Purchased the Rad Runner Plus about a month ago. Very pleased! It's replaced my car as my daily commuter. Really solid range & power on pedal-assist 3. I ditched the passenger seat in place of a child seat, and it's been such a fun way to get out and explore with my kids. Great review!
I've had my RadRunnerPLUS for about 8 months and I've gotten rid of my other bikes. This thing is a go anywhere-do pretty much anything bike. I do trail riding, road riding, urban touring...I mean, this is one capable eBike. I've climbed hills, ran through flooded trails, lots of off road riding in dirt, sand, mud, gravel...it's really like a small motorcycle more so than a bicycle. I can't recommend it enough. It's not cheap...but it's also built like a tank and I've had ZERO issues with mine. Super easy to adjust and maintain. GET ONE ALREADY!!!!

I own the Radrunner 1 and its definitely weak on power. I had to upgrade my controller to a 35A version and that made all the difference. I went from 750W to 1600W! Now I can make it up most hills with a passenger on throttle only. My bike is a single speed though. Nicely done video, I appreciate the high production value.

I purchased the Rad Runner Plus as a Xmas present for my son. I got a $100 off the $1899.99, to $1799.99, also got 1 of the accessories for 50% off, so I got a great deal. He's visiting my mom during Xmas, and the bike is still in the box. Lol. But we did test ride it twice at Rad Power Bikes here in San Diego, and it's so much fun. Appreciate the detailed breakdown, Pierce. 👍 Thanks for the heads up on the ergonomics of the bike. People who know what they like or don’t like will know from those descriptions whether the bike is for them. I really love the moped-style e-bikes, but haven’t come across one where it’s optimized for my wants & needs yet.I know I’ll have to pay more for it, but I’d love to have a bike that looks like the RadRunner Plus, but has an Enviolo internal hub w/ a Gates carbon belt drive.
I have a commute up a hill like the hell hole hill and that is indeed the same setup i want despite this Rad Runner being mostly able. Something that can do that run with 50% battery in minus thirty degree temps and fat tires for snow... This looks really good though until that "perfect" option is available.
Pierce, Nice detail, appreciate all of the testing data. I just purchased a RadRunner + myself and I'll be reviewing it as well. I'm impressed with the build generally but I did not get anywhere near that insane low PAS range, WOW! I am finding the passenger capability a bit overblown as the few people I have tried riding with, felt the room and footpegs were really awkward and wanted off in a few blocks. A rear pannier rail would be a welcome feature. I also got the center console, which I think was a bit of a mistake as I will be taking it off today. Cheers!
@@MoPoppins Sorry for my delay, the comments on another channel always come up differently. The two holders on top of the console don't fit many phones or cups, and the bungies to hold the lid on are tough to use, especially the one under the seat. The biggest issue is I can barely stand over the console with a 32" inseam, so if you had a passenger and the console, it could be an issue. Interior size is just ok. If I kept it on the bike I'd use it with the lid off. I think the front basket would be a better option.
My friend, please tell us how you really feel about the hill climb throttle test. I really like your detailed reviews but you always say every ebike hill climb is impressive. But I am appreciative that you put the time and average speed on the hill climbs. Keep up the good work.

By watching pedaling cadence from the drone shots (the 2nd hill climb), it looks like it would have been easier on both motor and rider to have shifted into a lower gear - or was the rider already in the lowest gear? He only gave the pedal assist level of '5.'

Hi there) thank you for posting this video. I've got Rad Runner power bike 1 and accidentally lost the key from the battery. Do you know if it's possible to order an extra key from the website?
i have a freego electric bike 20in x 2in wheels folding and 250w motor with 36v 10.4ah battery and it does pretty much what your bike does, the only difference is throttle only up hill does not match your bike hence the 250w motor.made in the uk its a great bike for just about anything.
For the future videos, can you yall please tell the viewers your hight and weight. Just so we can get an idea of how the bikes performance is with that rider.
