The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is the LITTLE EXTRA. Ilayaraja stands apart from others is coz of his capability in Orchestration, Instrumentation (he perfectly knows what instruments for the situation) and the RERECORDING which is the backbone of cinema or a song.His standard is too high for anybody to reach.
I do agree with you...but one same vein I wud say that no orchestra member ever gets the original score...it takes sincere efforts to listen to the songs to be played and take down the notes bar by bar, rehearse and then perform. Jose played decently, but he would surely know it could have been better....a few notes need correction...but overall, decent & disciplined performance indeed
