  • There's no more hallowed ground for a three wheeler enthusiast to travel to than Binky's Forever ATC museum. What he has put together in the past number of years is second to none and in a class all of it's own. If you think you may be getting a pretty good collection put together, well... go have a seat and prepare to be humbled.
    Binky Tapscott is one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet and has a passion for three wheelers. His preference is for Hondas, so don't be confused by the Tri-Zinger he has as a mailbox. A few years ago he told his wife he was going to buy some of the three wheelers he always wanted as a kid... and she says "boy, you wanted a lot of three wheelers..." His collections spans all makes and models. He has a variety of conversions and four wheelers in his collection. He has one of a kind custom machines including one that was built by Paul Jr. on American Chopper, as well as many other very unique builds.
    His facility was built specifically for his three wheeler collection. It contains a turntable for whichever machine he wishes to highlight, signage from every major brand, and a wall that shows the chronology of promotional ATC brochures from Honda from 1970 to 1987. It is simply outstanding. These machines sit on a black and what checker board floor that makes all the colors pop and just visually makes you stand in awe as the incredible sight.
    You may wonder, "how can I go see these??" Well, you're in luck! Binky is working to make his collection accessible to his fans by having specific days/weekends available for visits. You'll have to book your slot through a system that he is working to set up. Be patient because it's coming!
    I had the privilege of meeting Binky the first time back in 2017 when I tagged along with my friend Mitch Reppucci who was making a trip to his place to bring him a machine. My other friend Vinny Staffa was along for the ride as well. It was a quick down-and-back trip for us, but we spent about 6 hours there that day and Binky hung out with us the whole time, telling us stories and answering questions. I was just blown away. Since then I've been in touch with him here and there, but certainly not a lot. We chatted last back in the spring about a few things, but that was the last time.
    While on a family trip to Myrtle Beach, we had made plans to stop at a friend's place for 2 nights on our way home and, by chance, I became aware that we'd be about 20 minutes away from Binky and would likely have some time to kill.... so I shot him a text message and he told me to c'mon by! My family got to come with me this time and I couldn't have been more honored... We were all blown away. The improvements he made since 2017 were incredible. There's very few, if any, places I can go anymore where I can be wowed by someone's collection.... but this will be one that I can safely say will "wow" me forever... So it is very fitting that he's named it Forever ATC.
    Thank you Binky for your time and the hospitality you showed to us that day... and thank you for what you've done to preserve the history of these machines that we love. You're collection is amazing and you're looked up to by many, many people.

I am from the Mojave desert, we had over 6 3-wheelers, and a couple of Honda Odyssey's. I used to race for Honda in the 80s, i had the very first water-cooled C.R 80 1984. SIMPLY AMZING! I'VE ALWAYS BEEN AN ATV/ATC ENTHUSIAST. IN THE EARLY-MID 1970'S I WAS FIRST INTRODUCED TO A 4 WHEELER CALLED A GO-JOE MANUFACTURED BY RUPP INDUSTRIES THAT I BELIEVE WAS BASED OUT OF MANSFIELD OHIO. MY FATHER BOUGHT SEVERAL OF THEM AS PART OF A BUSINESS VENTURE. I WAS HOOKED IMMEDIATELY! THEY WERE A BLAST! IT HAD AN ELONGATED SEAT AND 3 PEOPLE COULD EASILY RIDE ON IT AT SAME TIME. MY FATHER WOULD TIE A BOBSLED TO IT AND PULL US IN THE SNOW. GREAT MEMORIES! MY DAD BOUGHT ME MY FIRST ATC 70 IN 1980, AN ATC 185'S IN 1983, AND A 350 FOURTRAX IN 1986. SINCE THEN I'VE PURCHASED SEVERAL ATV'S/ SIDEXSIDES, MINI-GO KART/DUNE BUGGY STYLE AND 6X6 ARGO'S ETC... THANKS SO MUCH FOR SHARING YOUR AMAZING COLLECTION. THANKS AGAIN! ERIC A.

