Hey, I enjoyed your analysis! Another cool thing about The Wandering Emperor is that it can also be flashed in on your turn if you need a Battlefield Promotion. Looking forward to part 2!
I have the same list, more or less. Just wanna mention that I think the Wandering Emperor is more of a control card, since it can defend your life total better than all the other 4 mv walkers in white, while being ok in aggro (as an aggro top end, I put her on par with Serra and behind the 2 Elspeth and Gideon).
That's a good note, thanks! I hadn't been thinking of putting her in a control shell, as my control decks typically don't care about creatures. But I can totally see how she could work well in a slower, more controlling shell.
hey John, agree with 90 % of comments. What about Satoru Umezawa? He gives Ninjitsu which is absurd with fatties (Eldrazi?), he has decent stats and he also enables card-draw. for me it's within top 5 from this set.
Eater of virtue gives you your death triggers. "When equipped creature dies, exile it" is a death trigger, there's no way to get one death trigger without getting all applicable death triggers, except for a couple weird cards that do things like "when ~ dies, exile it. If you do..."
I started with Kamigawa, which was a terrible set. So happy to see this new set. I've long ago left MTG for other, better card games, but cube is a good way to maintain some interest in it. Never been this excited to see a new set.
I'm excited, too! I didn't much care for Kamigawa, though I wasn't really playing much at the time, anyway. But the new set looks very good -- much better for cube than Innistrad 3 (MID+VOW).
Disagree on Rabbit Battery being an upgrade over Bomat Courier. Courier is incredible in red decks if you get it out early. Red decks run out of cards pretty quickly so Courier's ability to fill your hand after a few hits makes it irreplaceable, imo.
Very true that red decks often want more gas. Unless, you know, you've just killed 'em already. In my experience, Courier doesn't often do what it promises. But that may well be a function of either (or both) the particularities of my environment or of my players. I'm totally with you that it's a powerful card with a lot of promise. It has hung around in my cube since KLD! Thanks so much for making the case for Courier!
Yeah The Wandering Emperor is such a cool card. I do think Reinforced Ronin fits into a lot of red aggro decks, and you can toss it when you don't need it. What do you think of You Are Already Dead? Personally I'm high on this card. I'll be replacing Bone Shard with it in my Pauper and One Drop Cube.
I'm no expert on Pauper formats, but I bet you're right that Pauper will love the card. And I can totally see it in a one drop cube. I don't like the card for the environment I discuss in this video, as the has too many hoops to jump through for my taste.
I'm not big on errata'd Neo Kiki but I think 1RR feels better than just slamming it down at RR. I get having one mana restriction in the activation makes a lower casting cost justified. I have to figure if 5 mana Kiki is amazing in the right deck, 3 mana Neo-Kiki can still take over a game. But the name of the game is to load up on 0,1,and 2 drops, then RR it is. You'll playtest this more than most so I'm sure you'll make a better informed decision down the road. Great video. Great evaluations per usual. Cheers 🙂

Great note, thanks! That is a sneaky way of playing her as an aggressive combat trick.
Oh dang! Missed this! Hope to play your cube at Cube Con!!!
Sweet. I've been waiting for this.
Thanks for saying so!
Been looking for discussion about cube, and this is impressively in-depth. Really great thoughts, I'm looking forward to implementing some of these

Awesome, thank you!

Kamigawa 1 was amazing.
The Sphere is the real deal...

Yeah 3 mv might well be the spot! I still want to test it at a really aggressive mana cost first, though.
