W164 2008 ML Coin Tray Removal, 'Worked for Me' Repair & Reinstall

So, the spoilers are kinda right in the title. My coin tray starts acting a fool, I work some trickery & hope for the best.
Join me while I remove, inspect, analyze, theorize, struggle to separate Velcro, get something sticky on my fingers, sanitize, perform a 'hope for the best' repair, and then reinstall the malfunctioning coin tray in my ML. Includes a one-time repair of the soft open/close function as well. Learn how it works, and what you may be able to do to fix it.
Alternatively, you can watch this, decide it isn't something you want to attempt, get your spouse or friends together & go all 'Office Space' on it in a field while 'Geto Boys - Damn It Feels Good to Be a Gangsta' plays in the background. I think both routes would be a good time, viewer's choice.

I did end up just getting a new drawer, but your video saved me a bunch of unnecessary disassembly. I had already pulled my wooden trim cover and ashtray, but the drawer wasn't yielding at all, and I was just about to attack all the Torx screws below the radio, including the two behind the drawer (which would have needed some demon tight quarters right angle Torx driver, when I went looking for more info and found your video. I was able to see with confidence from your video that the drawer just pulls out with no screws. I went back and pulled a whole lot harder and... pop... out it came for examination and replacement. Thanks for taking the time to make and post this.

If I got a card stuck behind the drawer which is causing it to not close would removing the coin drawer allow me to get the card out without breaking the coin drawer?

Yes, you should be able to remove it and retrieve the card from behind there fairly easily without any damage to the drawer. Just be careful when going through the removal and reinstall. Best of luck!

Unfortunately, my fix only lasted a few months. After some time, it wore away the plastic I reshaped, and started to pop open regularly again. I ended up buying a replacement drawer and installed that, still working like new.
