@@JesusSaves86AB i was thinking about that too! I got a 10w3v3 with the grill, that i would love to use in a set up like this. i would just need a good amp. A 3 channel amp would be great! 👌

That system looks awesome I'm very impressed and what an awesome job you did, you should make some speaker boxes like that to sell to people who are willing to buy them from you anyways thank you for that tutorial breakdown that you did on how to set it up! You gave me some good ideas!!
I love looking over your builds. Everything is just so clean and insanely professional!! I wish my Dad who does carpentry as a hobby was this clean about his own projects. We call him the King of 80%
You're a beast bro. I can tell you've built alot of stereo equipment in the past. As an electrician I take pride in keeping my wiring neat and clean, so I really like how you take pride in your craft. Looks damn good.

Some handy guys have taken old vintage boomboxes with shortwave radio on them and modified them adding screens to them and turned them into narrow bandwidth television receivers and even play back narrow bandwidth video recordings on an audio cassette.

I built a boombox about 6 years ago . Using a pioneer double din head unit ,400 w r m s amp ( CT Sounds , kicker 400w r m s 12 " sub , running off a 1200w ( 100a ) 12dc power supply( HP) . Clean ,clear sound even at full volume
I happen to have a set of focal polyglass components going to waste. I thought about doing this years ago and even contacted focal to get their enclosure size recommendation. I think it's time to revisit this project. Nice work!
In the time you designed this and finished your front panel I threw a cpu power supply and HU with speakers in a 5gal pail. This looks awesome, the amount of effort shows.
It sounds much better than most of those homebrew boombox videos I've seen where the sound is often very boxy and bass sounding very poor to zero. People seem to think that you can put any speaker driver into any sized box and it will be booming. Your video is the best example of a boom box I've seen so far.

