Especially when he started rapping in the mid-2000s, rap was mainly based in the cities and about street life, social issues etc. and there was not much representation of the white suburban youth. When he started rapping, he embraced this side of him, as well as some references to anime/manga and video games which again were much less mainstream than today, and this made him very popular as he was appealing to a new group that had not seen representation before. A few years after you can see a new generation of rappers who also focus more on their own personality and interests rather than trying to make themselves look cool, so he was quite ahead of his time. Just some background information on the artist that some people might not be aware of.
You should react to more songs from Lomepal btw, he did a couple with Orelsan I believe. I suggest in order "Pal Pal" (pretty dark song and music video but disguised as a funny and light tv game show), in it Lomepal plays a character : the host of the tv show, a bit creepy and heartless, and second music video would be "Dis la vérité" by Lomepal ft. Orelsan, where the character Lomepal played a couple years before is back.