Just sucks that the weight limit is 300lbs....I am 294 lbs and I have no idea how much it would help. Only thinking of getting one because of rising gas prices
Right? I feel like it could handle more weight. It's likely the bike can handle a slightly higher weight than what they say is the weight limit to avoid legal trouble. I wouldn't be shocked if it can actually handle 325lbs. Though, inevitably, that's more strain on the bike, less safe, and will hurt performance. Do it at your own risk. But considering your below their weight limit, I don't think it's a huge risk.
What they should have done with this Evike they should have made a retractable plug in cord do charge in any Outlet and they should have made the cord just a tad bit longer if I was to do something like that right now I better get back to this
I have 1 radcity , 1 rad runner plus and 1 Igo fat tire bike , in canada you're only allowed to sell max 500w motor only and i find both my rad power bikes to be lacking power compared to my Igo basically they feel way underpowered specially climbing a hill. I think radrover are selling their bikes with peak 500w which means their motors might be 350w , because Igo having the same motor climbs hills without any pedal at all.
@@tolokovma I actually watched a video today of someone using their rad E bike in the Canadian winter and he had a good report. I don’t have the link because I’ve been looking at a lot of rad videos today but it was very interesting.

Would be great if the reviewer could let us know his weight. He looks to be around 150 pounds. I'm 200 lbs and my bike needs me as much as I need it to go up these hills. Without my help, the bike stops dead in its tracks. RAD needs to either upgrade the motor to 1000 + watts or add a second battery and a front hub motor bringing total wattage up to 1,500 watts. Now you could easily take two people along for the ride.
I want to order one in Europe but they are out of stock, i might have to go with Rad Wagon instead.. Really like the looks of Runner Plus, and it's accessories match my needs. Welp, i might wait few weeks and then decide, but it's a bit dissappointing that they have half of their things out of stock atm.
We purchased this Vivi 27.5” electric bike and a Tentaquil 26” electric bike for our 13 and 14 year olds. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxUiL0GnyDjP32RJdd660sP8mZk4CRLTCJ The Vivi was much easier to put together. With the Vivi, there was a video link to assist with assembly which made the process easier to follow (we did put the handlebars on upside down, but it was a quick and easy fix). With the Tentaquil, the assembly was not as simple to follow, but after we messaged the company for an assembly video, it was easier and they did respond quickly. The other major differences were that the Vivi has a grip throttle on the right handle (like a motorcycle) and the Tentaquil has a push throttle that you use your thumb to activate. The monitors were also different, so if you’re looking for something specific in terms of changing the bikes functions, pay attention to what the monitor offers. We were really impressed with the overall quality and functionality of both bikes, but if you’re looking for more power and an easier assembly, definitely go with the Vivi!
I wish I had the money I'll buy one in the have a some kind of Basket in the back where you can carry stuff on my groceries or whatever you need to carry that pretty heavy I would like to have that too but I don't have that kind of money to get one right now
I found the Rad seat provided to be uncomfortable. I replaced the drivers seat and post. I then removed the passenger bench seat, laid in a few pieces of foam pipe insulation to protect the frame and secured a milk case to the rear with medium duty wire ties. Make sure the milk case is moved to the rear somewhat to allow clearance for your backside. I then installed the Rad metal front basket and covered it with motorcycle stretch mesh cargo cover that has perimeter hooks to secure the groceries. After the cargo mods the darn thing holds much more then my Harleys leather saddlebags. Why remove all that Rad + hardware rather than just buy the stripped down Runner? The Rad Plus front suspension and multi speed pedal option, that’s why.
Thanks for watching, Norman! We always include a link in the description to current pricing. www.ebrdeals.com/ebrYT-Rad_runnerplus Prices often change which is why we don't mention them in the review.
