Awesome video... I had a buddy back when we were kids had a 1980 185 and I remember when the 185s came out me and him went down to our local Honda shop because we wanted to know what the “S” was all about... and the owner told us that the “S” meant “small” because it was a smaller frame bike... so it sounds like your guess is right... keep the great videos coming... I go back to my childhood every time I watch one👍👊🇺🇸
Pops sold mine😢 . Like 20 years ago . Never got over it to this day
Ugh... that sucks man... Thoughts and prayers... That would be hard to get over...
Man between you and Harvey Spooner both posting 185S videos today, I'm going to have to start playing around with mine soon!
When I was in the seventh grade I got a 1984 200 S.That was a great trike.I had a paper route and delivered the papers on that thing...That was 1986 the good old days.💪👍👍
I just posted a quick video showing so you can see what I'm working with.
Your missing the extra heat shield on the exhaust header pipe on 86 200s and mine has adjustable headlight as well
one of my buddies died on an 82 185s few years back still have the unit works fine but i miss him so much
Great vid brother love these!!
Great comparison video. Thanks for sharing
Dope vid Preston. on the 1983 185s, with the addition of front suspension, the rear brake got larger!
You guys get WAY too worked up about OEM tires lol
Great video once again!
How come you left out my beloved '80 185? Gonna do a separate vid on the 25" tall tire 185's/200's? Lots of good info also man, great job!
That 83 is soo nice.. weird about the tires on the 86 too, I know it wasn’t a pro-am that came on them but to find out it was a Dunlop is kindve shocking haha. Awesome video! Long awaited haha. Maybe I’ll have to make a video on the few “s” bikes I have this summer
Good video as always Preston, had several machines you have there, I miss the orange 185 the most, it was stolen year's ago. Have a good one buddy.
Awesome thanks for the video!
Mine is an 82 Kawasaki KLT 250 Prairie.
Low large under rear section fuel tank with pump give very long range.
Electric start only but really never had a problem with it.
I still ride it all the time had it for forty two years now.
Plenty of power and never needed reversing anyway.
Five speed motorcycle transmission and in closed chain drive.
Racks front and rear. Rear is covered by rubber belting for handy work table.
Additional super bright LED lights have ultra low amperage draw for night off road.
Two pounds pressure gives very comfortable ride yet not excessive drag.
Thanks for sharing brother.
Just bought a 84’ 200s
Can’t wait to restore it
I wanted one of these so bad when I was a kid.
just caught the end of the video. is that steering wheel lock the same across the 200s, 125m sx? I've got one with a key I took off a parts trike, been so long I don't remember if it was a 200s. I'll post this question over on 3wheeler and see if anyone might have a answer too.
83 185s was my very first trike. Picked it up after an all day football camp freshman year of high school. Was never any good at football, probably because I was so distracted thinking about the 3 wheeler that day. The beginning of an addiction!
Awesome did you get it new? My Dad bought one new in 83' I still have the original receipt for $1317.00 purchased new at Stillwater MN Honda which has been gone for a while now.
Don’t forget about the 70s they are also upshift 85😉
Can you tell me what other years/models racks can fit on a 1985 200 S,thanks in advance
Great video. I just ended up with a 1980 185. Wasn't sure why it had the 25 inch tires. And the color was messed me up. Love the old trikes.
nice channel man :)
Some great info
Small tire version on any 185 or 200 if it's original it should have 8" wheels and 22"tires
That 83 185s is spectacular
@@ThisOldTrike I'm gona try to buy the 83 from the museum exhibit if the owner wants to sell it
I had an 85 200S. I sold it to get Cragar Super Sports for my truck. STUPID! I still miss it.
great video! for some reason I'm into the 185s. jim
I think I have a theory on the part numbers nothing to prove it but from my knowledge of tires there’s different compounds for different uses so the 250r being a race machine probably has a softer compound while the 200s may have a harder one
When I got my 86 200s it had a 377 dunlop on the front.... bald, smooth no tread left I thought they replaced it and the 83 84 R rear tire was the right size but I'm wrong that was an original front tire
Correct if wrong but I think the 85’ 200m also had a black thumb throttle as well? And also think the 86’ 200s “tool box” under the fender is the “owners manual box” like the 86’ TRX250 Fourtrax.
Great video man! Let me know if you wanna part ways with one of those ATC 250R’s
Nice video, we do what we must, got a 200s cylinder I'm going to use to build my 84 200x engine, ggz-👽👍
Really wish you'd test ride your stuff for us.
