I worked for a huge commercial tile company 30 years ago.We did malls, hospitals, buildings, etc. They bought these huge grout washing machines from Germany. These things had a big wash tub on small casters, that had a circular sponge that was about 18" wide and 4' in diameter. the machine kind of worked like an old timey washing machine with several sets of rollers the 3 HP motor pushed the sponge thru. You could clean tile faster than 4 experienced grouters could grout. We could grout several thousand feet of tile in one day. If you knew how to operate the machine, you did not have to go back to clean any grout haze, other than a spot here or there. Amazing machine..
I cleaned an enormous area of grout in my home one month ago with Lysol toilet bowl cleaner and I am so happy with the result. Applied blue Lysol toilet bowl cleaner to the grout lines, let sit 15 minutes, scrub grout with a wire grout brush, wipe away toilet bowl cleaner with a towel. It took me one week, four hours per day to do a kitchen, bathroom, laundry room and hall. I divided the job into 4 hour sessions because the fumes from the product can be strong and irritating. Twenty year old grout looks almost new!
@@johnbannister501 Many tiles are porcelain which toilet are. Natural or non man made tiles such as slate may etch or colour change, you could test a small area first. Other cleaning options are vinegar or steam cleaning. A lot depends on how bad or deep the damage or black mold has gone into the grout. Sometimes the neglect has gone to far and replacement is the only option.
I've used this grout removal and regrouting technique to refresh all the old dirty grout between all my floor tiles and wall tiles in kitchen, laundry and bathrooms, bit-by-bit, over many years. A big and successful project. I found it generates a lot of dust, simultaneous vacuum cleaning is essential. The multitool also chews through a lot of these expensive carbide grout removal blades. But the really pleasing end result justifies the expense and effort. I used Davco Rejuvenation Grout (Antique Lace colour). It comes premixed in small pails, a bit expensive, but lends itself to working in small areas when I had small amounts of free time available. This grout is designed to stick to existing grout which means that you only have to remove a small depth of old dirty grout crust, doesn't have to be removed all the way down to the floor substrate. I used a small tiling sponge in alternating half-circular motions to flush the regrout lines with the surface of the tiles, and a microfibre cloth to polish off the fresh haze left over on the tiles after final sponge clean - don't wait too long because the dried haze is hard to remove, requires real sweaty effort. If/when it dries out slightly and gets a bit stiff in the pail, I just added some water and used a scraper to stab/mix the water in to make it nice and buttery again, like thick yoghurt. No need to throw any away, just spray surface of pail contents with water, keep pail closed and store inside a plastic bag in a cool place.

The reason why new clean grout get dirty over time is because wet sloppy mopping of the floor causes fine dirt particles to settle and embed into down into grout lines, making them grimy and uncleanable over time. Once you have finished grouting or regrouting, only use a damp finger-type damp mop with a spinning bucket to clean the floor, so no dirt-contaminated water slops into the grout grooves. I've been cleaning my regrouted tile floor with a damp finger mop for a few years now, grout line still look great! I guess it has also helped that I sealed the fresh dry regrout lines with a waterproofing sealer recommended by the regrout manufacturer.
I am vacuuming the floor before steam mopping and monthly scrub the grouts with a dish brush and degreaser. I found this the easiest way to keep them clean.

I've seen this technique and done it, now days though I use a 4" diamond blade on a cordless angle grinder...much quicker than the oscillating tool and you can use the same blade for many grout removal jobs. I would not recommend the grinder unless you have a steady hand and eye protection and a dust mask/vacuum is a must.
@@josephsperzel1492 Only a very thin film of paint remains on the tiles while the grout is fully covered. I'll grant you that the time-consuming labor-intensive method of grinding all the grout lines is probably going to result in a somewhat better product, but it's not worth the aggravation or cost. Note that my method works best with non-glossy tiles, like stone or rough ceramic, where the paint will not rub off easily over time. We just did a whole apartment, start to finish, in about 2 hours. People who see it have no idea it was painted, they think we cleaned it.

Lol ok.. Don't do this. Grout needs to be worked into the joints by hand. This will prevent voids from forming in the grout lines. It also allows you to see where the grout has filled the joint entirely and where it has not. Work in small areas and batches.. avoid black grout as it is a bitch to clean up. However, if it's a high traffic area black is particle.
the easiest way to remove grout is with a cordless grinder with a thin metal cutting blade ! It is a very dusty process so is not suitable for every type of job . The grout shown in this example is far too wet . Being a cement product grout needs to mixed with the minimum of water and should be tooled into the joints . A washboard is the best way to wash off excess grout . The 45^ wipe is the most even way to wash off .
Only thing new is the squeegee. As long as you start cleaning the new grout in around 10-15 minutes to get the biggest mass off you have the main part beat. You can clean at your leisure after that.
Question: the tile that's been in the house for the last 50 the grout doesn't crack or chip off ever.. HOWEVER someone install some tile in my house last year and it's cracking already. The floor got wet and it really cracking down. Why is 50 years old grout not cracking at all and 1 year old grout cracking fast?
Can the regrout be done over the old grout? I'm afraid that if we try using the blade, we may destroy the tile. If that's the case, we'll need to hire someone to do it all.
When your tile is installed and the grout has cured, seal the grout with a grout sealing product. If done correctly and reapplied often enough, your grout looks like new without stain or flaw for decades. If you do not want to hire a professional to do this, do one section at a time every day off until it is totally completed. Don't expect your hired housekeeper to keep your grout flawlessly clean if it is not properly sealed.

Great job!
Amazing 👏
the easiest way to remove grout is with a cordless grinder with a thin metal cutting blade !
5" skill with diamond blade and table guide ... 1 x 3 by 6 foot stood on by guy w vac and pumpable squirt bottle ... these guys are union though

B2: máy hút bụi vệ sinh.
B3: trộn keo ron, và thao tác
Güzel teknik.. Peki siz böyle yapmıyorsanız, nasıl yapıyorsunuz? Gerçekten merak ettim..
What is the machine that’s being used to get the grout out? Is it an angle grinder?
Why use the Squeegee if you still had to get on your knees and use the Float?
Exactly!!!
Only thing new is the squeegee.
As long as you start cleaning the new grout in around 10-15 minutes to get the biggest mass off you have the main part beat. You can clean at your leisure after that.
A DICA é ótima !
I hope you will visit my channel
Still have to use an utility knife to remove the edges of the tile. But that power tool is Great.
Love the sponge with the handle. I'll add that to my tool bag.

Buen trabajo!!
Wow amazing beautiful idea 👌✌️ thanks my friend 👍👍👍👍
Yup..good job..I do same
Very clear nice job
Thank good your 👍💯❤️💕👏🤝
Can the regrout be done over the old grout? I'm afraid that if we try using the blade, we may destroy the tile. If that's the case, we'll need to hire someone to do it all.
Existing grout needs to be removed enough so a new layer can go above
@@johnnybear111 Thank you 😊
You can stain the grout
You need to clean the tiles first. Otherwise the white cement will be dirty in no time
Perfect solution to sell house
No need
Right!!
Me encantó muchas gracias, bendiciones.
No i oczywiście takich narzędzi 🥴
Türkiyede böyle yapıyorlar.

This is how we did the grout on our entire house 2,000 square feet each room done in less than an hour
