How well has the grout sealer held up after 1 year?
@@laverdadesmejor We've been doing this servcie for tha last 19 years and when we come back in a year to do a maintenance clean using our high temperature, high-pressure method of cleaning the sealer holds up very well. As long as you don't use abbrasive tools like steel brushes and scotch pads you're sealed for life. Steamer mops are a bit hard on the sealer. There are other sealers on the market now (8 products) and they all are different in how they perform.

Jim, it's our own private label color matched to any brand of grout color. Looks natural without burying the grout texture. Tenaciously bonds mechanically and chemically to the grout. do I have to remove the old stain(which appears like paint coming off after years)?

Crochet Happy if you are dealing with a previous coating that's on your grout of course you need to remove it as completely as possible as our sealer will adhere best to clean grout. if remaining color sealer is Bond as well our color sealer will attached well to that sealer. The use of a fine bristle stainless steel brush found it the paint department of Home Depot could work and the use of a paint stripper if needed to remove everything from the grout prior to using our sealer. however you must also thoroughly rinse the surface of any residue chemicals you use to remove the old failing sealer. Sometimes the best of sealers will not adhere properly if there are still soap scum mold mildew or other residues including food grease sugar Etc. is this on bathroom wall tile or your floor tile? Many companies offer pressure based hot water extraction for tile and grout using Turbo spinner tools currently used by professionals. This is the standard for preparing the grout surface for color sealing. It ensures the best restoration prior to color sealing.

Its impossible to remove the old stain. The best I could do was use sulfonic (sp) acid and repaint with grout stain. I used a toothbrush and applied the stain with a small squeeze bottle with a thin tip.
Vanessa that's a good question I'm a professional hard surface restoration contractor of 30 years first we clean the tile and grout using high-temperature high-pressure water. most of the time I found the grout was never 100% perfectly uniform when we were done cleaning. so I developed a way to apply a sealer and color all in one step. To answer your question yes and no we first clean the grout as surgically clean as possible so the sealer bonds well to the grout then because of the inconsistencies in the final job color ceiling makes the grout completely uniform either to the original color when installed or whatever color your heart desires. this makes the final job look brand new. I found also I could do any kind of repair to the grout and not worry about getting the grout to match the old grout because we were going to color seal when we were done. it's an awesome way to make a old tired grout updated and brand new. we now manufacture these applicators and offer an incredible sealer that I consider a lifetime restoration of the grout.

What do you do after the warrenty is up and its worn thin by excessive scrubbing or totally removed in spots? Do you just re seal over the old?
Fresh step not all sealers are the same. Though this one is excellent It's not the sealer but the applicator that has been perfected. The reason there is no cleanup is because this applicator comes with 3 different widths so there is no excess residue on the tile to have to wipe up. That's the beauty of this new method try it you'll like it know you love it

If you're restoring grout as a business this is a game-changer. If you're just trying to save money as DIYer you'll actually love using this little tool. The stick tools looked pretty cool but just can't apply the better sealer that turns splotchy stained grout completely new looking and will now be so much easier to clean. This is a great system. You still need to learn technique but, by far, the best method I've found.

Hi mark i have porcelin polished tile with a 3mm grout joint what happens if you get it on the tile is it easy to clean off and is there an applicator head for 3mm
we have a brush cap for 1/16 to 1/8" (3mm) that should do the trick.
You can find same stuff on Amazon. Type in grout coloring and get the recommended toothbrush.
Great video but he isn't wiping up the overflow paint. The paint that slightly gets into the tile.

in order to accurately put color sealer on the grout but not on the tile you need to make sure the brush you use is exactly the size of the width of the grout. no toothbrushes come in those various widths. our applicator has four sizes to choose from. Fresh Step, if the video had zoomed in you would have seen that the reason I'm not wiping up any overflow sealer is that there is no over flow sealer on the tile. That's the whole point of this applicator it just doesn't waste sealer on the tile. You get the brush you need when you buy it. 1/16th to 1/8th is one brush, 1/8th to 1/4" is the next brush and 1/4 to 3/8th wide grout joints. There's even a 1/2" to 3/4" for Mexican tile and sand stone paving joints.
There's quite a difference between color sealers out there on the market the ones grout doctor is applying doesn't bonduelle largely because they use acid chemistry when the alkaline doesn't work so when stressed most color Steelers will peel off hours of bonds tenaciously is chemically compatible with the grout and won't even peel off the bottle they're shipped in. You can't apply Color sealer any other way as fast as this tool delivers. There's no need by the way to wipe anything off the edge of the tile because you select the brush that fits the grout with and you have no need to wipe anything off the tile because nothing gets on the tile Edge just try it purchase a $26 starter kit and 4 oz bottle of any color from any grout manufacturer and you'll see for yourself. Home Depot only offers 12 colors if you contact the company you can get as many as 20 colors but we offer all of the six brands of grout colors on the market today.
Will this work on a marble mosaic backslash? The grout dried way darker than indicated so we're desperately trying to lighten it without killing ourselves in the process! Thanks for any help!!!! Can't find any videos of these kinds of products on marble mosaic sheet tiles!
I had someone use Jamo grout stain which is like paint. Do I have to first get all that off before using this? Much of it came off after years, but some areas have the natural grout.
Not sure about that brand and I know most of them out there. The important thing is even though our sealer will bond tenaciously to almost any surface. If the previously applied sealer is poorly bonded and flaking off you'll only be as strong as the bond strength of the sealer underneath. Using a spinner / Turbo pressure based cleaner will do a much better job of removing weak sealer.
Crochet Happy, If you remove any loose sealer and the daily grime that builds up you're then ready to color seal. This applicator works on most sealers. Thicker sealers tend to be harder to push through the orifice in the applicator but it's better to open it up with a larger hole than to add water to the sealer. Some sealers won't accept adding water and becomes weak or worthless.
I used a baby toothbrush and put the stain/sealer in a small squeeze bottle with a thin tip. I put some of the stain along the groutline and brushed it on. It worked out well. I used a grout/stain sealer from Home Depot (polyblend grout renew) and they also have an acid that I first cleaned it with using some thin steel brushes I found in dollar general. The stain/sealer was very thick but in the squeeze bottle worked out fine. I did almost 2500 square feet! Thanks for the reply but my question was 2 weeks ago, so I did some research and found the answers
we're not familiar with that brand of sealer but whenever a sealer flakes off it's usually because the cleaning was not done as well as it should have been. Some sealers do not bond sufficiently and would flake or wear off in time but most just need to be applied after a deep thorough cleaning. If a pressure based cleaning method is not used ..

