Great video I think the song was censored and had some weird voice shifting and background noise (sinks and beeping) because the lyrics video used the audio from the music video rather than the album version. Also my explanation of the line at 4:05 “We tryna buy back our 40 acres” refers to 40 acres and a mule (part of the special field orders 15 of the union in the US civil war) that land seized from slave owners would be redistributed and freed families would be given 40 acres of land and a mule as a form of reparation to help “make up” for the wealth extracted from these communities and give freed slaves a more equal footing given the huge inequality in wealth caused by the generations of institutionalised slavery. However after Lincoln was assassinated, his successor prevented most of these measures being put in place. The line I think refers to Kanye’s feeling in some way he has to be materialistic as the only way to reach that equal footing his ancestors were promised and imo rightfully entitled to is through accruing wealth and being able to purchase that “40 acres” himself.

the weird audio stuff is because the lyric video you were watching just ripped the audio from the music video
