I built my ebike myself off a 90s mountain bike. It travels 100km and tops out at 52kmh Battery was $250 Canadian and motor kit was $150 Canadian. The bike preforms amazing been using it everyday for 12 months now.
@@thezs5 I bought the ebike parts on eBay. 48v 1000w ebike kit. I went for the cheapest one. Battery I also got off eBay, 48v 20ah wrapped no housing battery (cheaper), I bought a bicycle battery bag instead.
Great review as always Micah. Rad has always been the leader in the budget friendly ebike market but with so many new brands in the same space it looks like they want to go after a higher end ebike customer. Some where in between their current market and the space brands like Riese and Muller occupy, think specialized gobal gt. I would also say the price for this bike is still valuable as I have heard Rad provides great support for their bike and are well designed. I have ebikes from other manufacturers and when anything goes wrong I'm out of luck no bike repair shop wants to service them. So that premium is for a piece of mind which may not be for everyone but to some people it's worth it.
RadPowers customer service is absolute trash. I haven’t personally had a problem with mine, but there is a lot of evidence of people’s experiences with their customer support experiences
the Regular runner NEEDS a hanger to add on a derailer . but Rad taking away the Upgradability to class 3 makes it a No Deal for me . i LOVE passing these up on the road . Respect to RAD tho . they are OG
I think that any review of a Rad bike these days is incomplete without addressing the issues with quality control and customer support. The internet is full of horror stories of customers being sent broken bikes and not even having their support requests responded to or adequately addressed for 3 or 4 months. Critical parts required to use the bike are often out of stock for months and customers are usually getting stuck in email reply response purgatory as they've stopped taking customer support calls it seems. The company is definitely not what it was in 2019-2020.
They 100% revamped their customer service this last year, and have live chat and phone support as well as more people for general part sales and support.
Why are they releasing new bikes when they can’t back the warranties of existing product lines. People have broken bikes sitting in garages for months on end waiting for parts from rad. So glad I didn’t buy from them.
Pretty nice bike for someone who only wants a class 2 cargo e-bike, but this is at least $600 more expensive than it should, if this is $1500, it would be a good value.
$2300? No. I paid $2100 for a dual battery lectrec expedition - class 3 with much more range and functionality. It was delivered in 2 days and came with a free passenger seat, running boards and seat pads. I had a rad rover before the ebike craze and it literally fell apart - l am sure they are better made now but won't see any more of my $. Great review tho!
Still expensive, velotric packer 1 is $1700(free shipping), although it can only go 25 mph, but it has front suspension, Xpedition doesn’t, also packer 1 has both UL certifications. For a cargo bike, velotric packer 1 is my choice.
I question a review from a competitor of E.Bikes. Today I was trying to contact Rad bikes in Seattle and the phone number given was Electric Bike. It’s seems like the competition is trying to Poach some business for themselves. I don’t care either way but think twice before letting a snake bite me.
Because moped style bikes have long bench saddles like the kind created by lowering the seat on the Radrunner down with the passenger package. So as I explained, you can create a moped style seat, or you can raise it up for better pedaling comfort.

Did you make a video?
would you share some insights for others who like to go the same? Where to get parts, do’s and don’ts, etc.?

I'm glad I got my Gazelle NLc8 before they stopped selling them in the USA. $2,500 mid-drive with bosch performance line motor.

The price of this bike is pretty ridiculous.
Excellent review. I enjoy your balanced coverage of plus and minuses.
Seems to me, that this is a higher profit margin to pay for some expenses they have incurred here lately.

Be honest with me here is that really serious with the war Warranty issue that's what is scaring me just explain please what's going on
Taller rider designs? Or getting close to manufacturing a needed market (taller rider bikes we need them)

Why even compere the sadel with moped styled bikes when Rad isn't a moped styled bike.

the runner Is a moped style ebike tho . its really Rad's 1st offering for that niche . if you google image search ,that's what i find
You couldn't pay me to buy another rad bicycle...
I'm curious why is that what happened to you
Too expensive
