    In this second lesson, we show you the 5-step method for ECG interpretation made easy, showing you the ECG EKG interpretation basics.
    We start off and cover some basic info that you need to know, including what the boxes on the ECG strip paper mean. From there, we walk you through a basic normal sinus rhythm and show you each of the parts of the ECG tracing along with at the same time we show you on the heart what is happening with the conduction system at each point of that tracing.
    From there, we break down each of the 5-steps and show you the systematic way in which you can work through gathering the information you need from your patients ECG strip in order to make an interpretation of what rhythm they are actually in.
    Hopefully, by the end of this lesson you will feel comfortable going through these 5 steps and that you will be able to properly identify and interpret a basic, normal sinus rhythm.

    A small correction at 4:05. I think you mean every 3 seconds. Since, every big box is 0.2 s and there are 15 big boxes between each dash, we get 0.2 * 15 = 3 seconds.
    But none the less, amazing video. Thanks a bunch. Learned a lot.

    I am currently studying and preparing for my Phlebotomy & EKG certification exam and this has been by far the best explanation of what happens during an EKG. I have watched other videos, bought text books, and not one of them explained what happens in the heart during each complex on the strip like this video did. I have tried for months to master understanding this and I finally can associate what I know in the heart with what I see on the strip from the patient. Very well done and Thank you so much!!!!!

    At the hospital were I work, every year we have to take an EKG exam which can be stressful when working with patients that are stable and the only arrhythmia is controlled Afib, PVC's, Sinus Arrhythmia and Sinus Rhythm. So when this exam comes up, its stressful and we all have to brush up. I happened to come across your lessons and I am so GRATEFUL! I can't tell you how incredibly clear and informative, and just so easy you make every video seem! I can't tell you enough how Blessed I feel to have come across your instructional video's, SO BLESSED! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! GOD BLESS YOU!

    Thank you Eddie! I've been binge watching your videos, they're all great! It's nice to keep re-learning the things I've learnt so I don't forget them, and you explain better than my profs! Though I found watching your videos at 1.75/2x speed much better for my ridiculously short attention span haha

      @ICUAdvantage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are very welcome! You've got a LOT to binge watch these days lol! As for the speed, it's so funny because I hear many people on both sides... either I'm too fast, or I'm too slow. I certainly have heard others mention about speeding it up, which is awesome.

    • @ICUAdvantage
      @ICUAdvantage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lead II presents in the most commonly referenced polarity and strengths that are taught. When you start looking at other leads, things are flipped and look different. Eventually you learn to read these too, but for consistency Lead II is the most commonly referred.

    I’m over here worried I’ll never understand ECG for nursing school and you have been an absolute blessing.
    My only confusion Is about ensuring you are looking at lead 2? Do you have any videos explaining that concept?

    • @ICUAdvantage
      @ICUAdvantage  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great to hear the videos have been helpful.
      I actually get to talking about this in depth in the 12-lead EKG series that I'm currently doing. But Lead II is typically going to be a positive waveform and is generally the one that is best for basic rhythm interpretation as the other leads start to look different. Its just the classic view. It certainly can be done from other views, but is easiest and best from II.

    As usual comprehensive lecture. I know you trying to compact your videos these days and stick to your script. When possible see if you can teach as well by taking a pause to see whether you are carrying people with you or loosing them in them in the conclusions or figures you arrive at. Again many thanks

      Thanks for the feedback. It is something that I have thought a lot about. I have some people who say its too fast, and others who say its too slow, and then again, others who say it's just right. I do feel like I hear more that its too slow vs too fast. I have thought about those breaks to be able to digest information I had just gone over, but I guess I also think the beauty of TH-cam is being able to pause, rewatch, etc to make sure that what was just discussed was received well. I do try and summarize more complicated topics. Its hard to know the pace of someone listening as I can't interact with them. Do you have an example of what it is your suggesting or would recommend?

      @@ICUAdvantage just stick to your original objective of wanting to break down and thoroughly explain or help ICU colleagues cos that's what will keep you distinguished from many many others. Trust me you way above and highly rated already - our tutors actually use some of your drawings!!. You cannot be full all the time. As you know there are many many others trying but your objective is truer. Its all about your target - all ICU inclusive or just those with background experience. A quick eg is when you used, if I'm correct, 1500 or similar in one of your calculations but only someone with quick pace or experience would have followed your deduction; otherwise one has to puzzle about that particular deduction. I think when dealing with deductive or empirical stuff then see if you can labour on the matter slightly more or don't erase the notes too quick. But please stick to what you can and within your restraints cos you already par excellence to so many. Thanks matey

      @@llanceend2970 Thank you. I do truly appreciate the feedback and certainly my end goal is to make these videos the best that I possibly can. I've come to accept that everyone isn't always going to appreciate everything, but if I can appeal to the widest group of people, the better it will be. I do appreciate the example and I do agree that I need to ensure that what I'm talking about that people at all levels are aware. Sometimes I make assumptions, which probably isn't always the best, but at the same time, I want to be careful about going too basic too, if that makes sense. Either way, I appreciate the info and will definitely take it to heart. It's never a both and I enjoy connecting with people and learning how to do things better too! 😊
