    idk if you missed it or not but Obi Wan tells kid Leía before he says goodbye forever that if she ever needs help from a tired old man, she knows who to call. He then tells her that “we must be careful, no one must know. It could endanger us both.” This whole dialogue fixes Leía’s message to Obi Wan in A New Hope on why she speaks to him formally as if she doesnt know him, she was just being careful in the message just in case it falls into the wrong hands.

Yo dude, I just wanted to tell you that I'm a 35 year old Army Vet and responded EXACTLY the way that you did... idk why, but that hit me harder in the feels than maybe anything I've ever seen in cinema. My headcanon is now that Owen and Beru killed more Stormtroopers than the amount who died in the Battle of Endor before they were finally taken down, and the survivors took away the bodies and that's why when Luke showed up there were no dead Stormtroopers at the farm. They're too badass to have died without putting up a huge fight.

    Vader's mask getting damaged and the words shared between him and Obi-Wan has probably become one of my favorite scenes in all of Star Wars. Say what you want about the rest of the series, but this specific moment is perfectly written, directed, and acted. Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen have such good on-screen chemistry. Ewan nails Alec Guiness' speech pattern perfectly. Hayden gets a lot of flak for the prequels sometimes but honestly it's the dialogs fault and not his. George Lucas wrote some wonky lines for that role in the prequel trilogy.

Terrific moment, but for me nothing compared to the first few horn notes of Leia's Theme when Obi-Wan says "Princess Leia Organa..." tearing up just typing it. Ugh. So powerful.

The entire show she’s been calling him Ben meanwhile she’s been hearing increments of obi wan from others, and she finally calls him obi wan now she knows who he really is. Great reaction dudes! So as your debate about whether Obi-Wan should have killed Anakin, I would just like to add that not only is that not what the Jedi are supposed to do, but more specifically Obi-Wan is just unwilling to be an executioner.
    He will kill in battle when necessary but he will not do a premeditated murder like that. Mace windu on the other hand was willing to kill the Senate. But that's the difference between the two of them.
    It's a line Obi-Wan just will not cross

    Wow! I just got around to watching this series and saw that you guys did a reaction to the finale! I agree wholeheartedly with you Nerdy. This finale and in particular the fight between Obi Wan and Vader was truly almost perfect. The way they shot that final conversation with the effects of the mask, the voice switching from human to mechanical and variations between, the lighting on Vader's face switching from blue and red, and the emotion from both Hayden and Ewan was probably the best Star Wars scene ever! And like you said it did so much for Episode IV and the original trilogy. Now if they could find a way to fix the parsec thing 😆 Great reaction and hope to see more reactions from you guys. Hello there !
    And Anakin finally got the high ground (even though he lost in the end ) but he underestimated Obi wan's powers
    I can live happily now .
    26:30 I hear you guys and a lot many people say Obi wan could have killed Anakin in Revenge of the sith or for instance here where Vader was defeated knowing there's no anakin left in him . But you should all recall , Vader is the product of a powerful young jedi turned dark after being betrayed by his own people . But still he is the choosen one cause ultimately he destroyed both the good and the bad bringing neutral balance . And if Obi wan would have killed him of , he would have been going back on his words in ep5 of the series , "a jedi aim is to save life, not take them" and even if this doesn't suffice you , we couldn't have gotten the most cold badass villain ever in history if he would have killed him 😅😆

    • @captaindelta43
      @captaindelta43 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Btw I also agree Obi wan didn't see the future cause he thought Vader is only coming after him , until of course. Vader is the most powerful of them all and lives in his own class ranking , and no one except of course who really know anakin can defeat him .

    "You didn't kill Anakin Skywalker....I did." I think that happened when Padme and his child died. (He did think the child was dead too.) He had nothing left to hang on to. Exactly why Palpatine told him he killed her and exactly why he pulled Vader away from his pursuit of Obi-Wan. But Vader didn't kill ALL of Anakin, as we see here (the flashes of blue turned to red indicates his inner struggle.) and will see later.

  • @G1Transformed

    14:09 Just about every TH-camr asked this question. Why is that? This planet, like every other planet in the universe is spherical. If the Star Destroyer isn't on this side of the planet, it's on the other side. Who would Obi-Wan want to leave on the side the Star Destroyer was on? More importantly, why would the Star Destroyer want to engage him after their boss just told them that he'd engage Obi-Wan alone? They know what Darth Vader would do to them if they disobeyed his orders, lol.
    16:59 I don't think it was for the Emperor, but for the moment Anakin finally stopped chasing after his past and embraced the present, truly becoming Darth Vader.
    23:15 I think every Star Wars fan everywhere now believes that Aunt Beru and Uncle Owen when did fighting. They must have beat the Stormtroopers so badly that they second wave of troopers came in to torch the place, which makes much more sense to me. Especially if they were initially there to search for droids. Why would they burn the place if they didn't have the droids they were looking for? I can see why they'd torch the place if the folks inside killed a bunch of their men and wasn't about to surrender.
    This series is the best Star Wars has ever been for me. This episode, especially the last half was like Christmas giving all sorts of gifts, things we wanted and things we didn't even know we needed, lol.
    Season two would be great, especially if it ended with Obi-Wan facing off against Maul. I'd still like to see Darth Vader. He and Obi-Wan wouldn't have to meet again, and they shouldn't. I'd just want to see where they both are story-wise.

