Thank you for watching! I’ll be uploading new content soon. I’m really hoping the production version of Galdor’s Grip is available soon as it’s such a good game.
I love Galdor's Grip that i commissioned a print shop for a high quality printout. Im also looking to print this again on my own using linen sheets. It's a game that's a part of my everyday carry. I never leave the house without it along with my phone, wallet and keys, as well as my EDC gaming device, and my earbuds. :)
Great video and im happy I found this channel. More channels dedicated to small inexpensive boardgames are needed. Postage is killing a lot of us international hobby game fans. Keep up the great work. I subscribed.
Thank you so much for watching and subscribing, and for the feedback. Interestingly enough I have a bit of a ramble/ rant planned about postage when my copy of Gloomhaven Buttons and Bugs arrives, because it was an absolutely ridiculous price.
Thank you for watching! Galdor’s Grip is a great little game and I hear it’s been picked up for production, so I’m looking forward to seeing where it goes next.
Just found your channel and this is a great video. Exactly the type of games I'm looking for, and coincidently the kind I try to design. This is great, thanks!
@@BoardGameBadger I think you might like my solo clue themed game "Whodunit In Your Pocket". I have a recent overview video that's pretty decent, but I'm also working on an updated version of that game. I have some other good stuff, but all in the works at this point.
I second Maiden's Quest being really fun! I love the mechanic of turning cards around and upside down while going through the deck multiple times. Galdor's Grip reminds me of Ugly Gryphon Inn, which I really enjoy. I'm really looking forward to playing Ragemore and Looking For Healer, once I get the time to figure out how to play them properly. I love print and play card games and I'm amazed at how much strategy can be crammed into some of these smaller games.
Print and play card games are so innovative and fun. I haven’t tried Ugly Gryphon Inn but I’ve had it recommended multiple times, I think the artwork is pretty cute so it’s probably one to add to my list
@BoardGameBadger I found a video with a good explanation for Ragemore and its a LOT of fun! It's HARD but plays quickly, with a LOT of depth for an 18 card game. th-cam.com/video/btHJR2IrwGg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=hLgbAJG6dgdEFSqK
I am new to board gamin, of rather getting back into it after 30 years. I enjoy your recommendations, how you present the games, and diversity. If there were a way to "tip" you I would. If I can "support" you in any other way, please let me/us know
Thank you, that’s very kind. I have a tip jar at ko-fi.com/boardgamebadger How exciting to be getting back into the hobby! I’d love to hear how you feel things have changed in board gaming since you last played.
also loving Rove and Ancient Realms :) btw.. the starting resources have always white border around them , should you be uncertain when starting this game after some time :) pretty handy
Nice list! Thank you for sharing. I need to check out Deckula! and Doom Machine was too brutal for me. I would suggest checking out Cursed!? It's a variant on blackjack with special powers and plays in 5 minutes.
Thank you! I think I’ve heard of Cursed! But I’ve not looked into it in much detail. I’ll have to have another look. You’re right, Doom Machine can be a little brutal.
Think my comment didn’t save or something so apologies for the brevity - great choices. I’d add buttonshy wise (big fan here!): - At the helm - Food chain island - Spaceshipped (Fantasyform a slight tweak and fantasy instead of space theme is coming in 2024 - speaking of which so is TWO Rove follow ups - aqua Rove and Rove Jr!)
Every time I’m in the ButtonShy store I look at Spaceshipped and think it looks like a good one for me. Does Food Chain Island have good replay value? I haven’t gone for it before because at first glance it looks like the game plays out in a similar way each game?
Every time you’re at the buttonshy store?! I would’ve put my house on your being in the U.K. 😅 - lucky stuff being able to visit it! Food chain island - I see what you mean for sure but for me it’s like a perfect puzzle. Sure the 16 cards have the same abilities but the setup means it’s completely different each time (you can even mess around with different shaped setups to make stuff more challenging) and making one particular move instead of another will likely change a lot of the following moves and end game scenario. Generally a tough game too which for me is perfecto. It’s probably most similar to Rove in terms of chess like movements I guess but at the same time not similar(!)
Haha, I mean the virtual store. We’re still pretty lucky in the UK as they have a distribution hub here which keeps shipping down. So I do browse the webstore pretty often.
Just found this video, great list and some interesting new stuff to check out. Have subbed to see new videos from you. Would love to see a bump in resolution on your video.
Thanks very much, I’m working with quite primitive tools at the moment, I probably need to invest in a decent camera to make the content look better. Thanks for watching!
The only micro games that I have are Button Shy and Mint Works (and the other mint titles) and I'm hoping to receive Orchard/Forage/? soon. I like them for travelling and alot of game variety in a small space, but the portability, light in size and weight to carry, and usually small tablespace requirement became very important for me this year. I'm doing well now but I had a couple of surgeries this year and was thrilled to find that most of the Button Shy games could be played on a hospital bed table, and when I recovered beyond that need a big box game would slide off my lap if I tried to carry it while using a wheelchair. I'm able to walk now but my balance is still an issue so getting physically heavy games to the table is less appealing right now. Last year the bigger boxes felt like exciting possibilities, but when mobility puts things out of reach, the perspective changes. I'll get back to those big boxes in the future but right now the little games are increasingly appreciated.
Thank you for sharing, and I’m glad to hear you’re doing well now. Being able to physically handle games, from a table space, storage and weight perspective is incredibly important and it’s great you found Button Shy titles hit the mark for you. I hope you continue to get better, and get those big games out soon. In terms of the games you mention, I used to have Orchard but gave it away. I have high hopes that Forage will add some really good replayability to what is a cracking game formula.
Nice games 😁 A suggestion if I may: if you have the time, please add timestamps😊 I sometimes like to jump back to a game to get an information or suchlike. 🍀
Thank you! I will look into how to do timestamps, it’s lack of skills rather than lack of time that’s prevented me doing it so far 🤣 thanks for the feedback.
Ps: If you have a direct contact (email perhaps) and fancy it I could get the publisher of my game to send you a copy when released next year. No expectation for anythjng but as it’s a 18 card microgame this vid makes me think it might be up your street! Can’t promise anything but always passing on possible people to send copies to who may enjoy it and shout about it lol😅
I love Doom Machine. I have Rove too, and I enjoy it (enough to have gotten both new versions on the kickstarter) but... man, that game needs an undo function. I'll be noodling around with the cards, trying to plot out possible moves, and suddenly I'll realize I don't remember the original position. Doesn't happen a lot, but one time is enough to spoil a run.
Oh goodness please don’t take any print and play best practice from me I’m so rubbish at it 🤣 I just used standard printer paper, if I print the fronts and backs on two different pieces paper of and then insert them into the sleeve then the card seems to be ok for my purposes. But I’m sure other people will be able to make more educated recommendations
to start a video with 3 full minutes of static image of some kind of square.... well, I wouldn't do that myself because of viewers with the attention span of a goldfish. Also, there is a format in which you can use timestamps in the video description, it provides some structure. But I love the accent ♥
Yes I’m new to this and still figuring out what works best from a content perspective, and I’m also still learning the ropes from a technical perspective. Things will get better over time. Thanks for the feedback!

Thanks for watching! It really is a great world to explore. So many imaginative tiny games out there! Enjoy!
