watched all the previews only to find the songs that stayed with me were gone. When the show closed I raided the costumes and took home the cape Crawford wore and a few of the candle props. I remember standing on that stage thinking, how did this go so wrong. The Stuttgart version was the best and should have been imported with supertitle translation
@JanaGrey Mandy recently took over the part of Elphaba in Wicked on Broadway. She also played the part of Amneris in Aida, which was her Broadway debut!
You're mistaken here. Tanz der Vampire has been produced in Wienna in 1997. From there it eventually got to Boadway. So here you have a german Production that went to America, not the other way around. They fucked the story up at broadway and made its main character a bufoon. No wonder it was a flop. Look at vritually everywhere else on the world, where they didn't do that. It is succesful everywhere. "Don't touch a running system". An adivce they would have been adviced to take. You can change out the costumes and this story still works. Imagine the phantom as a guy reduced to a bad, very poor parody. Nobody would want to see that either!
@JanaGrey Das ist definitiv Mandy ! .... ich hab die Inzinierung am Broadway gesehn und in einem Dinner Theater in Seattle und fand beide echt schlecht. Amerikanischer Kitsch mehr war es nicht. Natuerlich haben alle Saegner Stimmen zum sterben und alle Taenzer sind schon fast ueberqualifiziert aber das ist eben Amerika, Broadway und seine Musicals ....
