I used Permatex Ultra Gray on my Maxima's oil pan 10 years ago and till this day I have no oil leaks whatsoever. It's really important to prep the sealing surface real good and allow plenty of time for the RTV to cure. I always give it 24 hours before exposing it to any oil..
Also don't squeeze the surface down too tight. Need to leave room for the seal to form if you squeeze it down too far it will never seal. Best to lightly tighten like quarter turn or less then when it dries most of the way hit it with torque spec. About 5-8ft lbs depending on vehicle, these pans are actually easier to do with a in lb. setup but a lot of people wont have anything to measure that.
@@Bawkr I usually just fully tighten but let it cure for 24 hours before adding fluid to whatever it's sealing, never had a problem. that's pretty much what the factories do, no time to wait on the assembly line...
@@uptownsamcv Never had any luck getting it to seal unless I let it setup first. It would squeeze all of the filler out making a nice big leak or multiple.
Be sure to mention that the closures on the Tube RTV products fail consistently, and that the company should change the design or the material to eliminate the problem!
Which Permatex product for a transmission pan that needs to be driving as soon as ppssible. In other words, which product to use if you can't wait the 24 hour drying period? Thank you.
Hello! I've used for Mitsubishi 4G64 GDI engine Permatex Ultra Grey for cylinder head upper surface. It holds since 3 years: no leaks, no troubles. But as i yesterday "opened" used oil filter i've seen some remains of this sealant in there! Could synthetic blend oil dissolve RTV? It's Eurol Super Light 5W-30. Thanks!

@@permatexvideos Thanks for the video. Any one could be used to seal the leaking from the power steering pressure hose (the joint between the rubber and metal parts)? Thanks.
If you can get your hands on a gasket buy it !! If you have no access or cannot wait for a casket and have the RTV use the rtv I personally like the gasket cuz there's a lot less messy and I've never had a problem !!!! Blue pill or red pill ha
Man thats low! Unrelated, your telling me they sell gaskets and some are crap from experience, and this video says no gasket is needed and this works better! If so, they shouldn't be selling people crap gaskets
You never even said what RTV means. You literally left out the single most important piece of information. It always amazes me how company and sales people drink so much of their own kool-aid they become clueless how they sound on the outside.
It's kind of like 80s wrestling. You had the champion, then you had the state champion, the national champion, you also had the intercontinental champion, the intercontinental WORLD heavyweight champion, and the Universal heavyweight champion.....you also had the WWE, WWF, WWW, WWWF the WCW, Georgia championship wrestling, NWA and WTF variants of each of the above champions and you had the tag-team equivalents of each as well......all of which were bullshit.....all of these will leak.
papers, your post started to take me back to my childhood, and then not. You made some big claims, I hope they’re from your personal experience with every single RTV mentioned/picture.

The ultra synthetic gasket maker... the only thing i have found to seal the timing covers on the Ford v6's

KnightHawk yes you need to get a normal gasket and put it on dry

Devo no way man. Some of my cars used a cork gasket on the oil pan from the factory and it’s TRASH.
Don't know why choosing the right gasket maker is difficult now
There’s always the actual gasket
Can it be used on valve cover gasket??
Therey1898 RTV Red high temp.
Yo anyone else see how much right stuff they splooged into that Subaru oil pan? 😂 💀

They all work if you sell the car fast...oil pans are just made stupid. Channel in block w o-ring??hello?
Only use the Permatex products none better.
Who is the clown applying it at 28secs? Stevie Wonder could have done it better. That will seal the oil way resulting in a scrap motor!!