@@crochethappy3786 Unfortunately now that some years have passed since your post and we've experienced many jobs that have been color sealed with the Home Depot product they have not fared as well. We discovered a poor chemical connection with what makes up the grout and so it tends to flake off especially if a more aggressive cleaning method is used. In fact some color sealer products have given the color seal concept a bad reputation that we are constantly having to deal with. We now have thousands of jobs here in Arizona that have been color sealed using our product and we also clean with 2000 psi from our truck mounted system with no failures even 22 years later.

What does color sealing actually do? Does it just bring the grout lines back to its original color; or is it just covering the stains?

You can bring it back to the original color or choose a different color. It is just a refresh and seal instead of re doing all the grout from scratch.
Vanessaxo 24. one of the problems grout experiences is dirt entrapment that can be properly cleaned with the right chemistry and pressure based extraction kind of like pressure washing. However just like concrete outside stains happen they then penetrate deep into the porosity of the grout and stain it permanently. Using acids will erode and dissolve some of the grout in order to chase the stain this is not a good idea. Bicolor ceiling you are covering over permanent stains but this sealer also protects the grout from any future staining also making it easier to mop and maintain for many years. If cleaned properly the grout sealer will not peel off as so many others will. so answering your question yes it is like a paint but will create many years of protection making maintenance a lot different after applying the sealer. repairs can also be made to failing grout hairline cracks or other issues. color ceiling afterwards allows the repairs to be completely invisible As You Are making the grout uniform in color
from the video it appears as if I am changing the color or bleaching but it is done through applying a coating that repels soils and grime during the life of your floor. so permanent stains and grout repairs become a thing of the past and now invisible because you've restored the look and color of your entire floor. many people color seal in order to update and old grout color that does not complement the tiles color. it really looks awesome when completed. Realtors and home flippers love it because they don't have to consider replacing the floor when the grout looks so bad or needs expensive repair.
the video also does not show that I have cleaned this floor thoroughly before sealing it. the grout is not dirty it is just a dark brown grout and the customer wanted the grout to be updated and changed to a different color.

Cliff, Sorry about the color selection you ended up with. This happens often and is easily remedied using color seling. We have a specially designed applicator that works well on vertical wall tile. Your grout lines are probably 1/16th to1/8th" wide so our extra narrow brush cap would be perfect. The grout is probably unsanded grout and unless no penetrating sealer was applied no prep is needed to then color seal to any of hundreds of colors to choose from 4 ounces is likely all you need for this job. How toxic is the grout sealer? What do you suggest for nontoxic DIY to preclean the grout before sealing? Thanks.
The product is water based and is no more toxic than indoor house paint. I can't really even smell it when applying 2 feet away. Precleaning I use a high pH or oxidative cleaner like oxyclean, mixing only enough to apply through a trigger sprayer. Mix hot but not boiling as your sprayer may soften and plunger piston fail. get a stainless steel fine bristle brush from Home Depot paint department. usually, two strokes with this small fine bristle brush is all it takes to agitate years of grime. Then use a microfiber cloth to extract up the residue. Rinse and repeat as needed. contact me by email m56markovic@gmail.com I'll send you ordering information.

Good observation, but we already cleaned using a high pH cleaner, then extracted with a pressure-based spinner tool called the Turbo-Hybrid that really blasts away the grime at 2000 psi. The grout is very clean. It is just dark brown by design and the customer wanted to change the color of the grout which is the purpose of color sealing. Color sealing nearly every job we clean for the past 13 years and when we go back to clean tile with high-pressure Turbo spinner tool method, only the dirt blows off. we've been selling these applicators to hundreds of cleaning professionals with raving reviews from everyone. just an update three years later... We still have no failures on our thousands of clients we've color sealed. We also use 2000 psi of high temperature to do every job. Because of the protective barrier we applied after the original restoration cleaning, the sealer bonds incredibly, and still no failures.
2 days later it’s all dirty again
A couple of thoughts to it being dirty again. One, was not cleaned properly before sealer was applied. Two, all other product used on existing grout have to be throughly extracted. I WOULD be happy to answer any and all questions on the pre- cleaning before applying sealer. Very IMPORTANT!! I have been sealing floors for 13 plus years and have lots of testimonials on how much they like their new floors and how well the sealer holds up.
