I really appreciate how clearly and methodically you explain things in this video and all the others. As an older guy starting to experience symptoms of an enlarged prostate, it is helpful to understand what is happening. I appreciate the distinction between BPH and cancer - and have been checked for the latter. No signs of cancer but still annoyed by disturbed sleep.

How does one exercise the prostate? Easy, keep the prostate's fluid production turned over. Keep that product moving as it were. Much of a healthy life comes down to keeping things moving. Lymphatic system, blood flow, muscles and you name it - keep them moving/performing and they will be content longer. The exact opposite - the sedentary lifestyle moves very little and the results are clear - no muy bueno. The physical models are perfect for illustrating the spatial relationships. Somehow, all the 2D images I've encountered over the years just didn't do it - for me at least. Really enjoying the information/content. Thank you

Thanks for that inside view! When you showed/explained the female pelvic anatomy, I thought how crowded everything was and no wonder we can have eventual problems if we don’t work those pelvic floor and abdominal muscles to stay fit! But the male pelvic region seems even more problematic without careful attention to fitness! Yes - EXERCISE cannot be overemphasized!!

This is a lovely delivered and easily followed lecture, using the model aided the visulisation,
I like that the detail of its function was added ,
I would love to have seen the gland in real life IE during surgery,
it would be nice to have quick discussion on how transgender male to female lower surgery can affect function and examination etc, (as Neo Vaginal cannal now runs between recutm and prostrait} as this would be relevent to gynacologists, urologists and GP's who may have to manage this patient group.
But great information transmission thank you🙂

Incredible teaching on the prostate. I had prostate cancer and had to have radiation. It appears so far to have gotten it all. My PSA is like .01 or .10. My oncologist is happy as am I. I see now l that the radiation beam has to be aimed at the base of the penis as the prostate is directly behind it. My doctor told me that, but it was nice to see if on this model.

    Hello Sam,
I felt compelled to comment on your video, which I did enjoy and was very pleased to watch, but I felt it needed some holes filling in. I do hope that TH-cam doesn't decide to delete this comment since it does contain some information that I believe you will find interesting. So where to start.
    1) I am a 74-year-old man. That 50% of the population that can relate directly to this video. I am a graduate Electronics Engineer.
    2) My grandfather walked into a hospital in Leeds to have a "minor operation" on his prostate and was carried out in a coffin. My grandmother who depended on him totally since she had MS died a month later from a broken heart.
    3) My father died of bone cancer that was a direct result of him having prostate cancer.
So it should not surprise you to learn that I have paid a lot of attention to my own prostate. I take regular PSA tests and I can say that I have no signs of prostate cancer, at least as far as the PSA test can indicate.
BUT your description of the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia were exactly the symptoms that I was having until 18 months ago. It even meant that if I didn't empty my bladder regularly then it was very difficult to start emptying my bladder. I have a very strong memories of this happening on a car journey where I could not find a service area to stop at in good time and by the time I did find one it took a long time for me to start the urine flow and I needed to go to the urinal at the service station several times before driving on.
    That is no more.
Purely by accident I have found the solution.
    How?
Well at the beginning of the COVID disaster, around March 2020 I took it upon myself to educate myself on the human immune system. It became clear to me that a major reason that older people, like me, were more susceptible to serious complications from being infected with SARS-cov-2 was that our innate immune system had weakened over the span of our life. The most obvious solution to prevent against serious consequences from being infected was to take steps to boost my immune system using multivitamins. But, it was also clear that we men needed more zinc than women because of the needs of the prostate gland. So besides taking a daily dose of multivitamins I also took a supplement of zinc picolinate.
    Bingo!!!
Within days the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia, that I had suffered for years and that you described so accurately, disappeared. AND more importantly have not returned. Yes. I still take the supplement and I am sure that I will have to take the supplement for the rest of my life, but that it is small price to pay for having a full night's sleep and no problem of passing urine first thing in the morning.
I would say to any man who gets as for as this in my comment, "not all zinc picolinate supplements are created equal." I tried some others, I especially remember one with added Vitamin C added, where the problems of benign prostatic hyperplasia returned.
What seems to be happening is that men do not get enough zinc in their diet and over the years this results in the prostate becoming permanently inflamed. This lack of zinc in the diet is the cause of "an enlarged prostate" , but enlarged prostate should really be called "inflamed prostate" because if it was then I suspect the remedy of adding zinc supplement to men's diet would be more often thought of.
The other huge benefit of adding zinc to the diet is that cuts and scrapes heal without the need for any antiseptic being applied and boils and hemorrhoids are also a thing of the past for me.
I hope that you will take this comment seriously and not write it off as the ramblings of an internet troll. As a graduate engineer who has spent his life solving problems, I can assure you that a troll I am not!
Here's my answer to John Francois' comment since TH-cam's spam filter software is such a disaster.
Firstly, I have retired to France so I buy the Zinc Picolinate in France. Its's available over the counter at the local pharmacy here. Its inexpensive. 5 Euros for 100 capsules. As I mentioned, I did try some other brand that didn't work so it is worth trying different brands if you don't find the brand you buy helps. I know that if you do an internet search you can find lots of different brands and can buy Zinc Picolinate on Amazon.
Because I did post a reply to you that was deleted, I am going to guess it was because I put website links in my reply, so I am trying again without using any website links. Here's how to find the Nat&Form capsules that I use.
Search with Google for “easyparapharmacie uk“
When you are on the easyparapharmacie site put into their search box "Zinc 100 gelules Nat Form" It should take you straight there. I've tested this way of finding the zinc picolinate on a different computer and it does work. The brand is called Nat & Form but putting “&” into their search box screws up the search results. ☹
Because it's a french product it ships from Nice in France, but don't let that put you off. I have been taking one capsule per day now for more than eighteen months and it works a treat. You should feel the benefit in a matter of days if all you are suffering from is inflammation of the prostate. Of course if it is anything more serious it may not help. I can't say. The zinc picolinate capsules contain 50mg of zinc picolinate which gives your body around 10mg of zinc. Everything I have read online says that you can take up to 50mg of elemental zinc per day but I have only needed to take one capsule and haven't even considered taking more than one per day. Bon chance!
John. If you eventually get to find this answer I'd love to hear from you.

Does the urethra have its own lining to separate it from the prostate? If yes, how can the TURP method remove part of the prostate through the penis? It appears that you would have to destroy the lining of the urethra to get to the prostate.
