Any time I have a problem figuring out a song... I come to your site Marty. I've checked out others however, I appreciate how you take the time and I'm able to pause your video's while I practice what I've just learned. I'm not a beginner, I've been playing for 55 years however, plateaus that I've hit over the years would curb my enthusiasm and I've actually gone years with only picking up my guitars about once every 6 months. Thanks to your page, I've found renewed interest, play daily and am surprised how quickly I am now picking up songs that I loved in the 70's and 80's but never attempted to play. I do get stumped occasionally on a chord however, a few minutes here and I'm off and running. I've even learned some songs from you that I really enjoyed but never attempted, such as Zeppelins "Rain Song!" Thanks again Marty and never stop... you are my Go to guy when I need help with a song! Good on you Bro!
Thank you Marty! And rip Ric Ocasek! I.m.o...The Cars! No one ever covers thier music because it was and is so unique, the vocals, the keyboards, guitar effects , etc. Tough to do and sound as good as they do. I grew up listening to the Cars loved them in 1979, and still do. The passing of Ric has made for a sad past few days, but hearing his music being played all day long brings back great memories, like in 79 when The Cars came to Vancouver bc, and my 7 friends and i wernt to go see them. The funny thing was my best friend was now with my ex. When the Cars played my best friends girl, my buddy frank sitting next to me, said you gonna go hit him. I said no he can have her. I just sat back and enjoyed the concert. They never lasted.
Awesome Marty. You're another guy I've followed for years and years without subscribing. (you always pop up if you Google how to play anything) So thankyou brother from me everyone else and the Universe for all you do and of course... blessed be.
Thank you for this. Ric is jamming again with Benjamin Orr. Sweet sounds on the night shift. RIP Ric. A lot of your stuff is on the soundtrack of my youth.
Thanks Marty for another great lesson. I’ve learned so much songs from you. FYI for all you millennials. This classic Cars song, Just What I Needed, was sang and written by Ben Orr, the bass player for the Cars. RIP to both Ric Ocasek and Ben Orr.
New sub. I found your channel soon after Ocasek passed away because I saw an article calling The Cars, "new wave." They may have started out that way, but they quickly became one of the top innovators (creators?) in what people now refer to as "Pop/Punk." I always knew the basics to this one, but that solo is a beast. The entire tutorial is paced perfectly, and I would definitely recommend the solo portion to anyone who wanted to learn how to effectively bend a half or whole step on the guitar. Placement and hand to hand coordination are only half the battle. The chords are relatively simple, but that solo requires finesse. I think the band would be proud. Anyway that's enough of my sentimental ranting for one evening. Going to check out some more of your vids before I have to hit the hay. Thanks, Marty! 🔥🔥🔥
I love the cars, but I highly recommend giving the ink spots a try, I'm trying to learn "Maybe" and my hands are so cramped. I'd love to see you do it.
It is crazy hiw most of us , myself included, have to really pay attention to the chords and the changing of the chirds, our finger placement, etc,,,, and Rick plays this stuff like he can do it in his sleep.,,, lol,,,,but yet he is not recognized as a great guitarist per say stats,,,,but in my HUMBLE Opinion,,,, He should be recognized as one of the greats. ! 😎✌✝💕💕💕
Could you break down Talking in your sleep by The Romantics? All the songs I’ve been wanting to learn you have literally had them all! Thank you so much 🙏🏽
MARTY! If you could do a tutorial for Shape of my heart by Sting that would be awesome! The other tutorials arent in the Marty Music style... WHICH IS THE BEST STYLE
Love your channel Marty. This is one of my all time favorite tunes and (even though I regularly played ‘my version’ of it at gigs) it really took me a few years to pin this solo down. I think you nailed it note wise, “but”, from any of the cars live performances I have seen, the solo is played down around the 5th fret, ie starting on the B string. Thats the version I play and I find the fingering much easier than starting off up at the 10th fret.
Who is here in 2024? I'm 53 4 years playing taught by #MartyMusic I can't believe I have the skills to learn stuff like this. Dream come True. Never too Late to start playing
Have you heard mark Hoppus’ version? It’s so cool. I did yesterday and thought “I wonder if Marty heard so I can learn the original “ and here you are a day later. Thanks!
Gotta do an Eddie Money tune next! I got a friend that has a solo act where he ONLY plays music from dead musicians... Martin and The Dead Guys!! No joke!! Keith will never die!!!
Hey marty!!! Dude you've helped me do alot of things on guitar I'm not that good yet but hey I'm trying... I was wondering if you could an oldie but a goodie... Tennessee flat top.box by Johnny cash
This is just what I needed
Wish I didn’t laugh as much as I did 😭😭💀💀
Just what I needed!
I see what ya did there
😂😂😂
I needed someone to teach me.. LoL
Absolute TUNE! 🎸
3:59 A true masterpiece if I say so myself
4:22 “oh you’re a real tough cookie with a long history”
exactly what i thought haha
It does sound like it
Great band The Cars, RIP Rick Ocasek
And what a great solo 😱
Don't forget Ben Orr.
Both Ben and Rick.. we lost some amazing Artist losing them.
Elliot plays the solo further down the neck, rockabilly style mostly on the top three strings

My Goodness, I have coincidentally been listening to this song so more frequently now! Definitely my favorite Cars song!
I believe the singer on this was the bassist, Benjamin Orr
Thank you Marty! And rip Ric Ocasek!

Written by Ric, sung by Ben.
Working up .38 Special “caught up in you” & knew this was the tune I was actually looking for. Thanks. Both tunes are great!

Telepathy does work. After hearing sad news about Rick O. I thought Marty needs to give us a Cars song. Thx Marty!
Heading into the chorus, there's a "Ba-da dow!" You missed. It can hear it on the record. I love that part.
Left handed thumbnail.
I see what ya did there Marty. 😁

Chorus sounds just like Hit me with your best shot
