1. Get your tokens guys. They are great. 2. hopeful initiate is a boros card where it has a very high ceiling. One: This two: guide, swiftspear plus burn. The fact it has artifact destruction its in my vintage powered environment 3. Welcoming vampire is very underrated. It's not the best thing since slice bread but it's a relevant, splashbable 3 drop. This + ophiomancer?;)
Man, you sound so tired and burnt out in this one compared to how you usually sound. I sort of don't blame you, given the quality of the set. Your tone matches my feelings pretty much exactly.
I have others! There's the Cultic Cube that was featured on MTGO, and a Ravnica Remastered cube, which actually existed in a few versions, one of which I developed in collaboration with our mutual friend Jbro. At the moment, my "main cubes" are these two, but I've worked on, I dunno, eight or ten maybe?
Thanks cat! I considered Gatekeeper. I think it's a perfectly reasonable card and worth trying if it looks appealing. I'm not high on Eidolon of the Great Revel or Harsh Mentor, and while I know this has advantages over those, not least of which is First Strike, I feel like I can get more out of my aggressive red twos. I am on 2x fetch in Eleusis, which should make this card better than it might be in a singleton fetch environment!
I've noticed your Elusis cube has no GW cards in it all! How intentional is this? I've always put (possibly too much) effort into keeping the color pairs balanced out, is this just not something you're concerned with?
Yeah, that's a good observation! I try to keep color numbers somewhat balanced - or not, you know, noticably skewed for drafters. However, I don't care at all about what is sometimes called "spreadsheet aesthetics." If there are five more blue cards than white cards, for instance, drafters won't notice, and I'm fine with it if I feel as if it helps the cube design goals. In other environments I've designed, I do maintain stricter balance.
Oh that's too bad. Do you like Bygone Bishop or Mentor of the Meek? How does this stack up against those? I never much cared for Mentor as you have to pay up front, while Bishop makes you pay later. I appreciate that this thing does away with payment entirely, though of course we have to meet some conditions.
@@CulticCube It's the whole 'only once per turn' stipulation that drives me to insanity - Mentor of the Meek is fine to me, a perfect way for white to draw cards, and an affect it sorely needs more of.
I thought this card looked mediocre at first too, but after playing with it in a specifically faster environment, it turned out to perform surprisingly well.
Good breakdown. It's funny that in most cube environments there isn't a lot that would grab my attention (although the hexproof werewolf, despite being unfun, is a card I would absolutely play for degeneracy :p).
..."this ability triggers only once per turn."
Thanks for the video! Some fun stuff to consider.

Do ittt! The world needs more cube content!

Do you think you’ll ever make a third cube?

@@CulticCube wow! I feel dumb for not knowing but I assumed the cultic cube was a name change for Elayisisisis because the name wasn’t clear 😅😅
@@parttimecomix Everyone knows Elephantitis, Jon. Gosh, get with the program already! 😂
Did you think about cemetery gatekeeper at all? Great video 🙌🏻

Welcoming vampire is easily the most underwhelming rare in the set. I'm so sad to see it and I doubt very much it'll see play in anything.
I've played with it and it was basically a Phyrexian Arena with flying. Card was very good here.

Oh man that hexproof-granting green six drop is something. Something I hate, lol!
