- Chinese President Xi Jinping hosted Arab leaders in Beijing as he sought to make diplomatic gains in the region that close ties with the US. China seeks to strengthen its ties with Arab states as a model for maintaining world peace and stability, Xi said at China-Arab States Cooperation Forum. Xi told the Arab leaders China wants to work with them to “explore ways to resolve hotspot issues”. The Chinese leader called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, stressing on the two-state solution to Palestine-Israel issue. Experts say China is likely attempting to win new allies in its global contest for influence with the US by expanding footprints in the Middle East.