To be honest, I am very disappointed in Rad Power Bikes. I had been planning to buy these bikes for a very long time. I also called yesterday, and spoke to your sales rep, who said that you guys won’t even ship parts out here to Hawaii. Do you realize that we are part of the United States too? I understand that there are restrictions on lithium ion batteries, I get that. But you can’t even ship parts here if I did have one? Maybe there needs to be a way to ship the bike, and parts and then send the Lithium iOn batteries via surface separately. I went down to my local bike shop and dropped $12k on 4 Giant E Bikes instead because they actually wanted my business. Rad Power Bikes, pull your head out of the sand and realize that Alaska and Hawaii exist too. Maybe it's time for us to stop doing business with Washington residents too. I am pissed off. Aloha
After removing the passenger seat I turned the front rack from the intended perpendicular front mount to parallel on the back and drilled only two holes using two of the factory pre-drilled holes seat holes. Allows me to get thru doorways easier.
Good luck if you need parts. The tiny parts are not available. You have to purchase a larger piece of the bike as they don’t stock the tiny parts from China. 💸💸💸💸💸

I like the rad runner plus..I don't have kids and my wife would add to much to the weight capacity. Other than that I would use the rear for a rad basket and also adding a front rack with basket
Hi there) thank you for posting this video. I've got Rad Runner power bike 1 and accidentally lost the key from the battery. Do you know if it's possible to order an extra key from the website?
Yes you can, on your battery you have a battery key code so you can get the right replacement
How to get this us version in France thé 250 w version surely cant climb thé big hill i havé to go to work
In UK we only allowed 250W motor, will only push you very little on uphill.
Is the passenger seat removable? Is it possible to add panniers on the side? Thank you.
Yes and Yes
how come the one in my area is 500w?
Is it really that loud? Or was that just because of camera placement?
i have a freego electric bike 20in x 2in wheels folding and 250w motor with 36v 10.4ah battery and it does pretty much what your bike does, the only difference is throttle only up hill does not match your bike hence the 250w motor.made in the uk its a great bike for just about anything.
Remember you can’t replace the tires with anything but rad tires and they are rarely in stock
What is the fastest utility type bike that you’ve tested on this hill?
When you are climbing the hill what level of assist are you using?
Level 1,2,3,4,5 ?
Always in max assist. So level 5 in this case.
For the future videos, can you yall please tell the viewers your hight and weight. Just so we can get an idea of how the bikes performance is with that rider.
Appreciate it so much I even just got one for myself aswell
Any idea if they plan on adding more colors to the Radrunner plus?
We haven't heard anything about different colors yet.
How much do they cost
We leave a link in the video description for up-to-date pricing since they sometimes change.
Just sucks that the weight limit is 300lbs....I am 294 lbs and I have no idea how much it would help. Only thinking of getting one because of rising gas prices
With where gas prices are likely headed I think more e-bikes for everybody is a good call.
Run first and lose weight
You can lose weight on an e-bike too 🤷
Can you use it in the winter? I'm want to buy one to use in Moncton but the winter is coming
@@tolokovma I actually watched a video today of someone using their rad E bike in the Canadian winter and he had a good report. I don’t have the link because I’ve been looking at a lot of rad videos today but it was very interesting.
@@tolokovma yes but you'll have to air down the tires in snow . I owned a voltbike fat tire bicycle and i rode it around the entire winter last year
@@savemankind738 oh, ok! Thanks for the tip! And the batery works well? Drain faster or any issue?
@@tolokovma i took my bicycle to work and always took my battery inside and considering the fact I never left the battery on the bicycle in cold weather i hardly noticed any battery sag or loss of battery power compared to summer riding
it would be nice if there was a motor on the front wheel too.
Not sure Rad would ever do it, but it would be interesting.
Excellent review very well delivered
Thank you kindly!
Love my tricked out Rad.
The theme of 2021 in e-bikes, sadly, is parts shortages and more that have lead to inventory issues. Hopefully they get some in stock soon!
How tall are you?
6'
@@ElectricBikeReport Thanks ✌😊
A very good product it's amazing
I love amazon thank you
10MPH...one might as well walk and in the UK these only come in with 250W motors - ridiculous for the price
good review
Thanks!
Good review…how much $…stay safe…
Thanks for watching, Norman! We always include a link in the description to current pricing. www.ebrdeals.com/ebrYT-Rad_runnerplus
Prices often change which is why we don't mention them in the review.
