I was about to try it but I am against "always online" games unless they are designed to be multiplayer-only games eg MMO, free to play shooters like fortnite etc It's a shame because I would haved loved the crew series if they didn't require online connection. I was a fan of Test Drive Unlimited series which this game and Forza Horizon seem to be 'spiritual successors' of. Will stick to Kart Racers like Mario Kart for my thrills.

Yep! It is officially confirmed that The Crew 2 will require only internet connection. They keep it online so they can prevent any mods and hacks on the game. I agree with you that offline mode needs to be part of the game since the servers are crashing from time to time.
Online makes you keep paying to play. 1) Once it has been around a few years they can make people move on to another game simply by ending server support. Or they can lease the game to you so you can enter the world. The Bottom line is you never own the game. The new trend is to end ownership of things.

I'm feeling the same way. I Really Really wanted this game. Something different from The Need For Speed which I Absolutely Love. This is the weekend that I found out that I could play the Crew 2 for free and get it for 50% off. I wanted to get the game & season pass that I was hoping to buy today. I have the 1gig internet speed so it's not a problem. However I'm not feeling that I neeed to be connected just to play a Damn game. I have MK11 and I don't like the online crap but at least I could play it somewhat. Sorry, I'm not buying it. This digital crap is ruining everything. So so as much as I'm unhappy that I won't be buying it -AT ALL - I'm saving myself the Aggravation!!!
A Not-so-Fun Fact: Ubisoft will not only shut TC2's online servers down, but they'll also silently remove the game from your library as well, meaning it's impossible for you and anyone else to refund it. If crew 2 was offline it would probably take up 2000gbs of hard drive space or even more instead of 60gb. The entire map is on a dedicated server which puts less stress on our computers. They would have to redesign how the map renders in and compress the file which might not be possible.

STEEP is another game that requires you to be online. I deleted it off of my console when I had no internet connection
