    When I switched to Alcon lenses I tried to switch to using OptiFree PureMoist but didn't last long. I was only able to wear my lenses for about 8 hours before they dried out and my eyes were so blood shot and irritated. Also, I had to use rewetting drops constantly throughout the day. After several weeks, I had to go back to Bio True. I can wear my lenses for 16+ hours with no irritation or dryness and have never once needed to use rewetting drops. I have friends who swear by OptiFree but everyone's eyes are different so we all just need to find what works for us.

      It’s true. And you would probably have issues with all Optifree solutions as it is their preservative you are sensitive to. Stick to BioTrue. 16 hours is awesome! Thanks for watching!

      I haven't used the Air Optix (Alcon lenses) but my eyes got red from the Puremoist solution, switched to Renu multipurpose and I immediately noticed a difference. But then had a Optifree express bottle at home which I tried the other day just to see if it was the same but eyes stayed fine...Is it something different in the Optifree express ??

    I really want to know how long I can keep coloured contacts in solution before having to replace it? Because mines have a 3 month expiration date and I don’t wear them everyday. Thanks in advance!!

      Great Question Lisa! If you know you are not going to wear your contacts for 2 days or more with them in solution, I would suggest that you put them in fresh solution (do not top off) the night before you plan to wear them. I have seen patients store their contacts in the same solution for weeks, to find out that not only did the solution lose its antimicrobial effectiveness, but they had become contaminated and caused an eye infection. Thanks so much for asking!

    I have allergic eyes which contact lense solution will be best for me??

    Is it okay if we don't change solution, is there any major problem if we don't change solution daily?
    And how often we need to change solution in colour contact lenses?

    • @JoelHayden
      @JoelHayden  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It is only okay to not change it daily if you don't wear them daily. Let's assume you wear them once a week. I would make it a point to change the solution the night before the day you wear them. The contact lens solution efficacy dramatically decreases after 36-48 hours. Wearing contacts that have been stored in solution for over a week can increase your risk of infections and corneal ulcers.

    Hey doc I’m having a hard time cleaning my scleral contacts I want to know the best way to clean them

  • @aavashism

    Hey Doc, Many times when I'm trying to apply my contacts they drop on the floor. What do I do then? Am I not allowed to wear it for another 6 hours? Because I drop my contacts pretty often when I put them on. I'm a newbie lens wearer.

    • @JoelHayden
      @JoelHayden  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Thank you for your comment!
      Couple of thoughts. 1. Yes, if a lens drops on the floor then you should really re--disinfect it for 6 hours. 2. A better option (especially when you are a newbie) is to lay a clean towel or paper towel on counter/over sink. So that if it does drop, all you need to do is rinse it and re-attempt. Hope this helped!

    What is your thoughts on the ReNu cleaner?(I know they had a recall many years ago I was actually using it then with no problems, but I am older now and have many health issues that damaged my eyes.) I am struggling with dry eye and the opti free isn’t helping with that.

    • @cg0825
      @cg0825 ปีที่แล้ว

      I remember the recall but I think it was just the Moisture Lock variety which they don't make anymore. I have daily disposables now so I just use saline as needed.

    Let me know what your favorite solution is and why?

  • @clintcornett79

    Does anyone here if your contacts are dry or cloudy put solution directly in your eyes? I do actually either Renu or Opt-free never had any issues, done it for years. Should I not be doing this?

Should I keep on change the solution between theeze dayz.. When I don't wear them......??..bcoz when I wear them after a month.. My eyes got irritated so much.. That I can't even blink them 🥺...

    • @gatesroyale
      @gatesroyale 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s because they go past the expiration date. You leave them in there too long

    I have opti free pure moist with hydra glide but idk if they’re eye drops and do i put it before putting my contacts in or while i have the contacts in?

    • @aygulmemet4201
      @aygulmemet4201 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's a disinfecting solution. You're not supposed to put it directly into your eye. If you want eye drops use Opti-free Puremoist Rewetting Drops (while you have contacts in).
