    I think Linux is perfect for these kinds of devices. Especially some of the very lightweight distros.
    It's a cool little device, but a little too pricey for me. I'd rather spend that money on upgrading my desktop system.

      @vaisakhkm783 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      it is really powerful.. so no need of lightweight distros

    • @LukeLane1984
      @LukeLane1984 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@vaisakhkm783 Well it's not like you'd need a super lightweight distro, even the most feature packed distros use less system resources than barebones Win 10 home. And if you run Linux you actually own the device, instead of having a big corporation deciding what you can and can not do with your own hardware.
      I'd probably run Garuda Linux if I had this device, but I would probably run XFCE instead of KDE. Even though KDE is my favorite window manager, it does eat up a lot more RAM and diskspace than XFCE. And I'd rather have my games run a little better than having a super modern, slick, great looking window manager.

    i do fancy these little devices with decent keyboards and nice screens.... awesome it has good working pen as well, having linux on that is just heaven but i sure wipe the disk and install it on the internal drive instead of running in test mode from the usb stick

    $1,000 is a bit high. I'd say $400 is probably more appropriate.

    • @Freaĸy
      @Freaĸy ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah it's a bit high but the processor (CPU) Is $469.00 alone it's kinda overkill. Also 1 tb NVMe storage can vary from 50$-100$+ usd and 16 gb smasung lpddr4 ram so it should be 900$-1000$ usd

    When you type hard or fast is there screen wobble? One thing I have found with single hinge devices like this is that fast or hard typing can cause the display to wobble which can get really distracting once you notice it.

    is KVM (Keyboard Video Mouse(over usb c-in and hdmi-in module)) still running under linux?

    • @erikchumbley3014
      @erikchumbley3014 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Seconded, this question makes or breaks whether I decide to pick up one of these or instead try to build some kind of pi-based cyberdeck. I saw that Windows picks up the display in as a secondary camera, but does linux see it the same way? The serial module is cool too, but I have a USB adapter for that sort of thing. Plus, it's not often that I have to PuTTY into things. But that KVM module would be super useful for servers and Raspberry Pi projects.

    How about power consumption as well on Ubuntu? Could you please test it? Could you please also test temperature\CPU throttling for at least 30 min stress test?

    I would have preferred the smaller form factor TBH. I get what they are trying to do but having carried pocket computers since 1984 I find distinct advantages to a truly trouser friendly form factor.

      @DLVRYDRYVR 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ah the old "pocket" gripe 🤣 Rest assured! It fits in many pockets. But if you *really* need it in your pants pocket, Linus demonstrated that already lolz

    • @davocc2405
      @davocc2405 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I can speak from 37 years experience on this one. Pocketable systems mean you can use them incidentally because you always have them on you; go above that in a practical sense and it's too big a compromise and bam, usability drops off quite sharply for quite a few users. A pocket system should be about making use of dead time as much as you want to, something you have to manually carry never has the same level of usefulness.
      Go above a reasonable size and it just becomes painful to pocket as well; HP did it with the 95LX to the 200lx (though the 320lx and above were a bit messy), can't see why they can't continue this tradition today.

      The gpd micropc is a bit smaller but yeah finding something in the form factor I want is difficult. I have cargo pants and this should fit in a cargo pocket or back pants pocket but it's kinda big. Definitely an awesome replacement for something like my old thinkpad x120e though.

    I think Fedora supports fractional scaling, it just requires copy pasting one or two terminal commands. I assume that since the Gnome on Fedora is so close to vanilla Gnome that it comes from there. Fractional scaling isn't the most stable feature yet

    • @noahpaulette1490
      @noahpaulette1490 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Definitely yeah but considering inflation and chip supply problems it's not as overpriced as one would initially think.
      What you get
      4c 8t cpu that hits 5ghz
      16gb of ram
      1tb ssd
      Tons of battery
      Hand held kvm function
      Pen support
      It's a niece device without a ton of demand so they have to sell at a higher price plus they like to make money.

    I am from Jordan.. How can I get on like this.. And does it support Arabic language?

    • @LukeLane1984
      @LukeLane1984 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're probably going to have to import it from the USA, or perhaps Europe would be a better choice, shipping costs will be lower. Common computer hardware stores usually don't carry these kinds of niche products.
      I think Amazon probably has it, or at least a very similar product, so maybe you could have a look on Amazon UK.
      You're going to have to check what the laws and regulations are in your country regarding importing this kind of product, and what extra costs are involved. You'll probably have to pay taxes and perhaps an import fee.
      And as far as language support, Ubuntu Linux and Windows both have full support for the Arabic language.
      But the BIOS/UEFI is probably English only, not sure.