Are the factory rims on a 1985 honda 200s the same front to back....the back will work on the front, and the front will work on the back....is that correct......thanks
I was wondering if anybody could help me out here, I have a 1983 185S and I’m trying to figure out how to mount the dash pad and I can’t seem to figure it out?
Did all 200s’ have the compartment in the rear, all I’ve seen have. But I’m looking into new plastics for my 85’ 200s and the only replacements I can find that claim they’re for a 200s are solid one piece with no compartment in the back from Maier.
Yes sir. OEM fenders were injection molded. Maier fenders are vacuum formed, so they can't do a lot of the complex shapes and contours that OEM had... so that means no trunk unfortunately.
My elderly friend passed and his family sold me the 250 big red he owned since 85 we can’t find the key should I get a key or get new switch this 3 wheeler is near perfect example
It looks like brand new key/switch sets are available! $51.72 on Rocky Mountain ATV. Part number 35100-HA0-027 I would go that route!
thank you
I have a 1985 Honda 200S atc,can not find a clutch cable anywhere, can you recommend somewhere or do you know what other year will fit, thanks in advance
A 200S doesn't have a clutch cable... that may be why it's so hard to find one?
lol are you pulling my leg,I’ve only seen pics of it,it’s in va and I’m in Florida,my brother is bringing it down to me the first week of November for my bday,in the pic I see a clutch lever but I’ll take your word on it if you say so because with all the atc you have I know you know, thanks
I’m guessing then that the right lever is front break and left is rear break, thank you so much for the info and getting back to me so quickly,I’m following you now, love the videos, thanks again
Do you do mechanical work for the general public? I am located in Pa. Bradford county. South of Elmira Ny
those kt tires look familiar. we bought a tri moto with tires just like those on the rear!
The rear brake pedal and shifter are black on 86 200s also can't remember if you said that
@@ThisOldTrike Tim actually taught me that, from the video you did about me.....I feel like the teacher marking red pen all over you essay, but the record must remain untarnished
is the 185s same frame as 110 ?
All those binders have that same Japanese mold growth doting the archival pages
I'm still so confused. I have what I thought was a 1983 185s. Now the only thing I know, because I walked out and looked, is that I have a 200. The airbox looks nothing like any of them. The inlet pokes out like the 81, but there is no hole next to it for the tool kit. The airbox is one piece that goes to a rubber boot then to the carb
@@MrFireline55 I just posted a short video to show you what I'm working with. Sadly no fender or seat.
@@curiousmatters5996 I’ll try and have a look when my signal will allow the video to render
@@curiousmatters5996 I think it’s a 1982 atc 200 with a 1983 atc 185s front end, or a 200s front end
@@MrFireline55 ty, now to try to find plastics. I'll keep researching, I appreciate the help.
so amazing how every bike is so similar but diffrent in its own way !! amazing video once again man love the content also i never was a fan of the rubber pegs i always find they get to slippery after half a day of mud riding
I’d like to request a video of doing general maintenance on a machine…your choice…using only the oem tool kit provided with said machine…………
And once the maintenance is done, sink it in a mud hole. Thanks.
👍👍👍
Great video you look like a knowligible guy and neet your 3 wheelers are fairly straight your place is nice but how do you set the seats and fenders straight on the asphalt or cement instead of laying a blanket and then set them on the top? It shows carelessness in a way which is very surprising coming from a guy like you
I think you're thinking these machines are nicer than they are in reality. The machines in the video are not flawless show machines... they've survived and have blemishes and to go to the extent of putting the fenders on a blanket just isn't necessary in the case of these machines.
Where are you located and may I please stop and visit I am a big three wheeler lover
86 helmet holder too, they have handle bar lock too????... nope you got it I jumped too soon
Yup s stand for small tire version
You forgot to mention the foot pegs swithing from rubber to steel
I got an 83 185s use my 82 200s for parts.
The s stands for sport because it was more sporty with smaller tires and a different gear ratio
83 84 250r was that 377 both years
People are stupid. video like this should have got way more views 100.000 or more.
Can I have one
Hop right on facebook Marketplace and find one for sale in your area and buy to your heart's desire man!! Mine aren't for sale.
Any atc 250sx for sale. Nothing special it can be beat up .Fixer upper
Your sound is pretty low and not very clear
My father gave me a new 185s in 82. I had so much fun on that machine. Recently I found a basket case 83 and restored it. I drive it all over town, love it. Great content but one mistake, the 82 also had split wheels, 83 got the one piece.
Is the 83 tubeless then?
They're all tubeless.