    Killing Vader might have saved a lot of lives…but just like no one is strong enough to replace Vader, Vader is the only person who had any chance to kill Palpatine. It’s like in The Lord of the Rings, where the pity of Bilbo and Frodo in not killing Gollum actually resulted in Gollum being the cause of the destruction of the Ring. Obi Wan not killing Vader leads to Luke redeeming Vader and Vader tossing Palpatine down the shaft.

    I have to say, for all that I loved much of what was in here, I can’t help but feel like Vader and Obi-wan facing off in A New Hope is less impactful after this finale. The “I killed Anakin” line neatly validates Obi-wan telling Luke Vader killed his dad in IV, but Vader telling Obi-wan that the last time they met he was the student and now he is the master, rings a little hollow to me now that the last time they met wasn’t in the form of Anakin, but in full Vader mode.

    The thing I'd say with Obi Wan not killing Vader goes with what she said. If Vader dies, someone will replace him, and as you said no one is as strong as Vader. The flip side of that though is no one is as strong as Vader, who's comparable in strength to Palpatine. If Obi Wan kills Vader, then there's no one that could help Luke kill the emperor, so while killing Vader may have saved more people in the short term, it could of killed more in the long term.

    • @NerdyNightly
      @NerdyNightly  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NerdyNightly Oh for sure, it's definitely a situation of the lesser of two evils. Another way to look at it is, Obi Wan not killing Vader is what kept Luke from the dark side as well. Luke fought very much like Anakin and in that final fight, used his anger to help defeat Vader. If the emperor found him and Vader wasn't there to help keep Luke on the light side....that could of potentially have been even worse.

  • @jmhaces
    @jmhaces 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    That's actually a pretty good point. If Obi-Wan had made sure to kill Vader in Mustafar or here, then Palpatine would of course have had a different Sith Apprentice, and one that would almost certainly have been just as bad if not worse (though maybe not as powerful) and who would've have had no reason to turn on him to save Luke. I mean, Palpatine is hardly the guy to say, "Well, that one plan about having a Sith Lord as my right hand man didn't pan out because his former Jedi Master killed him. I guess I'll just go home and not bother with the whole Sith thing anymore, and just focus on running my Empire. That's enough to keep me busy." We've seen him replace his apprentices time and again, after all. He did it with Maul, he did it with Dooku, and he tried to do it with Vader by tempting Luke.

    I find it amusing that both Obi wan, and Luke before him, can only win against Vader by giving in to the Dark side. You might argue that thinking of his loved ones gave him strength, but I disagree. I highly doubt he was thinking loving thoughts has he beat Vaders ass. More like, fear of losing his loved ones and lots of anger.
    Also, why did he think of Leia? He probably has a stronger relationship with his mutant camel. He loves that camel. Then Luke. Then maybe Yoda. His lightsaber? That thing is his life.

      Leia and Luke represent the future of the galaxy & the will of the force. By attuning himself to both, Obi Wan got a much stronger connection to the Force than he'd ever had before, which is why his power level took a noticeable jump.

      There's a difference between a fierce determination to stop an evil and giving in to evil.
      "Many of the truths we cling to depend greatly upon our point of view."
      Many people mock that line, but it's a pretty clear statement of how reality has to work to make the same action good or evil depending on the circumstances and/or intent.

    When Vader says **"I am not your failure"** , his face is covered in blue light as if Anakin Is accepting the apology from Obi wan . Then his face turns red , when Vader returns with darkness . This was so symbolising in a way that even though He's Darth Vader there's is still some Anakin left in him only those who really know him can take out .(Another instance Ashoka ) and Finally Master Qwai Gon for 5secs after two and a half decades
    Overally what a great short series which greatly connects the events , also keeping the characters comically accurate . I will be not mad or sad if we don't get a season 2 .

    I really liked the last two episodes. Was cool to see you react to it. That Vader fight was amazing. I still don’t like the Reva character. I find it so hard to believe that Vader would try to kill her and fail, twice. And I don’t think Obi-Wan would let Reva live knowing what she knows about Luke. She’s not stable and only poses a threat to Luke. Before anyone freaks out, I’m not commenting on the Actress. She did what she could. I think they just did a bad job of writing and developing the Reva character.

    QUESTION: do you think the narrative would have been better served as a film? There's only 3-4 hours of material in it (and already multiple fan editors working on various edits).
    I think a feature length could have been more evenly paced and not had to accommodate for weekly plot points and cliffhangers.

    Reva kills the pilot that is escaping the fortress in episode 4. She cuts of an innocent woman's hand in episode 1, is about to torture a child, and I'm sure there are other examples. She is not good.

    I think there is a mistake in the statement that Obiwan didn't kill Vader because it is the Jedi way unlike Anakin killing Dooku. Obiwan loves that much Anakin that he rejects the jedi way because of his fellings; not even with Satine he surrendered to his feelings, that tells you how much he loved Anakin.

    Great reaction - got a new subscriber. You seem to have a similar take to me on the show as it has annoyed me how some others have reacted badly after only part of the story was told until waiting for the completion. There are also those who will pour on hate either to get clicks or won't like anything with KK's name attached. Don't get me wrong, I hate the sequels with a passion but only for what they did to the Skywalker legacy......oh and they were BADLY written!

    Watched a few of these reactions. When it comes to the Anakin and.Obiwan scene where Obi-Wan sees Anakin. They get quiet and at times tearful. One of the most emotional scenes in Star Wars. This series has had some questionable writing in prior episodes. This one and Episode 5 was well done.

    I’m glad they allowed obi to apologise to anakin (regardless of anakin not realising why he’s apologising) since he allowed him to be seduced by the dark side by not listening to him. Really need a Star Wars what if so we can see what would happen if maul killed obi instead