    So rad.. looks like the Honda dealerships here in San Diego like Fun Bike Center, House of Honda, and El Cajon Honda my dad took me to as a kid in the 70s/80s when all brands were under 1 roof....My last Honda was a '86 250R 4Trax.. I raced it in the local desert at the District 38 Fud races back in the early 90's.. Now those same Quads go for $3-5k here in So. Cal., for a 36 yr old 2 stroke ATV !! CRAZY

    That's gotta be the nicest collection on the planet. The only one that I didn't see was the ever so rare Polaris 250 three wheeler I think it was called the trail boss. It was similar to Honda's Big Red and 250 sx but was a two stroke and would probably smoke both in a drag race. That's ok though, I was happy with my 250 sx and wish I still had it. I talked to a guy at motorama 2019 that claimed to have been there and knows him.... when binky says " please stop but id like your opinion" you should be humbled and honored that is a high compliment even if you have known him your whole life.... and there's rumored to be only 3500 87 200x in the US id say he has the most 87's in one place... I did catch some optional tires and sweet 200m chrome rack, I wish you would have hovered over that sweet tach on that one 200x 9:19.... they just aren't around.... you probably got pretty close to where I'm at on you way back home, my collection is nothing compared to Binky.... Nice collection we can all get to much stuff we have to appreciate what we have! I sold my Honda 3 wheeler hated to but wanted to go motorized bike to really use more places and have something when SHTF. That ATV collection is alot of work batteries to keep charged, dusting, tires to rotate to keep from flat spots or lift off ground, flat tires and airing up tires, making sure nothing is leaking on floor alot of work. In Virginia hopefully the garage is heated to prevent rust. High humidity rust belt in Virginia. I went to one of the biggest car collectors in Virginia he didn't have the heat on suspriseingly and it was a cold day, High humidity in a area you live or in a building causes rust and cold high humidity causes mold. Mold likes high humidity, cold and dark places like a dark damp basement. Not Good. Southern California and Arizona no rain, no rust you rarely run the heat. And one day when someone down the family tree doesn't want the collection or needs money a auctioneer might be called in. And if this guy opens doors as business local government usually pays a visit and a good chance that's when they get a up to date appraisal for this collection. I know from being a business owner and still am for years. Someone mentioned Blinkys was maybe turning into a museum. Probably won't be enough foot traffic to pay the over head to run it with business insurance, high taxes, employee, Better off to sell them a few at a time on the side if the man wanted to down size or just make a few dollars. Like a man that has the world's largest VW Vanagon collection he just sells a few a year. he did a few years ago before covid.

      @@ThisOldTrike Not trying to complain but most have more than we need. Don't get me wrong it's a very nice collection. But a massive collapse is on it's way and if he was going to sell some time, it's now before the collapse. The housing bubble and economy is going to burst again! I was thinking about buying a new off road dirt bike pay cash or possibly credit card and carry. And I ask different dealers in different states do they need a license or ID and they said yes so far. I said this dirt bike is off road just give me the title, bill of sale and all paper work. If they have my ID I can get a bill later or taxed at any time forever unless I sell it. No way not for me. I seen this with a small used performance boat I had and sold. Luckily broke even. I don't mind paying taxes once but not for life when I'm not going to title it on the road or water. I'm not supporting the government for life they can downsize over head, get out and get a job stop being a bum for life. We the people are tired of losing our rights and being taxed to death for life. You may have not heard about the drone taxation and violation fees in areas yet. But you will people will find out when they get their fine or tax in the mail they have already been doing this in areas for a few years!!! I will buy a dirt bike used or buy online if possible. This takes money out of families mouths for years like you and me!

      Hey man, I'm all for smaller government, less taxes, less control, etc. But I'm not sure what the majority of your second comment has to do with your first though. In your first comment, you're being very critical of something that a very find gentleman has worked very hard to do. You're making assumptions and presumptions... and that's all because it sounds like you have a propensity to look at things through a very pessimistic lens. I'm not sure what your deal is... and honestly I don't care. My TH-cam channel is a dumping ground for your negative comments though... so you can keep all that to yourself.

      @@ThisOldTrike I think you were saying in the video maybe owner turning into a museum. He probably won't make enough to offset the cost of opening the doors in this economy the way big government is so greedy with on going taxes, fees, insurance, zoning, inspection, codes and everything they want and what the owner may want cameras, ada rest rooms and more to open. I guess I'm basically just trying to say why don't we just enjoy our families more and spend quality time while we still have it before the next lockdown instead of hoarding things we may not need or ever use. I would rather be prepped and ready to go like I am now with food water and other things. Because most people living check to check don't really have the time or money to burn. But to each is their own. Watching the video was like going back in time. You have a good channel no hard feelings take care.

    • @ThisOldTrike
      @ThisOldTrike  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There you go again Tom... It's like you can't help from spouting off negativity... The owner didn't do this to turn it into a museum... he didn't do it to make a profit... he didn't hoard these up because of lock downs or the threat there of. Putting this together brought him and his family happiness... plain and simple. For them it is a family affair, but you wouldn't know that because you're too busy making assumptions. And you don't know if he's prepped or if I'm prepped or what anybody's situation is... that's why I'm saying it's best not to say anything in those types of situations.
