I recorded this as a little kid in Allentown, PA. Every year I would record Madison's drumline and they would say "Here comes the kid with the bright light".....😄😄😄😄😄😄
WOW, that's interesting!! I went to my first live Drum Corps show in 1995 (only one year after you did). It was in Alton, Illinois where the Blue Devils and Phantom Regiment were competing back to back. It was the year that Phantom Regiment came out with black uniforms. WOW, being at my first live Drum Corps show and seeing how Blue Devils and Phantom Regiments were SUPER SUPER loud and sounded like rock concert, and to see all of the crazy phenomenal drumming at the same time was something that I'll never forget!! And being at our first Drum Corps are definitely things we never forget!!
I marched Colts snare line in 1994, us and Madison's snare line from that year were pretty tight with each other and shared music. The tempo of the snare feature was 128.
Wow, what a fantastic breakdown and an awesome video! I marched in the Colts soprano line in 1994, and we did a lot of shows with Madison. I loved seeing their show all summer, and this is one of my favorite drum breaks from the '90s. Very cool to finally learn what they were doing years later! (I've done some drumming but have never approached the level of being good enough to break down what is going on in a feature like this myself.) If you feel like breaking down another one from this era, I'd like to suggest another classic: The snare break from the 1992 Crossmen show, which maybe had my favorite drum feature ("The Rainforest") of all time.
4:35 You have the rhythm correct in this bar, but the sticking was slightly different. Instead of the 2nd herta sticking, the 32nd notes are RR (a diddle basically) and then the next two 16th notes are L L. So that bar has one herta and then one diddle and 2 lefts. It's a small but brilliant difference. You'll fall in love with this sticking once you get it. Otherwise a very nice breakdown!
Hey the madison scouts are my favorite marching band and this drum lesson was fun for me and was fun practicing but the hard part was the pancake roll but it was a lot fun thank you for the lesson😁🙂 and have a good morning🌄🌞🌄🌞
Subscribed. This has been “my jam” since high school and I finally learned it. Currently in the process of getting it clean. Thanks for the instruction !
Well done! I was in that snare line - you brought back some great memories!
you were in a great line.

Love that, def something that's hard to explain to other, how big the sound is, doesn't cone across on video.
This channel is solid gold as a self taught rudimental drummer
If I had had this in highschool I may have been able to march :(
Love that you do not edit out your mistakes!

I've been wanting to learn this since 94 I just learned it this week because of you thank you!
Glad to help 👍

1994 was the year I travelled out to the US with "pride of Bristol" UK drum corps. these corps and Colds really opened my eyes to what was possible!
Yeah do 1992 crossmen!
1991 crossmen would also be fun 😊

1995 would kick ass
older writings are cool as well
Blue Devils 2022 Snare Break
Is it me or do they rush the back sticking portion? They’re together, but metrically it just doesn’t feel right
Also, didn't know Kevlar was a thing in 1884😂😂
Pls don't block me
Just picking bro
Keep it up!
Tge good work, as well as the title
lol. oops... just fixed.
Dang, where'd you get sheets from 1884?
imagine how good drumlines are going to be in 100 years time lol
@@FreestyleRudiments well, you just jumped a century from 1884, to 1994, so I guess we know now 🤣
👌
Who cares about the current stuff we want the old stuff 1993 cadets!
Do drumlines still play breaks this MEATY 🍖 anymore?!?!
I don't know, I can only stand to watch the shows from the late 80s to mid 90s when DCI was awesome. Not much for today's dance and band instruments.
