Barry Wilson, in this thread, saw Led Zeppelin play their only concert in New Zealand in 1972. I was there too! I was just 50 feet from the stage, and it was LOUD! Mindblowing - best rock concert ever, and I've been to a lot! I remember they played all of Led Zeppelin 4, and released it in NZ the following day, so we were all hearing Stairway to Heaven for the first time, live. Magical.

I first heard Led Zeppelin in 1972 I was 14.
I don’t care what anyone says or thinks, there will never be a band or musician that will make such an impact on a generation that Led Zeppelin did and still does!
I say this with the greatest respect for all those that contended with them and all those that came after them. Simply for their contribution to contemporary music.
They will never be unthroned !

I totally agree, I really wish before we lose any others, along with Jason they’d get together & do some touring. It doesn’t need to be as hard a touring, shorter concerts, & not night after night. Having Jason as the fourth band member, is as close to the original we’d ever get. Sadly I don’t think it will happen, but that’s my wish.

The biggest respect I have for Led Zeppelin (other than disbanding after John’s death) is the fact all these years later not one of them have written a ‘tell all’ book. Of all the interviews they still maintain a bit mysterious. The loss of John is the one devastating event that affected them deeply.
I just love Zeppelin & to me will always be the band on a sphere of their own 🙌🏻

Quite agree with you. They respect each over, respect their band their audience. Beautiful persons. I admire and love them. They had
" something". That's why their music keeps being so actual, continues yo passionate people , including me of course. Listen to them many times a week. Feel close to them like as they were friends. I can't explain this affinity. It's more than music. It's a kind of magic through the ages.
      Moreover, they were so handsome.

Absolutely respectable the way they carried themselves after the loss of Bonham. They knew how essential he was for the band and were not going to even think about trying to fill his spot or replicate it. That kinda chemistry they had between each other was one in a million. Truly the best band to ever exist.

I fully agree they could not carry on as Zeppelin with John gone. I hated when The Who tried to replace Moon, then even more when they replaced Entwhistle! It just felt like a cheap money grab without showing respect for the original band members!

I left out, wrote many lyrics himself or with Plant, as well as the music & his amazing riffs.

How insane would be to be in a revolutionary band that ruled the world for a decade and when it was over all the members new they can never go back to it they could never top it are even be as good as it ounce was never again will they be able to have a group of people that create magic everytime there on stage to and to know you will never be able to be that great again it would seriously be insane they never broke up like the Beatles who just decided to break up they were forced be a huge part was gone it would seriously be incredibly hard to deal with i mean simply they were led zeppelin probably the only band that ever can be compared to the Beatles for the massive effect they had on culture honestly i don't know if i could handle something like that 😮

    • @sharkfintech5893

Great points 👍🏻 The Led Zep breakup seemed to negatively impact Page the most, IMO. Jonesy simply went back to what he did prior to LZ - being an awesome, in-demand studio/session musician - and Plant had already considered leaving LZ after his son Karac tragically passed away in 1977.
Other than producing LZ's "Coda" and the soundtrack for "Death Wish II", Page seemed to wallow in his emotions & addictions for much of the '80s.
Jimmy may never admit it publicly, but I believe he felt at least some personal responsibility for Bonham's passing: While Bonzo was a grown man who made his own (bad) decision to consume so much alcohol, LZ was always Page's band/project, and the tragedy occurred in HIS house.
Add to that, given all the fans' & music press' awareness of Page's keen interest in the occult/black magic, speculation and rumors soon began swirling about the band being cursed, having "sold their souls" for fame & fortune, etc. Much of this still persists today.
I was SO glad to see Jimmy come back strong in the '90s -- not just seemingly clean & sober, but with that "Page passion" for making music, that had been the driving force of Zeppelin. 🙌🏻

    • @sicotshit7068

@@sharkfintech5893I agree, Page needs to play as much as he needs to breath, I think work wise he did get the short end. I don’t in anyway believe the crap about Page & satanism, just because someone reads etc. about it doesn’t mean anything. I read the Aleister Crowley book, & buying his house, it was a beautiful home. The night Bonham passed away, they were all staying at Pages place, I wondered if they all carried guilty. Bonham was an adult, & they didn’t force him to drink all that, but I’m sure they all think if we did this or that. My understanding, it was JPJ that found him the next morning.

This is Excellent -- thank U for posting !! 😃👍🏻
While it appears to be about 20 years old, and may not shed tons of new light for Zep-heads like me, it's a terrific compilation of interviews with the surviving LZ band members over the years, and a summation of their careers since LZ's breakup (up to 2003) -- all tying back to what made them so great together.
It's also sweet seeing Jason Bonham's life & career progression from the '80s to the '00s. ❤ 🥁
The timing is perfect for me: Just when I was getting tired (and frankly, a bit bored) of Led Zep "documentaries" here on TH-cam that don't involve the band members, and/or worse, highlight little if any actual LZ music (prob because they're unsanctioned relative garbage, with no licensing/copy rights 😩🤣) -- along comes this gem 💎

Led Zeppelin was the BEST band of it's era, HOWEVER, the sad reality is, even a brilliant band with such magnitude could NOT make it in today's awful world. there just wouldn't be a big enough demographic fan base for a great group like that anymore to help move them forward like in that era, and for the loyalist's they'd all be singled out and called racist's, just like some of the blues musicians of the past tried their hardest to take credit for Jimmy Page's style like if he were Keith Richards, what a joke, everyone trying to ride the wave. I guess what some might say to be true is, there is a time and a place for everything. Just like Led Zeppelin was put to rest such a long time ago so are their fans being laid out and put to rest in today's shithole world... I'll quote Mr. George Harrison, "All things must pass"

See the shit drugs and alcohol cause?...Bonham's personal problems destroyed the lives of literally thousands of people in their immediate surroundings...Suddenly everyone is scrabbling to survive, looking for work, losing their homes, having to find themselves all over again,etc...Not to mention the grief and sadness dying from addiction causes everyone...

I'm certainly no "Swiftie", but give her half an ounce of credit: At least Taylor is a real musician, who doesn't seem to use Autotunes, writes her own songs, & plays guitar 🎸
That's more than one can say for Bieber, One Direction, and so many other current big acts. I just don't happen to love her music (a few songs are OK) and, TBF, I'm not in her audience demographic (I'm a guy in my 50s) 😅

At least plant admitted to stealing. Page never owned up to it. Jimmy's death wish soundtrack is brilliant 👍🏻 the film was good, byt the first death wish 74 was brilliant, my favourite film. And if course Jimmy still, blames Phil..lol..
Smh.. bloody hell man, get over it. And Jimmy's guitar, doesn't he tune his own guitar? Live aid was alright.
