- Two key advisers to Donald Trump have presented him with a plan to end Russia's war in Ukraine if he wins the presidential election in Nov. 2024. According to a Reuters report, the plan also involves telling Ukraine it will only get more US weapons if it enters into peace talks. The US would at the same time warn Moscow that any refusal to negotiate would result in increased US support for Ukraine, retired Lt. General Keith Kellogg said. Putin’s logic has a disconnect.
On the one hand he says that any peace negotiations with Russia must reflect the realities on the ground - which is completely logical.
But on the other hand, he says that Ukraine must withdraw completely from the partially occupied oblasts of Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk and Luhansk - including from the 2 major cities of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia, both of which are currently in Ukrainian hands.
One “reality on the ground’ is that the Russian army wasn’t strong enough to hold onto the city of Kherson (lost it in 2023 after taking it in 2022). The other “reality on the ground” is that the Russian army has never managed to take the city of Zaporizhzhia.
So it’s not logical for Putin to expect Ukraine to acknowledge “the realities on the ground” when Putin isn’t prepared to acknowledge those realities himself.
Any ceasefire agreement between Russia and Ukraine must be based on respecting the position of the current front line - no matter where it lies.
If Putin wants the cities of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia, he’s going to have to take them by military force, before any ceasefire goes into effect.

Let's imagine both parties started negotiations but didn't reach an agreement. What's then? If the US sacks Ukraine, it will be a win for Russia. If the US arms Ukraine to the teeth, which has only few left, then China and other countries will start arming Russia too. Russia has more men to hold the weapons than Ukraine.
Secondly, arming Ukraine may trigger a nuclear act on Ukraine close to European borders which will cut the aid route to Ukraine by land.
Anyway, the only option for Ukraine is, before sacrificing all of their men, is to concede with Russia.
Then Ukraine will cease to exist and European countries will become RuZZian republics. Putin won't stop if he wins in Ukraine.

Let's break it down. Russia has taken a substantial amount of land so far even with staunt american aid, we are talking about 3 to 4 oblasts now.
And with utmost respect to Ukraine, they can't win this war, truthfully. They are sadly outmatched on almost every military stat, from man power to air superiority (even with f16s in the mix), missiles and more.
It would be in their kind interest to settle for peace as soon as yesterday or else Russia will just keep taking more land even with more American aid with just the west of ukraine left for the taking.

Russia isn’t winning, the fighting on the ground is a stalemate. That’s why Putin is trying to get Ukraine to give up the cities of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia as part of a ceasefire agreement, instead of simply taking them by military force as he did with Bakhmut.

@@Bigzillar The Ukrainians have two limitations no air power (thats a big one). to counter the Russians air power and they are limited on strikes over the border. We have been giving them a few left over outdated weapons systems and the successes they have had with them is amazing considering they have no air cover. We have much better weapons than what we have been giving the Ukrainians. If America came into the war the russians would be dead or out of Ukraine in less than a week and putin knows it. The usa air force would tear them up. see what happened in Syria when Wagner tried to take a few American special forces.
Well if you haven't been paying attention Ukraine doesn't need a navy to beat russians navy.. And the reason why russia was advancing is because ukraine for 2 years was not allowed to strike russian infastructure while russia could level entire Ukrainian cities.

In February 2022 Putin's peace proposal was rejected, although it had no territoral demands. This is no longer reality.
I totally agree with Putin's latest (=most recent) peace proposal with:
- giving 4 oblasti;
- ruling out Ukraine's membership of NATO forever,
as one of the demands.
Trump doesn't demand Ukraine to surrender 4 oblasti, nor is he opposed to it. He wants to delay Ukraine's NATO membership.

Putin’s logic has a disconnect.
On the one hand he says that any peace negotiations with Russia must reflect the realities on the ground - which is completely logical.
But on the other hand, he says that Ukraine must withdraw completely from the partially occupied oblasts of Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk and Luhansk - including from the 2 major cities of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia, both of which are currently in Ukrainian hands.
One “reality on the ground’ is that the Russian army wasn’t strong enough to hold onto the city of Kherson (lost it in 2023 after taking it in 2022). The other “reality on the ground” is that the Russian army has never managed to take the city of Zaporizhzhia.
So it’s not logical for Putin to expect Ukraine to acknowledge “the realities on the ground” when Putin isn’t prepared to acknowledge those realities himself.
Any ceasefire agreement between Russia and Ukraine must be based on respecting the position of the current front line - no matter where it lies.
If Putin wants the cities of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia, he’s going to have to take them by military force before any ceasefire goes into effect.
