Savory oatmeal is SO underrated!! I'll try this recipe. I usually fry it with tomato and onion with spice. Top it will fried egg and avocado, and condiments. *chef kiss*
This is great for diabetics, like myself. When you eat something like this, your glycemic index levels won’t shot up right away. It will gradually increase and decrease at normal rates. In addition, it’s also good for cholesterol levels. Just make sure to serve yourself 1/2 cup or less per serving. Thank you for the idea!
I had never eaten savory oatmeal before but woke up this morning wanting it. I found this recipe and made it with the ingredients I had. It's delicious!
I tried this this morning for breakfast. I topped it with a fried egg ,kewpie mayo, and chili flakes and OMG IT WAS AMAING! (Although don’t add the mayo)
Made mine today for the first time: diced oinion sauteed in a knob of butter with fresh parsley, add McCann's 5 minute oats, toast for a few minutes, add a bit of chicken stock. When ready fried two eggs over-light, chopped some fresh cooked bacon into it, eggs on top. Chop it all up in a bowl and super yum!!! The oats are actually better than rice...
I absolutely LOVE this! I am so happy to have discovered savoury oatmeal. I wanted to cut back on sugar and usually have oatmeal for breakfast, so this was perfect! I love the way you made this, too, so much simpler, quicker, and really yummy.
Savory oatmeal is the best way to cook oatmeal. I mean cook oats in broth, add a bit miso then top it with chopped spring onion and meat floss....also a drizzle of sesame oil.
I had a bowl of unsweetened oatmeal sitting about but I really wanted scrambled eggs with c parsley and bell pepper. You recipe was a perfect union. I used dark soy. I didn’t have chili crisp so I topped with chili flakes, Swad Crispy Fried Onions and trader Joe’s green chili sauce. 🎉👍👌
oatmeal is a grain. no to very mild flavour. it will take on the taste, from anything you cook it with. I ran out of corn and cassava flour, to go with my okra stew. I need something as a swallow. Lo & Behold, oats did the trick.
Making a taco bowl with a serving of oatmeal. The texture and flavor was off to me until I added an acidic sauce like hot sauce or in my case the taco sauce. Instantly turned into a fantastic dish
I add Shan’s Bombay special biryani to mine and tomatoes and onion tharka and I can now replace it with biryani, its soooo good and tasty as a healthy alternative for eating biryani or rice in general it’s so underrated
Lol 😂 .... I've never had it, but I figured if I'm thinking about having savory oatmeal, it's probably a thing. Lo & behold, here I am. 😀 So 'today years old' for me. 😊
I love 99.8% of what you do, and I want to first say I appreciate what you are out here doing. But. Oatmeal as congee is blasphemy 😤 My heart is broken at the thought of savory oatmeal 😢 (jmo) But your plating is wonderful and I think your congee must be to die for. Love ya

I do cream of mushroom soup with rolled oats
vegetable broth, spinach and feta cheese works too. But tbh oatmeal feels more right when its sweet and not savory.
agreed. rice porridge is great savory but oats have to be sweet, right? they have a toothsome texture that just sings with sweet breakfasts.
I just made this. It's sooo good! 🤤 I'll def be doing this more often.
I also put some lemon and pepper on mine 😋
Inspired by "കഞ്ഞി" ❤ From Kerala, India
I feel like the texture of the oats makes me not like it like it’s fine but it would be better if it was rice
