  • learnlooklocate.com/key-to-yo... 🌸 Hannah Gilmore MD So I've spoken a lot about malignant breast disease, but there are a lot of benign breast diseases as well. The way we like to think about them are the breast diseases that don't have atypical cells and the breast diseases that do have atypical cells.
There are two types of atypical or what we call atypical hyperplasia in the breast. There's atypical ductal and there's a typical lobular hyperplasia of the breast. Usually a typical ductal hyperplasia is found, they're often associated with calcifications, but sometimes they're seen, sometimes they're part of a biopsy for something else as well.
And we'll see the radiologist target them on core needle biopsy. And those are important to recognize when you have a typical ductal hyperplasia, the standard of care would be to have that, if you find it on a core needle biopsy, to have it excised just to make sure that there isn't anything worse around there.
And hopefully there isn't anything else worse than the atypical hyperplasia around there, but it's important to know because women who have atypical ductal hyperplasia have about a four to five times risk of developing breast cancer. So that automatically puts women into a high risk category.

    Company Information:
Cynthia Jordan, Founder of Learn Look Locate LLC in 2018 has generated a global movement to provide critical education for the early detection of breast cancer. It is estimated that one in eight women in the United States will develop breast cancer in her lifetime. While most of these cases are diagnosed in women over the age of 50, the disease can affect women of any age. Early detection is critical to survival, yet many women are not familiar with the signs and symptoms of breast cancer.
We advocate the importance of self-breast exams, what to look for when performing a self-exam, and when to see a doctor. We provide resources for women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer, as well as for their families and friends.
The five-year survival rate for women who catch their cancer early is nearly 100%. Here’s an important statistic. Many women do not perform self-breast exams or see a doctor for regular screenings. Learn Look Locate LLC wants to highlight the work of organizations around the world that are working to promote early detection of breast cancer. We will feature stories of women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer and share their journeys.
There are several ways to diagnose breast cancer, including mammograms, biopsies, and ultrasounds. Once breast cancer is diagnosed, there are a few treatment options available, including surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy. The best way to treat breast cancer is to catch it early and to get the best treatment possible.
There is a strong community of women who have been affected by breast cancer. In addition, there are a number of organizations and resources available to help women find the support they need.
Learn Look Locate LLC provides resources for women who want to get involved in the fight against breast cancer.
The experience of individuals in the LGBTQ community with breast cancer screening and care varies significantly. Use of transgender-inclusive terminology is vital.