Nice build. You can also use a psu from a pc. The advantage is you get multiple additional voltages and also make terminals for it to test things. This is what I have done. Works perfectly.
Great video but just a quick suggestion for the power, I would use a PC power supply. You can buy 800-1500 watt units for a reasonable price and that would be rms power not max. For years I had 2 kicker 12" subs running off a 650 watt antec power supply and I never got any clipping on the amp. A quality 850 watt PSU would give you around 70 amps on the 12 volt rail, with a 1300 watt psu you could push over a 100 amps all day long.
I did something like this 3 years ago. Was needing something to play music at a good volume for extended time while camping with my buddies. Yours looks way nicer than mine, I also have 3 chambers but my center chamber is a 10” JL subwoofer.
Yes a sub is a must. On a side note.. your old speakers are my daily speakers in my 01 GMC.. and ofcourse tweets are clothed and in the pillars not the doors.. great speaker.. thanks man.. been a long time since I have seen the chrome on the back side. .
In my workshop I have been using an old System for 10 years. A Sony AM/FM CD player to an old Rockford Fosgate 2 channel ,run to an MB Quarts 6.5 mid.1 inch tweeter. Then the same amp bridged running 12 in Kicker. I use a little motorcycle battery hooked up to a Battery Tender to run the system. yours looks better....but mine is fine!
I've been watching more of your videos recently, and I have to say man your attention to detail and ability to break down and clearly communicate your thoughts is very satisfying. This project ended up looking amazing and sounded loud but crystal clear. Awesome stuff!
Hey Mark if you have more "old sets of speakers" like those send some my way lol I didn't notice anyone in the comments or you give any mention to that set. Those are the Orginal focal polyglass components! I to have a set of them sitting on a shelf. Pretty close to the same but mine are the 3 ways with the 3" also. They were my first set of high-end components that I bought years ago. I ended up putting them in for only about a week and putting my RF T165s set back in. I liked them better. Was actually disappointed in the focal set after the cost of them and all the hype. Now they just sit in the Box I put them online for sale for a little bit for like 400 and they wouldn't even sell LOL so now I just keep him because they're cool so you have a set. Since then I've boughten a bunch of different sets of high-end and my favorite to this day still is the Rockford Fosgate T Ford I never got the chance to get a set of the t5's although I did get my hands on two of the Crossovers but never used them and they got dropped in the box and all damaged. Well enough Babel from me, thank you for making these videos and showing us your craft you are one-of-a-kind!
This is the ultimate upgradable stereo system, period. Even the possibility of connecting to a subwoofer monoblock amp has been considered in the design. Would be great to have one for home use. I am sure the sound quality is better than most run-of-the-mill home stereos. Would love to see your matching sub box!
Only thing that’s missing is a heavy duty boombox handle on the top for moving it around. with rechargeable speakers coming in all shapes and sizes, I’m actually surprised that no one on eBay or Amazon has created a mass produced speaker box for (add your own) single or double-din 12V radios with a corded or rechargeable power source.
Just badass!!! I’m gonna do same thing with a old Unic amplifier 150w bridgable but instead of using car battery I’m gonna use 12v regulated power supply. Awesome job
Yes! I would love to see how you add a sub to this AC system, I've thought about doing this for years! I was going to use an old JL 10 and a Kenwood amp, but the DC power supply was hella expensive! Also thanks for the box design (EMF Banhammer 15), it's built (yay!) but I'm still working on the rest of the install (including my first basic custom center console)
I get the idea that your channel is going to make me want to spend money I don't have! Way back in '96 I had a blue Dodge 1500 with Shelby stripes. My local shop (Sound Obsessions) ordered 10 JL Audio 18W6 subs. They only ended up using 8 in their Blazer so they installed the remaining 2 in my regular cab 1500. I ended up losing my centre seat to a full time centre console to fit the box, but damn! So low! PPI monoblock amp. Anyways. After that trip down memory lane I've found your channel. We'll see where this goes! Love your videos!
Nice on the adapter plates for the speakers. That roll-on paint has a good texture. I like building custom guitar cabinets. Good video, nice to see creative people!
Made one of these years ago with 2 pc power sources and a 1000 watt amp with subwoofer connections on the side. Got a few party’s shutdown with that thing. Now I see everyone making them. Still haven’t seen anyone that matched the power mine put out
Ironically I been wanting to do this myself after seeing a bunch of homemade boomboxes on TH-cam. I'm just not good with all the small electronic pieces they used on other videos so it had me wanting to do one more like this.
That’s so badass. I don’t have any spare speakers or HUs, but you’ve inspired me to never throw throw any away. If I ever get some, I may have to give this a shot, even though it won’t be near as pretty as yours lol.
Nice! Now chuck some polyester fiberfill into those speaker enclosures - they should end up sounding even better. As for subwoofer, that big open space in the back of the build looks about the right size for a subwoofer based on one of those 6.5" Tang Band drivers....
I’d be interested in seeing the sub box build for it. I’ve been toying around with ideas like this for a while. I love the adaptability of yours for testing and the forethought you put into it
Dude that’s an awesome way to use some old equipment that’s just collecting dust. Definitely gonna keep this in the back of my plans for when I get my shop
I’ve been looking for this build video for a while, happy I finally found it! Do you think you could go into more detail with another video for how you attached all the speaker wires exactly for people like me who are newer to the car audio world to better understand how all the different wires on the back of the headunit connected properly? I’d love to see something like that!
I ended up doing this with an old car battery involved as I had some subs mids and tweeters. All old stuff but considering what i paid for roughly $200 total battery included with bluetooth i have no regrets
I definitely want to see a sub box added to this! I’d like to see if you can do the same idea with a DC adapter on an amplifier as well as the head unit
Eclipse by Fujitsu Ten Head Unit, currently sitting in storage. Never got installed sadly. And now that they are long gone the amazing security feature is too dangerous to use. But I could setup a backup battery for unplugging it. Also have a/d/s 325is full set. But I'm planning to use them in my next build when I'm able to do so. Unless I can come up with the money to buy a set of JL Audio C7s in which the a/d/s can go in the boom box!! LOL
such a fun and informative build Mark. I love it. so clean and fits the channel color scheme perfect. Keep up the great work man, Love when I see I new video in my sub feed
if you have extra regular clear acrylic/plexi around you can always spray paint back of it whatever color you want and will achieve same glossy look on the finished side
I Always like running head units on 15-16V for a little more power. all those TDA/PA/TA chip amps are rated for 18V but most head units can take 16V. all the logic is internally regulated anyway
I would love to see this with an onboard battery, or at least a battery on board to maintain low current draw for memory settings. I’d be doing similar to this with the addition of Lithium cells and an on board charger to maintain but I don’t know enough about those electrical systems to make purchases yet 😂
I did 2 of this already I have one inside my house all set up a 2 channel with a 12” sub and a 4 channel with a extra internal audio battery. My set up sounds a lot better than my car 😅 love to see you’re work I just wished I had you’re type of wood work skills.
Dude, I have equipment for a build just like this...sort of. Similar to an ice chest boom box. A sub built in would be cool too. Something portable to take to the beach that runs off a marine battery
Now if it only had an "onboard battery"!!!! It is an amazing build please don't take me wrong!! But the problem I have is what happens to your memory when the thing is unplugged from the wall?????? For my own PERSONAL USE, I would love to see this same set up BUT with a small 12 volt battery in it so you could add a working clock and have preset radio stations if needed!! Again in MY case there are only certain radio stations I like to listen to......so I would want to preset my stations and keep them programed into the head unit!!
This is fascinating, something I have wanted to do for quite a while.. you might have inspired me for a summer project. Have you any videos with setting up amps to a 240v ac socket? I have a lot to learn :) Great video, subscribed!!
I really enjoy your channel and appreciate all the videos I have watched and seen you have made. It makes me so happy that your abilities have helped further my education in the car audio world. I've always been a big fan of car audio and thanks to you I've been able to learn so much faster and thoroughly I'm a big DIY but do enjoy watching videos to learn. Thanks for doing what you do!
Very nice, i did almost the same, I have two 6x9 one on each side with a 10" sub in a seperate box and on the central part i have a single din radio and pc Power supply that i screw the board inside and i put the fan on the bottom to cool down the radio and Power supply. I have a 4 channel amp screw in the back (60wrms for each 6x9 and 180wrms for the sub) it's very loud, i have the first and second version on my channel, a video is comming to show this third version!
Meanwhile I'm rocking a DEH-P65-BT from 2007 still in my car with some kenwood and pioneer used 13cm speakers... and this guy has this equipment left over lol
Fuckin' finally someone builds a boombox and isolates the speakers with their own compartments from each other instead of letting them muddle each others' sound by sharing the same enclosure.
LOVE THIS! I have been working on my garage audio setup for a while, and am adding a dedicated sub with a plate amp. I'm using a Home Audio receiver I had laying around, not a car deck. But I also want to build a semi-portable setup to upgrade from my Klipsch KMC3 Bluetooth speaker. The Klipsch is great, but I want more, and it gets a lot of port noise at louder volumes.
What would you need if you want to add multiple stereos. what would you use in order to turn one stereo on and at the same time turns the others off. As if you were at a store testing/ listening to different units. what parts are needed to make this possible?
Its so funny because i literally have the exact same pair of Focal Polyglass 165 speakers in my garage collecting dust. Why? because my new vehicle takes 5x7 the focals did not fit and I was not getting rid of them.
Thanks for tuning in! If you are new here I have some other video projects related to this I think you might enjoy below, I would love to have you as a subscriber to help reach our channel goal of 1M!

