justice for $3-400 or so.
It’s going to cost you about $225 in parts.. the first one you make will take most of the day, but you can make a template on cardboard for the hole drilling positions and make the future boomboxes in less time.. If you paint it, it doesn’t add much cost but does add more time and looks awesome.. I only sell them to friends and family because I don’t have enough time

It has red and black input wires which attach to the 12v battery and red and black output wires which attach to your amp, I do like 21v.. you can set it to what voltage you want to output

I’ve never done plastic, there’s lots of hardware mounting components to the boombox and I wouldn’t wanna break the plastic walls, plus it vibrates a lot when playing music.. I did two 6.5” speakers on a 40mm metal ammo can and it fit great, check my latest shorts video
What size whole saw used?
Do you wrap your battery with sound mat, will it make the battery get hot?
I do wrap the battery, but not completely. The bottom and back are touching walls so are not necessary.. I have never had a problem with heat, but I also don't think you will notice a difference in sound quality with or without wrapping battery.. I have seen the mat used in minimal coverage on some applications and still works, and I am more concerned with covering the metal on the box

The speakers should come with included wiring, which I always use because it has the attachments already… otherwise 12 to 16 should be fine

Oh yea way louder and better sound quality, plus the battery is a lot larger. I really like the three knobs on the amplifier allowing you to fine tune bass, treble, and volume.. it sounds so good in person

I’d use a 40mm metal can and remove the cross braces.. you can also fit those on a metal 20L gas can.. I wouldn’t recommend plastic , but if you really want plastic it should be about 17” (length of 40mm metal)

I would say the dual 6x9 build sounds better, it has more volume of speakers also requiring more space to mount them.. my Jerry Can boombox has dual 6.5" Rockville Speakers, which come pre-wired with LED lights that flash to the beat, and it sounds really good too, similar to the 6x9s... both have more power than you would ever use.. those were all sealed enclosures

@@pyromonkee2510there are a few companies selling this same amp online under various names that I have purchased , some come with the cord and some do not, I believe the one I linked does not.. but it is a standard cord that I bought for cheap in bulk so I had them on hand

@@pyromonkee2510 just one battery is used in each of these boomboxes to power everything (amp, side panel that has usb charge ports and 12v socket, and lights on the ones that have that) … I put the link to the battery in the description

Similar to the general plan outlined in this video.. the talentcell battery should be hooked up to positive and negative electrical connectors so you can hook up other things to battery.. from those connectors you hook up push button switch and charge port, as these two components attach to battery. the push button switch would also be connected to the plye 4ch amp because the switch can control when the amp turns on and off.. then the speakers attach to amp

@@kylewilliams3306 the Apiele latching switch can be confusing to wire, because there are multiple ways to wire it which do different things with the LED light .. I like the option where the LED light is only on when the switch is on.. they use different color wires so it’s tough to answer that.. I would recommend studying the diagram that comes with the switch - and testing it on a simple setup using only the battery and a small light or something.. then once you get it working properly you can wire in the other stuff.. I believe for that option there are two wires connected to each other going to the positive side of the device getting switched on, one wire is unused, one wire goes to positive of battery and one wire goes to negative of battery.. if you can’t get it, you can buy a more simple switch with only three wires without all the options with LED on the switch
