- Wikipedia: "Here's That Rainy Day" is a popular song with music by Jimmy Van Heusen and lyrics by Johnny Burke, published in 1953. It was introduced by Dolores Gray in the Broadway musical Carnival in Flanders.
The song has been recorded by many jazz and pop singers, including Tony Bennett, Dee Dee Bridgewater, The Stan Kenton Orchestra, June Christy, Rosemary Clooney, Perry Como, Vic Damone, Billy Eckstine, Ella Fitzgerald, Lou Rawls, Astrud Gilberto (with Stan Getz), Lena Horne, Phyllis Hyman, Jack Jones, Steve Lawrence, Peggy Lee, Kenny Rankin, Frank Sinatra, Kiri Te Kanawa, Mel Torme, Sarah Vaughan and Andy Williams. I remember Dud' and the trio doing a musical interlude every week, on the BBC program, Not Only But Also back in the sixties. It was an introduction to this sort of piano music, which I've loved ever since.
A lovely melody played by a very special pianist who brought listening joy to so many - he is greatly missed.

What a talent, what an amazing talent and what a loss to all of us sit on himself. Losing the ability to play like that because of a brain issue which could have been brought on by his cholesterol medicine, which he was on tremendous amounts of cholesterol-lowering lowering a drug's. Of course, your brain's supposed to have cholesterol in it. Anyhow, he's buried in South Plainfield. New Jersey
Pleas do not “Bash,and pound out”the piano when playing Here’s That Rainy Day....I love Dudley Moor’s playing but not like this..
This is not a song that can be pounded out, up-beat, on the piano that way. Too bad. I have played the piano my whole life, auditioned before Horowitz and other greats. They told me a piano was not an instrument to be pounded on like so many do. I was told to play it with authority but do NOT pound it! I shudder when I see or hear people pound it and/or lay on the pedal!