I did 2 of this already I have one inside my house all set up a 2 channel with a 12” sub and a 4 channel with a extra internal audio battery. My set up sounds a lot better than my car 😅 love to see you’re work I just wished I had you’re type of wood work skills.
I have a set of those Polyglass Focals. I really was impressed with them.
Good eye!! Yeah they sound awesome, especially amplified.
So do I, and they are sitting on a shelf not being used.
I really like the way he explains like a teacher
Awesome build. After seeing this I will be building something similar. Thanks
I have some MB Quart component speakers and Phx Gold amp just laying around. I am going to try this.
This was fantastic. and you walked us through some very cool stuff. Wow. !!
Shop is really clean… too clean 🤔
Build is perfect amount of clean 👌🏼
Wicked
Very impressive finished product
If you use a lower powered sub, I believe that pioneer unit you can bridge the rear channels for 90 watts rms.
Dude, I have equipment for a build just like this...sort of. Similar to an ice chest boom box. A sub built in would be cool too. Something portable to take to the beach that runs off a marine battery
Oh my, it looks spectacular, and sound up to par! Brilliant!
I have a lot to learn :)
Great video, subscribed!!
Ah, I should have contained my excitement, I see the amp part now :)
Subwoofer box too please.. these videos are always entertaining
He already uploaded that video over a year ago
Very good idea, greetings from Indonesia
Ay good idea good job on the fab work 👌
Fuckin' finally someone builds a boombox and isolates the speakers with their own compartments from each other instead of letting them muddle each others' sound by sharing the same enclosure.
Dude where have you been & who you subbed to??? It's BEEN around since eversince🙄
I wish i just had some focal’s sitting around collecting dust :(
right? i wish some of THAT kind of stuff was my junk stuff, because what would my nice stuff be?
No kidding, the stuff I have laying around are all stock speakers or crap that came as a "bundle"
Its so funny because i literally have the exact same pair of Focal Polyglass 165 speakers in my garage collecting dust. Why? because my new vehicle takes 5x7 the focals did not fit and I was not getting rid of them.
Matthew Smith would you be willing to sell them ?
Sean Michael unfortunately I like them too much. They are sitting on the shelf in a cupboard waiting for a vehicle that they can fit in.
