The poppier production was a result of their desire to work with a producer who "knows nothing about their music style" and this is the result of it, like it or not, yes. I like it as I've liked all of the previous StS records. If they do make a new record with changes it's not because they are ashamed of being too 'accessible' because they don't really care about people's opinions and that's why I love them. Writing and performing the music of the last two albums after the songwriter Juha Raivio's partner's death has been very punishing to him and he said he could not write something so depressing and wanted a touch of hope to the new album. Btw there's a Type O Negative easter egg on the album because October Rust -> November Dust, and I think Mikko Kotamäki is singing some lines with the kind of deep low voice Peter Steele did and I've never heard Mikko use his voice like that before, that track was super fun for me. Anyway, so you've listened to all of the previous albums too? Since you seem to be keen on making those discography rankings, would you be interested in making one of Swallow the Sun at some point? Although it would be a tough job for myself too and I've listened to them for more than a decade at this point :D