What was the combined weight of you and your boyfriend?
If you're going to be carrying two people you should have two batteries two motors Imo.
The option would be nice, but I think more often than not the 2nd passenger is likely to be a smaller child anyway.
Take my money
wow it can carry 2 people. sweet. i am 2 people
1:06 / 20:13 😂
I hate mirrors < stuff in my way ( kinda ) But i saw some technology / Rearview cam's/ price started at 50$ EBay Must brother
Aloha
We lived in pahoa and know what you are talking about
After removing the passenger seat I turned the front rack from the intended perpendicular front mount to parallel on the back and drilled only two holes using two of the factory pre-drilled holes seat holes. Allows me to get thru doorways easier.
Good luck if you need parts. The tiny parts are not available. You have to purchase a larger piece of the bike as they don’t stock the tiny parts from China. 💸💸💸💸💸
Hmm. Not impressed. You put a guy over 200 lbs on that and it would have konked out.
For what it's worth, half of our reviewers in the Electric Bike Report office are over 200 lbs and have extensively rode it with no issues of the bike konking out.
@@ElectricBikeReport Well guy I work with has the rad rover 5 and is around 250 lbs.Granted it is last years version but when he rides red rock 13 mile scenic look the first 5 miles is all uphill and he needs to put it in pas 5 for most of the first 5 miles and it really taxes his battery that he wasn’t able to finish the 13 mile loop.To each his own I guess. Lots of choices out there nowadays in that $2000 and under range that offer much better performance.
@@360woodierc, I took my Rad Runner 1 to the Red Rock Overlook, from my house (Charleston and Cimmaron), a few weeks ago. I have the upgraded display and 35A controller, it makes a huge difference in torque! I like to pedal, and the highest assist level I used was PAS-3. The Runner 1 is a single speed. I installed a 2nd battery (48v 12AH), I used that one for the trip, but had my RAD battery on the bike too.
I only needed the smaller 12AH battery for the round trip. I just bought a older Rad Rover a couple days ago, I plan on getting the upgraded display and controller for it at some point too; but it’s pretty fun as it is! I’m about 235lbs. I’ve done the 13 mile loop on my Bafang 48v 750w mid drive equipped bike a few times, I’ve had over 80% battery life left using PAS 2-3!
@@tripzuki7462 👍🏼 the red rock loop is a nice enjoyable ride.I’ve done it twice on my lectric xp. I usually park past the entrance up a little further at the overlook. Then ride back to the entrance and through the loop. After the ride and back to my car my battery reads 48-49 volts which on my lectric is about 40-45% battery left. I once rode from my house in centennial hills to the first lodge at mt.Charleston.It was a steady uphill grade the whole ride and about 18 miles and I was in pas 2 for most of the ride up to conserve battery but then switched to pas 3 maybe for 2 or 3 miles because it was taking so long.On the way back it was all down hill so i didn’t use any power at all except when I was heading my up hill ride to my house. It was about a 38 mile ride and about 2 1/2 hours long. My battery was dead when I pulled into my drive way. Forgot to say I weighed then 175 lbs.
@@360woodierc, Nice!! I once rode my 48v 750w converted mid drive hybrid bike from my house, all the way to the hwy 160, by way of Red Rock. I only used a maximum of PAS-1 for the entire round trip. When I pulled into my garage it showed over 42 miles and 58% battery remaining! I was well over 280lbs then! 48v 12AH battery.
I want to ride the River Mountain Loop at some point!
That thing sucks uphill
Really ? 😥
All of Rad ebikes are are shitty with mechanical brakes. I’ll rather get an Ariel Grizzly with dual 52V batteries, suspension, and 1000W motors that peaks at 2000W. Not to mention that the Grizzly has metal gears ⚙️ The Grizzly is just a different kind of animal on a higher level as far as ebikes. Rad is a junk company.
Wow, you think a $4000 bike does more than a $2000 one?
How do you make it a class 3 bike - do I have to talk to the company before placing the order?
